Quick question though: You refer to temp settings of 6 and 4.5. Do you mean at the absolute max settings? Rarely does anyone go above 3pm, and some units don't get any hotter above that. Might you be ref'g to someplace else on the dial? Or did I misunderstand?

When I use number to quantify my temp I'm using a 1-10 scale. 5 being dead center. Sorry lol, I'm pretty vaked sometimes when I post here.

If I may go off on a bit of a semi-related rant, my biggest problem with "stealth" vapes is loading the bowl. I had a Puffit and as far as stealthy appearance is concerned that is a flawless design. But its a nightmare to load on the go. And for me, this heavily negates it's purposes for stealth. The new model comes with a small funnel but, if I'm being honest, that's a band aid on a cut that needs stitches.

Back on topic. I saw in the survey this company was exploring a portable EVO type device? I'll tell you, if the portable has an internal battery and can get down to something maybe the size of the Solo (is that too ambitious?) but has this ELB system... oh man would that be a GAME CHANGER in my opinion. Being able to preload as many bullets as you want and just popping them in and out on the go... that would be amazing.

For one you wouldn't have to dump your ABV like you do with other vapes if you're on the go and going for a quick reload. You could keep the ABV on you, assuming you save it, and keep it rather neatly in a pocket. Of course, this will gunk up the ELBs a bit but so what? Just clean them. More importantly, you'll have preloaded bowls to just pop in on the go as needed. So slick and smooth. Now THAT would be a device I would pay handsomely for and happily forgive reduced vapor production.

Also curious about the advantages/disadvantages between the Swagger double and showercap. I'm kind of tempted to go with the double, as I like diffusion and don't care about taste, but my lungs aren't that large or strong and I'm concerned I may have some trouble pulling it.

Sounds like the double would work well for you. Less taste, but killer diffusion and the overall volume isn't that big compared to say, a bubbler. :2c:

I preface everythign I'm about to say by reiterating I am a total newb at the EVO and using advanced water pipes in general.

I have no experience with the Swagger double or the showercap but the latter seems fairly easy to hit based on what I've read. I have the hydrahoneycomb and it's extremely easy to hit. The resistance is very low and the flavor of the herb is full. I've never experienced diffusion like this. It gets vapor that tastes delicious and is very easy to tolerate. If your airway is sensitive I can say I recommend it. It looks like a bitch to keep clean but time will tell. I have next to no experience with this kind of thing so that should be noted. But I can tell the vast difference between the sweeter more tolerable hits the hydrahoneycomb gives me versus the big thick clouds I was getting out my straight turbine when I was inverting the EVO.

I actually have a question about the hydrahoneycomb if anyone has experience with it. It's got three chambers. Common sense tells me to fill all three chambers about halfway. It looks like no air goes through water in the bottom chamber. Should I keep that dry or should that bottom chamber have water in it? I've been putting water in it... because I think it makes sense. I just cant figure out it's purpose. I guess the middle chamber diffuses and the top chamber further conditions the vapor. I just cant figure out what water in the bottom chamber would do. Maybe provide a cooling barrier from the unit itself?

If anyone knows please explain that to me if you don't mind.

Here's a link to my tube so you guys know which one I'm talking about:

Right, but I know the more diffusion there is, the more force I have to exert to pull the air. And since there are 2 chambers I'll have to pull though, I'm a bit concerned it may be a problem.

I'll probably just buy it though, and fill both chambers with minimal water.

Only fill the section where the perc is. Just slightly above the top of the perc.

Yea like I said I'm not terribly experienced. But the hydrabomb is literally designed to offer more diffusion with less resistance. And it works. The Swagger double looks like it could go either way as you can just fill one of the percolators. But I'd imagine with both percs full that would be a tough draw. The showercap doesn't use a ton of water so I'd imagine the resistance is pretty low on that. But imagination and reality are often different things.

According to the site the Hydrabomb has the easiest draw btw.

In terms of giving pure flavour and dense vapour how would a VXH compare to a EQ? I recently got a pre owned EQ unit and it certainly does the job, I get wonderful flavour from it using a combination of the EQ+bong+EZB's packed in the elbow and that works like a charm.

I've used the VXH only once in my life along with the Sublimator (loved both but very pricey) of the two I preferred the VXH as it was a easier vape to operate, needed far less heat up time amongst other issues on pros and cons. Although I used it only once I was very impressed overall with how it worked, I got the EQ generally because it's a decent unit for a fairer price now I have a little more dough to play with its back on the list of things to buy in the future perhaps.

Anyone own both? How do they compare or does the cloud blow it out the water? Also I prefer a dry vapour to get the taste in its perfect form as I see it, don't mind a little diffusion but I feel it negates the flavour some what.

I fancied the mini vap too, again any comparisons would be helpful to me, help me make a new purchase :)

anasrzi,
"it's a connoisseur's vape"
I guess that's why I haven't had to buy another desktop since I got this one! Nice to have a Vape custom made for your needs. It's nice to hear it works for you guys too!!
@anasrzi i and several other members own EQ and EVO and now days my EQ is more of my novelty unit i pull out when bored. No disrespect to the EQ. Before I'd pull out the EQ for a session I'd go in this order through my vapes
1) EVO
2)MIGHTY
3) CLOUD +
4)SOLO
5)EQ
Vapor quality and ease of use determines my choices!

Thanks CC I expect the reactions to the question I posted to be around about the same as you've given, trouble is when I tested the evo at that expo I was pretty medicated already and everything was amazing back then .

So there's little in the way of a real comparison of the EQ vs the evo overall, different beast entirely? The tastiest vapours if found have been using the lotus vape in the past, still got it too never without that one simply love it but it's not so much a "plug and play" device requires a certain technique to get the best from it, so I'm a big lover of convection vaping hence the EQ and possibly the evo.

Hey so I was vaping a bit at an earlier time and set it aside, left it on, then turned back to use it and saw the green light was now showing green AND red LED lights. I simply shut it off and turned it back on. Hasn't happened since. Anyone know what that was about?

Ahh auto shut off. Thanks so much. So I had my first crack at cleaning the Hydrahoneycomb and I have to say, it was pretty painless. Its an awkward size and shape and I felt like there would be no way to submerge it and soak it, as Ive come accustomed to doing with my glassware.

So I had some PBW that @OF pointed me to a ways back. I just sprinked a tiny bit of the powder in with just tap-hot water, used some paper towels to plug up the ends, and shook the hell out of it until I got it clean. Now... its spotless. No fuss at all.

I have to say I thought this piece would be tough to clean, but I imagine if I stay on top of it it's actually pretty painless. I shudder to think of what I'd do if it got too gunked up though. This thing has so many holes and pieces to it that Id never get it as clean as I like it.

I need my glass to stay CLEAN... im a little nutty when it comes to water pipes haha. Most people have no idea how filthy these things get and how nasty some of this bacteria can be...

I have an EQ, used it a couple of years. I was given the opportunity to beta test the original Cloud. End of story. I haven't use my EQ since. Now I use the EVO, have since beta. Interestingly, just last night I fired up my Cloud OG for the first time in a couple years, and while it isn't as aesthetically pleasing and easy to use as the EVO, the performance was every bit what I remember it to be - superb.

Don't get me wrong. The EQ is a nice little machine. I'd put it near the top in its price class. With the @DDave mod, it performs better. But - other than price - I don't think it measures up to the EVO in any way I can think of offhand. The EVO's heating system is vastly superior, the air path is glass vs using a whip (and there's no drag added), the EVO ELB is so much better and easier than the cyclone bowl or elbow pack, it mates beautifully with the flow-thru HT's (you would want a Showercap, gives very light diffusion but still some hydration, effortless pull), the vapor is however you want it to be never harsh (as the EQ can be). VXL markets the EVO as a "connoisseur's vape", and it is. That's why it costs more. But for some folks, the price difference makes the EQ the better value because it gets the job done and the extra features and subtleties in the EVO aren't worth it to them.

Before the EVO, I persuaded a friend to purchase an EQ for his first vape. He liked it. Then he used my Cloud OG, liked it a lot better, but it was out of his price range. When I offered to sell my second EVO to him at a discount, he jumped at the chance. Now he uses his EQ only when he wants to blow bags for visitors.

Is the EQ worth the price? Definitely. Is the EVO worth its higher price? Absolutely. Drive a Ford or drive a Ferrari, just a matter of choice and money.

I (now) have both the Showercap & Double, thanks to a mistake in shipping where I ordered the Showercap, but recieved the Double (then bought the Showercap at a discount!)

If you are going between the two, I recommend going with just the Double. You can always just put a little water in the Double and it's then similar to the Showercap. The Showercap is kinda a one-trick pony.

I now tend to use the 'Cap for the first couple hits, then graduate to the filled Double. The difference in flow between the 'Cap & Double (with low water) isn't that much.
