there are crazy in Germany too. no tax added up until 22EUR(very generous), but then between 20EUR and 150EUR(shipping counts towards the sum) 19%, from 150EUR on plus the respective category percentage. but Belgium seems to be even more expensive in this regard.

Import tax here is so crazy I stopped caring anywayz :(

Impart duty/tax is a complicated subject. On one hand, marking as gift is illegal if it's not actually a gift. But this is one of those laws that everyone breaks...and I can't see it being enforced on such small packages.

But it does set me up for legal consequences. And for the UK, the gift threshold before you have to pay duties on it is something like $60 usd anyhow...

So I mark my packages what they are, Original artwork.

The HR code for this category of goods is, 9703.00

From Canada to the UK there is no duties on this category, but a VAT of 5%.

On the Okin, you would expect a duty cost of about $8.25 usd

Of course, there could be some variation on this... like I said, Importing goods can be very confusing, and until I ship an Okin or two, I won't really know for sure.

The above information was based on a duties calculator, hopefully its correct!

Wht I will try to do Is make the shipping cost as low as possible for UK buyers, and absorb the cost of shipping materials, this should help offset the duties cost. Hopfully that sounds fair!

That all sounds tickety boo! :-) Not much charges at all, if it happens. Nice one!

What's more annoying than the custom fee is the fee some shipping companies will add just to handle the custom fee for you. They'll charge you an extra £15 for instance just because they can... Parcel force do and they're unfortunately working with the Canadian post.
Now the gift tag doesn't work much as stated because it's base on the value of the item anyway so what works is putting a lower value and it won't go through customs and won't get that special treatment from parcel force. What would work even better is to send it as warranty replacement = no custom fees at all.

yes, putting a lower value should be a more viable route then a gift tag.

How can you tell you're in???

Before we get confirmations nobody can tell, after all who knows how many people replied in the first few mins? Might be way way more than you see here on FC today.

Y'all are in, don't worry!

I've got about 10 spots left at the moment. When all 50 spots are filled, I'll be sending out an email saying that the pre-order list is closed.

p.s. - I can't even describe how excited I am to get started on all these Okins, and take some photos of all the different coloured boxes!

I'll be posting tons of progress photos as I craft the first batches as well. So you can see what's going on.

Edit: Even though I remember some specifically stating that they would deplore a change to a worked hardwood stem, I am really looking forward to it. Plus, it's not hard to see how it would increase the longevity of your vape. Moreover, if you desperately want a bamboo stem, it's not that hard to make one yourself, with the exception of the pretty inlays and the seamless black mouthpiece of course. Can't freaking wait to get this thing
