Vaporbrothers 2.5

Hello all,
This is definitely exciting news, I have been a VB2 owner for almost a year now, and I have loved it so much. It really did change the way that I medicate.
The question I have for @t-dub and @GR is have you experienced any of the same problems that came up with the VB2?
My VB2 has been out of service for almost 2 months because the brain has been malfunctioning for a long time and I finally decided it was to out of whack to use safely.
(The auto shut off feature is not engaging, causing the top half of the unit to get very hot, and it doesnt seem to be able to change temperatures, its either Off or on the highest possible setting, with no blinking lights in between heat levels to indicate a change in temperature or to let you know that it has reached the desired temperature)
I have been in contact with Vapor Brothers and will be sending out my unit this week.
It would be a shame if I spent the big dollars on this nice upgrade only to be caught dealing with the same types of issues on the previous model.

My VB2.5 is running strong like Russian tractor . . .

Like @GR experienced, the heater kept burning out on my VB2.0. The only anomaly I have witnessed on my VB2.5 is the length of the off timer. It seems to be about 20 minutes when it was programmed for 10. Other than that it has been rock solid.

@thegoo, since the 2.5 heater was added to my unit I have had no problems at all. After all the drama of heater failure after 3-4 days many times in a row it is just amazing to not have to deal with all the drama. I have not used anything but my 2.0 Frankensteined to a 2.5 unit for oil in months.

BTW I ordered VB2.5 serial#001 so hopefully soon this thread can move!

I guess I shouldn't feel bad I killed a Brand New Unit in just a couple weeks, they replaced my heater so how would I know if they upgraded my heater ?

The VB2.5 does not use the ceramic discs. The new heater has a dimple and is made of a different material, silicone nitride, and is a darker color. The temp settings on the VB2.5 are continuously variable not stepped like the VB2.0. Also the "Ready" LED color is purple and the heat up time on the VB2.5 is much quicker, like 30 seconds. I doubt they would have upgraded you without mentioning it as the new heater, and related electronics, are a lot more expensive.

That was what I was thinking but after repair it made a different sound so I was curious as to the differences.

My repaired unit still gets extremely hot at times so hopefully I don't have any more sudden death instances as I too am hard on my units use wise.

@GR
well come on dont keep us waiting now, HOW IS IT?

I thought my silence summed it up perfectly! Lol.

While on the surface the only difference from the 2.0 to the 2.5 is color, the guts of this beast is a whole diffent animal.

Heat up from a cold start to the highest temp is 30sec (27sec sometimes ) and any temp change during operation is a matter of a few seconds for it to stabilize at the new setting. This fits my needs perfect, nothing hot left on for the cats or children to knock over and burn the house down or burn themselves. Turn on, get dab, do dab, turn off, it takes me longer to type this then to actually get a dab off the vb2.5 from a cold start.

Dabbing directly onto the silicon nitride surface is so easy. What else can I say, it is a great, strong material, it's just there with no fuss, no taking it out, maybe just a scape of the buildup with the dabbler but I have not had to do that, turn it up burn it off. I have not done bubble in this unit but have in my 2.0 that was converted to the 2.5 heater and it was the best flavor I ever got from bubble ( the first part was tasty but the second part combusts and I don't combust ). Something I need to do more side by side tests of are the ceramic disk inserts vs dabbing on the silicon nitride, a small test the other day was showing some difference in the feel of the vapor density and flavor, something else to play with.

Temp control is just amazing. I have not been playing much with my thermocoupler lately since flavor from my oils is far more useful feedback when using the vb2.5. I do like the feedback of watching the watts a unit is pulling during use, this unit when at set temp keeps a tight dead band to maintain temp (a huge improvement over my converted 2.0). All this translates into when I set the dial to a temp it should consistently be right at that temp every time and my flavor chasing is confirming this.

The 2.5 is definitely a huge step up from the 2.0 but it is not for everybody. The 2.5 is worth it if you have access to many varieties of top shelf oil, do said oils in more then 4 sessions a day, think it's fun to watch giant men have to be carried out of my house after a session (2.0 can do this easily as well), simply an impatient person and 5 minutes heat up is torture. The 2.0 will fit most oil heads needs with class and style and 3 temp setting to find the best place for your dabs so be sure to do your research to get the best match of VB for yourself.

Edit: bTW I did some research on enails kits that I would purchase and $950-1350 is what I kept ending up with in my shopping cart and I still can't do a dab off of it without attaching it to something, not seeing the huge saving when I would have to spend more then a vb2.5 to have a complete dabbing kit.

Thanks for taking the time to respond with such a detailed post. I have been thinking about this unit, ever since its existence came to light. It sounds amazing and just how I imagined it. I have had my 2.0 for a year now and while it has had its fair share of problems, it has been my daily driver and I would be lost without it.
I am basically ready to buy the 2.5, I have contacted VB about it, I am just concerned that there are basically no production units out there except yours. I do not want to spend $1200 and have to send it back anytime soon.

As far as comparable enails go...I have found similar price ranges as you (mainly with d-nail), however, you can now get full set ups from reputable companies like errlectric for $375(minus glass of course) which make the sturdiness of this unit paramount.

I will end this note by stating my extreme jealousy of you and your new unit. Use it well.

@thegoo

I know of 3 test models that have the 2.5 heater in them before this official 2.5 was made, I have 1, my buddy has 1, and t-dub, there could be more. i have had mine for a few months and it has been trouble free and the improvement to the official 2.5 make it even better. I say go for it!

I want one of these sooooooo bad!! Im like most though. It took forever for me to justify $600 purchases with vaping. This is twice as much. @vaporbrothers I have no doubts about this device and its capabilities, but do you guys think there may be a way to offer a version of the 2.5 at a more affordable price? Older casing newer heater bowl? I'm a blue collar working father of 3 (4 With the furry one)
$1200 Just screams irresponsible for someone with all my responsibilities. To be honest I'm more of a recreational user. If it were strictly medicinal I could probably justify it more. I couldn't justify that amount knowing that i could find something sub-par to suit my needs. However I suffer from the wanting the best out of life syndrome. My research says THIS IS THE BEST!!:bowdown:No comparisons to the point it's just futuristic. I was all ready to buy an Eerrlectric, then @stickstones had to pull my coat to this BEAST! Thanks a lot bro!
I feel like the kid in the window watching everyone else buy an Ice cream from the Ice Cream truck and I don't have enough money! I have access to some SUPER TOP SHELF concentrates now an I don't want to even use them knowing I could be using them in VB2.5! :rockon:I guess I'll have to continue settling for my EVO dabs.:bang:

I'd be really interested to hear what people who've used the 2.5 think of the sapphire halo nail from d-nail that I just got in beta?

It really is hands down tastier than silicon carbide, I wonder how it fares against silicon nitride, and the VB 2.5 is the only safe unit using this material so far.

Alright boys well the vb 2.5 was shipped out to me today with the inline bubbler as well and since I live in Northern Cali only about 6 hour drive from Vapor Brothers Warehouse it shouldn't take long to get here. Looking through the comments it seems like I am the first to pay full retail for this bad boy which not gonna lie hit the bank account with some oomf but hopefully will all be worth it and can get rid of those cold spots I was having with the 2.0......Now its just a waiting game :) :)

Ok so lets talk temperatures @GR , what do you like running the vb 2.5 at temp wise for small hits and what do you like running it at for large hits? I am kinda noticing a slights heat and itchiness if I hit it at full temp but that could also be due to the type of crumble I am currently using. 75% heat on the dial produces a nice taste but not that 100% dial insta dab cloud...thoughtts?

howeverrr the 75% to 80% does seem to work very well for the micro dabs - and the 2.5 has completely eliminated all the cold spot issues I was having with my larger hits on the vb 2 which I am loving

ok gang after killing one of my VB2's twice I upgraded and just received VB2.5 0004 and I must say I am very much pleased. I love the fact I turn it on, use it, and turn it back off in 90 seconds. If mine runs like the others and I quote "a tractor" and mine just runs I will be a very happy camper!!

panage: I agree on the cold spot issue you mentioned on a VB2, gone on 2.5, alsmo seem's like it hits much smoother....

Nah I was first to pay full price, I paid for mine on 9/18 and shipped back my dead VB2 for a refund plus a check for the price difference from the 2 - 2.5 and took delivery of mine yesterday #0004, all that aside who gives a shit about being first, i am just happy that all my complaints about the VB2 seem to have been addressed as far as I can tell but time will tell......

I got you both beat, I have VB2.5 #0001 and the special vb2.5 that is white with serial #0000 was a special build they did for me to give to my buddy before they where even sure there would be a 2.5, I paid full retail for both this summer. Lol I guess I do care.

Well you both found out just how easy it is to dial in! 70% to full blast is my typical range, if I walk up to a cold unit it is always full power. I prefer for any multiple dab session is to warm the the unit up for 2-3 min on 50-60% power ( I am forgetful, don't like running full power for long periods) before starting a multiple dab session, nothing worse to me then going in for a second dab and the tail end of dab 1 is still fuming, the warm up eliminates the elongated fuming. With a preheated vb2.5 you can go as low as 50% power with small dabs and play with flavor! I suggest a carb cap for micro dabs to help with draw of the small dabs. If I do many walk up turn on full dab and turn off I find A high heat burn off of wax residue is necessary about every 5 or so dabs, very simple and is self explanatory once you notice it happening.

I have run the ceramic disks on the 2.5 heater, I do not suggest doing it to your machine but I have two so I do things average people would not, lol, it reflects so much heat to the body and electronics it can't be good. Hot/cold spots are still there, it is also hard to believe how much preheating it takes to get that ceramic to dab temperature, just love the silicon nitride surface! @herbivore21 , life keeps getting the way of ordering that disk! It is going to happen soon and I am excited to compare the two surfaces.

Really, any temp setting works, you'll just learn to adapt with experience. A few pointers and tips for the new owners…
Get used to the huge ceramic dish and heater and how it's so temperature stable - you don't need to rush your dabs like before. I like to draw the first tendrils of vapor onto my palate for a moment, before finishing the majority of the dab. This initiates and coats the palate with flavor that endures well through the lesser remainders. I've dabbed with pretty much every method you've ever read about, and nothing, NOTHING even comes close to the flavor intensity of those tendrils.
Another treat is plain old direct injection, using a straw or whip. There is that special something about the vapor produced by silicon nitride, it just doesn't carry that caustic heat load that other surfaces imbue, which allows you to take un-filtered, un-diluted, un-believably potent hits. I try to save those for the end of a long weekend - when nothing else is left working in the medicine cabinet.
As GR mentioned, a carb cap can also be of benefit if you like stronger dabs. You can make a quick sample with some cardboard and scissors, but some silicone ice trays, 1" nested paper punch and leather punch will produce a professional cap to slide over your dabber and seal the top as you dab. This lessens ambient air dilution and focuses the integral intake air over the dab plate which enhances vaporization. (sorry-lol)
and just to set things straight - VB2.5-00!

Ok everbody!
My fallen VB2 is en route to Vapor Brothers HQ, and I am eagerly awaiting my upgraded VB 2.5
I am super excited. I have been without my baby for almost 8 weeks now (before there was an upgrade program I was trying to save $$ for a brand new 2.5).

As a side note, nothing compares to a fully functional VB 2/2.5(hopefully).
I have tried every which way to re create the awesomeness which is the Cheese box and have been unable to do so.

O man, I really miss it now.
