I don't know buddy, from browsing the discussion around this thing I get the unnerving impression it willl be like brandishing a mystical firewand of writers-block annihlation...

One thing I have noticed about the GH is you can't really draw slowly through it. They have some way of detecting that you're drawing so that they can auto-shutoff and maintain temperature, but it's not very sensitive. Unless you create a fairly fast draw speed, the GH will shut off while you're drawing. It won't even give you 18 seconds, mine shuts off 13 seconds after the light turns from red to blue if I'm not pulling fast enough. I don't think it even maintains temperature because I don't get much vapor. Once you get a high enough draw speed it's great and provides nice clouds, but I've been doing keef sandwiches and wanted to use a slow draw speed to melt the keef a bit, but since I have to use the high draw speed I end up sucking some right out (so I wouldn't recommend it without a water tool). I was expecting to be able to "sip" vapor out a bit more, but so far the best technique on this device is to rip it pretty hard each time.

EDIT: You do have to maintain the high draw rate throughout the draw. I tried drawing fast the first few seconds then going slow and it still turned it off before I was finished.

I did not expect to be able to sip from a GH, but it's good to know I wouldn't be able to if I wanted to. Bummer, although fat rips are more what I was hoping for from it anyway.

i'm baffled as to how this works as a one hitter click and hit. Doesnt the herb chamber still remain hot after 3 or 4 pulls?

It works fine as one. You click it on, take a big hit (or two or three), turn it off, take a last draw and you are set. Because it's convection the air is heated and is hot. The chamber doesn't remain "hot" in the sense of continuing to cook the flower (at least not that I've noticed).

Has anyone received a color Ti unit yet?

I think that might be a reasonable expectation, especially considering this is a convection device. It probably works best with a lot of airflow anyways. So I can't use kif in it.. oh well. You'll definitely get your fat rips

I hate those auto-shut off features on vaporizers. There should be an option to turn it off.

18 seconds (or 13!!) is way too short before the auto-shut off. This device doesn't even cook your herb when you don't draw so there's no real need for auto-shut off beside to save batteries life. At worst, the auto-shut off should be 1 minute. No auto-shut off would be even better.

I also like to draw slowly (I vary draw speed). The GH doesn't have a lot of draw resistance (from the little reviews I've read) so it's even easier to draw slowly and get good results...if it didn't auto-shut off.

Are you saying that you end up with vegetable matter in your mouth?

Interesting, so its like the Elevape, need a fast draw, which many smokers like. Only things is the risk there with drawing too slow is combustion, here its just no vapor?

Nice thing about Zion is both work equally well, other variables could be inplay though too, whereas this is a bit more automatic?

Kiefwise conduction is typically easier (Indica is great with it), but it works in Elevape with fine screens, Zion worked too (that was through a bubbler that I tried though), maybe just put an extra fine screen in the Hopper for kief? Kief definitely didn't work well in the T1 either though, so this is still similar to that imo

I would venture to guess that the pull strength needed to keep the heater on depends on how packed the chamber is, since the pull sensor is obviously up on the board... behind the herbs one takes pulls through, no?

I typically like to start on 2.5 for a couple flavor hits straight out of the unit with no bubbler. But I still have to pull hard enough that it did pull some kief into my mouth so I use a bubbler now if there is kief. This is even with a slightly tamped herb sandwich. The screens aren't fine enough for kief. But they are probably also easier to clean and maintain. Cotton may improve the situation...

Yeah it seems like if you draw too slow the heater won't bother keeping up and you won't get much vapor. I don't own a zion, but from what I can see it looks like a variable-voltage convection vape that doesn't maintain an actual temperature like the GH does.

I doubt there is an actual flow sensor. They are probably just measuring temperature drop or something along those lines. So if you don't pull hard enough to make the temperature drop x degrees per unit of time it won't bother making adjustments and will auto-shutoff.

I really can't see why they felt this was necessary...

A slow draw does work in my experience, you just have to pull hard once in a while to cool down the heater and make it work harder and thereby let it know you want it to stay on. I do still often have it shut off on me mid-draw when I lose track and don't keep on top of it. I'm pretty sure that this idle function is there to help you save battery should you forget to shut it off. It's just unfortunate that it's not 'smart' enough to recognize a light draw and stay awake.

I think you're right here, if it was actually airflow as is sensed with normal e-cigs or the ESV (which uses the same sensor) it would be very easy to detect modest airflows with GH as it is with them. Only I bet GH 'knows' because the heater power drops below a fixed level when there is not enough fresh (cold) air to heat.

I'm not sure if it's necessary, but without it GH would run even hotter and eat up it's battery even faster in standby......both things they're trying to avoid?

Agreed. Guys will hopefully 'learn to live with it'. Something like the 8 seconds 'safety time out' that comes with e-cig vape pens?

I don't think this is a session type of vaporizer in which you would stay on stand-by with the temperature on. Even if you vape with another person it's an on-demand vape. You click it on and off, before and after each draw. You can't really forget to click it off! Hence, why i'm baffled by the auto-shut off. It's totally uncessasary in this vape or at least put it at 1 minute. I hope they still have the time to change that aspect.

I like to have the freedom to draw slowly or harder.

According to most people, if you let it run for a minute before timing out you'd be letting almost a quarter of the battery life drain away..

I know, but I wouldn't even put any auto-shut off on this thing since you click on and off to take a toke. There's absolutely no reason to keep it on after you draw from it. It's an on-demand vape like the MFLB and Firefly. If you leave it on, it's like you forgot to pull out the battery on the magic flight box (although the box continue to cook your herb while the hopper does not).

Re-watch Buzz Danklin's video with his roommate. They intended to shut the gh off after each pull and during their testing. It didn't take too long before the "forgot". Pretty funny, actually. But it shows a good reason for the auto shutoff.
