Where has it been confirmed that they went to China again? I must of missed that.

That's what I'd like to know. I think someone misinterpreted them saying they were working out issues with the production line to mean they went to China. But I'm hoping the person starting that rumor clears this up.

It would be an interesting explanation of recent events if they did indeed go to China to deal with a bad manufacturer. Would of course mean potential delays while new parts are made/shipped.

I get assembly hiccups--scratches and some dents. New company.

I also get some threads could get locked. Overseas manufacturer.

But what I don't get is sending units that could overheat. That's safety. No matter how cool or innovative a vape is or can be, it must be safe above all. Am I overreacting or expecting too much?

That may very well be. I don't claim to know anything and I have zero inside information. However if the vape is getting hot where it shouldn't be then something is wrong somewhere. And we have seen in some cases, with e-cigs, batteries exploding on folks when they are subjected to high levels of stress and/or unorthodox/improper use.

Without definitive explanatory information directly from GH, absolutely 100% VALID concern still in question!

We had one FCer say that got burned from the overheating @EllenDegeneres , and another @linux3214 who thought the back end overheating was a normal thing. I'm not calling out GHL or saying the product is faulty. I just feel obliged to remind FCers who are awaiting orders to know to look for this potential problem.

Edit: sorry I was replying to @thegoo and got caught in the edits.

It really surprises me that Matt and Trevor would let any visually defective units out to the public. In the past they kept pushing release back and justifying those delays by saying the gh wasn't up to their standards. I agree that safety concerns should be of the utmost importance but I am also worried about letting their standards and attention to detail slip. A heater malfunctioning may not be directly observable in initial testing(even though some have noticed this straight out of the box) but "rat bites" are something that is not easily missed. Also, I am not sure how comprehensive their testing is but I hope they start being more thorough. I can't wait to hear back from @HillaryClinton about his correspondents with ghl.

Edit: just FYI not justifying or excusing the overheating just saying out of any issue I can't believe they would let blatant cosmetic issues out the door.

Just examples, but YES this must be addressed, not saying the GH would do this but its possible if the battery gets to hot and goes nuclear. I hope they never have to deal with that, cause it can ruin lifes and the company they just started, both terrible things.

The guy everyone's referring to that was talking about the China trip was going back and forth with me all day on Reddit. I have no idea where he came up with that. I can't find any reference myself (may not have searched hard enough), other than the trip in March.

And all I know is after I told him that I enjoyed our banter and that he had made some good points. He responded with something like that's all he wanted to hear (I guess me saying he had some good ideas?) And he proceeded to delet all his comments but a very few.

You go look now and it looks like I was talking to a ghost. Lol

Actually that was kind of my point when I brought it up, but I may not have worded it very clearly- just meant to point out a crazy rumor that was flying around, but I guess that kind of back fired...

I don't think it backfired, I just chimed in because I was the one he was going back and forth with. And as I stated he deleted the majority of his posts. He's a "new pre order", and if you had anything negative to say he wouldn't have it. Hell I just preordered in May myself. And like everyone else I have opinions and theories just like anyone. I did a lot of research before I ordered, and knew what I was getting into. And I challenged him to go back and read some of the previous updates and maybe he would understand where some of the negativity comes from. I also told him that if we were still waiting after two years like the backers now have, I'd check back and see how our "attitude was then".
And if you notice the thread on reddit, as soon as I said he made some good points, he was done. I was too at that point. I think he just wanted someone to reassure him and he wasn't getting it.
I think there are still some of his comments about the trip still there, that he was discussing with someone else. Don't know why he just deleted the ones from me. He may have deleted some others but I really don't know.

So I received my replacement unit today.... they sent me another unit that has a back end that wont come off! Additionally. this unit does not have the honeycomb cover inside the chamber. I have not sent an email yet because, well that would be a bad idea. I am out of patience and beyond irritated. How the hell do they not check the replacement being send out for the issues my first unit had??

This is getting ridiculous.
I said this before, the previous update where they showed the boxes. Some ready to ship and some in GH boxes. I bet they didn't open a single one of those boxes and check those units knowing they were having issues. IMO they sent all those out and still are.

Again, ridiculous. SMH

I feel for you @Grepper that is a tad farcical!

They really need to get a hold of these problems with failing units and what seems like manufacturing/assembly faults and let the backers/preorders know the situation before it gets out of hand and their reputation is soiled.

I admire you for holding back @Grepper I know I would find that very hard indeed. I think you made the right decision.

Good luck with the outcome
