My UD has become my go to vape!! I leave it plugged in 24/7 so it's always ready to go. Mine runs hot so while I wait for my VK from @VoltageKeeper I have lowered the screens. I really like the fact it runs hot as I get huge clouds out of the bong, the closest to an actual bong hit from the vapes Ive tried!! I like the glass stems the best but the nylon stems get me the thickest vapor just not quite as tasty prolly due to the high temp of my dog. I also find I can run out of vapor mid hit with the nong. Big hits!!:borg:

@underdog i was wondering if I run the risk of damaging the heating element leaving it on 24/7 since it does run hot? What is the standard depth the baskets are set in the glass stems

As Madcap and Underdogette noted your hot Dog should be fine for 24/7 use until you get your VK so no real worries there.

We kind of just 'eyeball' the screen placement in the stems but usually aim for about 3/4" deep.

I found with my Underdog initially, that it needed a solid 40 minutes to heat up, so @Raz0r leave it plugged in a while.

Are you using an extension cord? And/Or a power strip? I found both lowered the output it seemed like (I don't measure) and had best results with just the standard plug right into the wall. Ymmv

Bout to walk my dog with some wonderfully stinky something or another :D

Then I'll go back outside and see if I can nurse the fire back to life.... Still smoking with good coals so it should be an easy task. Probably should stop procrastinating and get a battery pack... :hmm: eventually.

Got another piece of buckeye headed to the UD team too... I think they are turning this piece into a spaceship or something else unusual like...:science:

Hi, yes, I'm using an extension cord which was included.
At this moment I can receive expected behavior after 10 minutes with MiniDog and ~20 with Standard.
In most cases I'm using glass stem, because I can put more stuff in it. If I'm using NonG Stem, then I could make only 1-2 good pufffs from it. At this moment I need at least 2 NongStem to high :)
PS I need more practice :) Right now I'm receiving more pleasure than in first day. Also I have already received battery holder and waiting for batteries and will try my dogs with battery pack.

Hm... if size of heater will be bigger, at least like for stem from Solo, it will be cool and dangerous :leaf:

Could you recommend stems or connectors with size bigger than standard, so I need to put more stuff for one loading
The ud is designed for small loads but the glass stems are going to provide the largest capacity ... the nongs and nylon stems are basically one hitters. To give you better results with the glass stems there are 3 things I'd suggest ... try it without the extension cord, get some of the high temp silicone o rings that underdog sells to make a seal between the heater core and stem, and get a vvps so you can fine tune the heat on your pups. The battery pack could help you out with the last one but I like to use my standard core ud in the high 13 to low 14 volt range when I'm using glass stems and the battery pack only goes up to 13. When you provide more heat you can push the screen in further and load more bud at one time.

Has anyone rigged up a way to use something like an ELB or a pinnacle pro bullet with their underdog? I would like a way to use my UD in its standing position without risking my material dropping into the heater. I have been unsuccessful so far I finding a working method for this but I feel like some sort of encapsulated screen will be needed.

I have a shorty glass stem that I love, but when I use it with a bubbler I find it very hot to grab the glass stem after a hit and clear the bubbler. This could be remedied by just getting a longer Gong but I like the short stem from an aesthetic perspective.

Totally unnecessary as my underdogs are rock solid performers, but I'm just a tinkerer by nature and enjoy finding little mods by which I can use my vaporizers effectively in a different way.

Anyone have a suggestion I could try and rig up?

Screen sandwich (Screen/herb/screen). I use to do this until I decided holding it horizontally or a slight angle is much easier. But it does the job, keeping bits out of the heater.

That's a tough one, the UD is designed around small bowls so as to maximize efficiency so we don't offer anything larger than the glass stems. Larger than that you rapidly start to lose heat and efficiency. The Nylon/NonG stems are designed to basically be 1 hitters and the glass stems are designed to provide 2-5 hits with stirring. We include 4 stems with each Dog so you can load up multiple stems at a time and then sit back and enjoy.:2c:

Just received my new Zap myrtle 'dog in the mail and gotta say it's an awe-inspiring Beautiful piece. Plugged in and heating up now for it's inaugural evening of use.

Many Thanx to Underdogette and Underdog, y'all Rock.

Thank YOU man, you're the one who rocks lol.. glad you were able to pick up the ZapDog. I have a few pieces of wood from @Rick left and like to slowly work them into the mix. I think we have a couple more Myrtle and then a handful of Blue Pine and Cedar from their Howling Hills Farm that Rick actually cut and milled himself.

As @NickDlow mentioned a screen sandwich is a good method, I've also had some luck just tucking a little piece of organic cotton on top of the herb to act as a top screen.

To alleviate finger burning I'd say try the stem o-rings from the site.. you just roll them onto the GonG until you have a grab-pad wherever and as large as you want. The silicone stays a bit cooler than the glass and gives you a good, more comfortable way to grip the GonG.

unplugged my solo charger for the first time today, i havent used it since the dog turned up. the weird thing is, i still dont feel i have got anywhere near the best from the dog yet but i am so nicely stoned and using so little gear that i just keep going

so here is one that may help others, mine runs very hot, got the power cable, a 6' extension and a 15' one as well. it was power - 6 - 15 and still got uncomfortable hot at times. today changed it to power - 15 - 6 and it is deffo cooler. go figure this technology shit eh

got a dimmer on the way and looking to source a vvps here in uk next

I use a small piece of cut silicone tubing around the glass near where the heater is so that the heat isn't uncomfortable. But you will have to get some larger than normal diameter tubing to do it properly as the tubing that I used (5/16"IDx7/16"OD Med-X tubing from PV) with my Arizer Extreme Q whips was a little too small inner diameter and I just about rubbed my fingerprints off working it onto the short Gong.

I will pick up a short piece of larger diameter tubing next time I place an order from PV just for this purpose and also so that the silicone isn't stretched so thin over the glass as it is now. It does make it safe to touch - but it is still very hot through the silicone - which wouldn't be the case with a larger ID tube and thicker un-stretched tube walls. I think a thick piece of silicone would be far better than the o-ring solution. At least for heat protection from the glass.......not the case for the o-rings for the core which I think is pretty much a necessity.

I really wish that I had known prior to ordering that the glass stems fit the UD core the way they do because from what I've experienced I'd say that the silicone core o-rings are pretty well a necessity with the glass stems and I would have ordered them at the same time I ordered my UD. Perhaps the price of the glass stems could be raised by about 50 cents and just include one with every glass stem?

But I am pretty happy with my Nongs and the SS tip SonGs that I created and the performance of these tips - but a larger loading chamber would be nice for when my VVPS gets here - so I'll have to find some high temperature o-rings locally sometime soon.
