Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

Absolutely @Davinci_vaporizer, I wouldn't recommend changing the battery yourself until you know pretty much what you are doing. That's why I said his instructions are a bit simplistic and lack essential aspects.

I also suspected the gutting process would leave some scars or would not be completely reversible, thank you for confirming that.

I've seen it done and its very troublesome and you need new parts after you do it. We made sure there is no way to take apart the Ascent and put it back together yourself. We'll see how creative these guys get though.

Anyone ever get the bowl to look new (white) again? magic eraser didn't work
thanks
What percentage alcohol are you using? I've found when I do cleanings with 70% it doesn't get it 100% clean. 90%+ is best.

Also, the best way to make sure your bowl will always stay white is to clean it often. It stains because of excessive build up.

I belive @OF mentioned using toothpaste in the thread before. Try a really small amount of toothpaste paired with the magic eraser. There are small abrasive materials in the toothpaste that can help. When done, wipe the bowl clean with a paper towel.

I think I might actually be innocent this time? While I've used toothpaste for cleaning (sometimes even my teeth.....) I'd be a little concerned you can't rinse it clean out of Ascent? Since I haven't tried it, I would not recommend it.

OTOH, it might give the unit 'a fresh, mint taste that lasts for hours)?

I hesitate to bring this up, as it's ripe for abuse and problems, but we're big boys and girls here so...... How about carefully plugging the four holes in the bottom of the bowl with cut off round toothpicks? Cut each one off so it seats solidly (sealing) without sticking out too far below. Cut the tops off even with the oven top. Then carefully put a dab of toothpaste (mild abrasive) on a toothpick end and go to work on the corners. Replace the paste as needed, but try to keep the quantity low as possible for the job. Clean up with damp (water) q-tips, leaving the plugs in place. I'd do a second 'rinse down' before carefully pulling the plugs. A tiny bit of the toothpaste isn't a big deal really, but not what you want to be adding to your bud I think?

Guilty as charged..

No you aren't :p
I actually tried it a while back before converting to the AA.. After your proposition - which I was very grateful for.
Having made the Xp, I would not recommend it. It's quite tricky to get a tiny mount of tooth paste in it and even more to scrub or what ever thoroughly. In the end I could not rinse it completely... I still had tota paste debris around that half circled puck thingy down there. Even tooth picks and different stuff didn't work for me. Never got it like new again - especially the bottom is almost Impossible to get clean after usage... That was another minus for me.

I reported previously a method I tried successfully. I steam cleaned the bowl as though.

Thanks gangababa What exactly are you steaming it with? Holding the whole bottom of the unit over a vegetable steamer on a stove top? what are you rubbing/scrapping with?

Read my post where I say this (and more).
"I took about half of a cotton ball, soaked it in water, squeezed lightly and pushed the wet cotton into the bowl, holding the Ascent upside down so excess water would fall out while the cotton was pressed in against the inner surfaces. I turned the Ascent on at 100 Celsius; actually a bit higher. The water in the cotton steamed and softened the baked bowl-brown. I did this with the glass stems in place and held the Ascent upright. Steam rose from the stem and water drops condensed within. I closed the oven. This could also be done with the oven open."

Preaching to the choir.
Living where I do in a country to which no one--absolutely no one--will deliver a product of any kind I have had to rely on the travel of friends to bring me items of desire. Sometimes this means I have to wait.
I ordered my Ascent last April and had it sent to a friend of mine with plans to travel to this part of the world. He delivered it the week before last and I am very, very pleased. It has been worth the 4-month wait.
I have been vaping for maybe 15 years; beginning with an original Aromazap and trying numerous other types: several from Vapor Genie, a Vapir, an off-brand vapor pen, and then what was my fave--a now 7 year old Herbalaire (a much under-rated and under-appreciated machine IMHO.)
My new, lovely, carbon-fiber Ascent has in this short time become my #1 vape. The Herbalaire will serve well at parties--can't beat that 3 balloon setup--but the Ascent has been within my reach 24/7 since I unpacked it 10 days ago.
The battery is amazing. I get high every day--not stoned, but high--and I was able to use the Davinci as well as get friends high all week without having to recharge it yesterday. That's nine days before I had to plug it back in.
The AVB coming out of the crucible looks just right. I save all of it and use it to make tincture (that's another story).
I am in my 60's and have been in love with cannabis for about 45 years. It takes a bit to get me excited about a product, but this is a great, little device. I am very happy with it.
Peace,
HG

Wow what a story!! What country are you in where it's that difficult to find an Ascent if you don't mind me asking? We have pretty stable international options in the EU, South America, and Australia.

So glad to hear you're in love with your vaporizer. It's stories like this that keep us doing what we do. Thank you, and all of FC for the constant inspiration to innovate and change the way people think about vaporizing.

I have resided in one of the Kingdoms of Southeast Asia for a bit more than 20 years. Some years ago it was not a problem to receive "mail order", but there now seems to be a number of businesses and corporations that either flatly refuse to deliver to The Kingdom, or will not send to a PO Box. As my home address is "un-named road"...a PO is the only option. DHL delivers, but is very expensive.
Thanks for asking.

The F Bomb if you buy it through Planetvape comes in 2 sizes the 14 or 18mm sizes. You shouldnt have any problems with it breaking the GonG its made very sturdy. I prefer using a GonG while I vaporize with the Ascent rather than the stock glass stems. Personal preference is all.

A WonG from @Ed's TnT is a must. A WonG works out really well too as a mouthpiece.

I actually live in Southeast Asia as well. I work out in Shenzhen. If you ever need any accessories or replacement parts, perhaps you can PM me and we can work out some sort of shipment directly from the factory. Most addresses here don't include a street.

Will do if I ever figure out how to PM on this site. (I'm old)
