EZVapes seem to have a pretty good deal. when I ordered they had a coupon bringing my 3 piece down to $38 and change. Shipping was $5.

original scheduled delivery date was saturday. the package jumped between a couple sorting facilities in columbus, and if im lucky, will arrive today.. though i have my doubts. EZvapes had good service and shipped fairly quick but i really am not a fan of the USPS. tracking shows "sort complete" but not "out for delivery" so fingers crossed that it arrives today and i can stop having to pack everything by hand. this will be the last package i let the post office deliver to/from me.

on the plus side i've saved a bit on bud by being too lazy to hand-pack. one of my friends found my old grinder at the bottom of some recycling (lol) but at this point im just gonna keep the new one anyway. the old one (american grinder) should be interesting to compare to the SCS.

EZVape has the 3 piece on Amazon for $40.50 with free shipping. If you message the store, they will match their own price.

I finally finished reading this entire thread. To me, one thing sticks out as the highlight of the thread, and I think it's worth checking out.

On July 16, 2011, the term Santa Cruz Shredder appeared in this thread for the first time: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herb-grinders.15/page-106#post-9542.

Not another word about Santa Cruz Shredder for 15 months. Nothing.

Then on October 2, 2012, someone else mentioned Santa Cruz Shredder. I'm not going to tell you what happened after that. (OK, yes I am. Basically every other brand of grinders stopped mattering on October 2, 2012, and not much has changed since then.) Check it out. It's pretty awesome: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herb-grinders.15/page-127#post-283187.

Having first ordered two grinders from EZVAPES via Amazon, then another three grinders directly from EZVAPES, I agree. In fact, I decided to order both of the Space Cases I linked to yesterday (from EZGRINDERS), with the 10% summer discount code. ($17 + $22 = $39, minus $3.90 = $35.10 total, including shipping, which would have cost a few bucks if I had only bought one of the grinders.) Two Space Cases for 35??? Hell yeah, I'll take that, even though I'm never going to need either one of them.

If EZVAPES carried the AroMed, I most likely would've bought that from them, too. Before purchasing the AroMed from Vapor Nation, I actually did look for it on EZVAPES.

This is kind of interesting: I had suspected EZVAPES and EZGRINDERS were related (or the same company?). Yesterday I missed a phone call. When I checked my phone, it said I missed a call from EZVAPES, even though it was actually EZGRINDERS calling to let me know one of the Space Cases I ordered won't be in stock until today or tomorrow.

As some of you may know, EZVAPES is based in Toms River, New Jersey, and EZGRINDERS is based in San Francisco. Yet every time I receive a call from either of them, the incoming call comes from the same Massachusetts phone number. (I think it's always the same guy, too.)

Anyway, I'm inclined to think both of these businesses are basically operated entirely by one dude in Massachusetts, excluding the warehouses. And I'm still not sure if EZGRIND is a house brand. (I suspect it is, but I really don't care.)

Oh yeah. If you make the decision to buy from either of these two vendors, definitely compare the prices between the two web sites before you order.

I realize I have posted to this thread a ton lately, and that most of y'all are probably sick of seeing my posts, but I think what I have to say here is worth remembering: If you want a whole bunch of nice, blonde kief, get yourself a Diamond Grind 5-piece.

This grinder is nothing special for the most part, and it's definitely not a "luxury" grinder, but it sifts kief like a champion. Which is something none of my four 4-piece Santa Cruz Shredders can do. (Yes, I did indicate recently that the mini SCS might be awesome in this department, but I have since changed my mind.) No picture right now, but I should have one soon. I want to wait for a little more to accumulate.

As my understanding of what constitutes good kief evolves, so might my opinion of this grinder. But I think (specifically as a result of using this grinder) that my understanding of what constitutes good kief has evolved considerably over the last couple days.

Kief is all really personal preferences IMO.

I for one, only really want to collect the absolute smallest and finest of particles that slip through tight screens. I am curious, would you post some pics of your collections?

That's exactly what my mini SCS does. However, the extremely fine particles in the bottom of the SCS appear green. My current interpretation is that these fine green particles are just flower dust. The blonde particles in the bottom of my Diamond Grind are considerably bigger and have what appears to be a crystalline structure. (I'm actually not sure if this is clear to the naked eye because I spend a lot of time looking at this stuff through a 20x loupe.)

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. I have so much to learn.

Yeah, I'll try to remember to post pics. Not sure if I have anything good to photograph right now, though.

EDIT: The first two pics are a large Santa Cruz Shredder, after putting 2 g through it, I believe. The third pic is my mini SCS. I don't have a picture of the Diamond Grind yet.

I can provide feedback on a compton grinder! I have been using a medium sized 4 piece for a while now.

It is epic. The grind is super fine (finer than the acrylic sharktooth grinder I got with my Mighty!!!), the magnet action is fucking spot on, that top piece of the grinder is not going anywhere! The grips on the sides are the best I have ever seen on any grinder by a very, very long shot. The bud grinds through the holes around the teeth to the kief screen middle chamber bud storage section perfectly without assistance being required (so long as you don't overload it. The removable kief screen is again the very best quality I have ever seen, with ease of removability another major plus!

I would heartily recommend Compton Grinders to anybody!
@herbivore21 - based on your high regard for the Compton grinder, I have placed my order with Mass Drop. Looks like a real winner!!!

Been using a Sharp Stone grinder for years , its a 3pc , never had a problem . Recently got a Magic flight finishing grinder for when i really need a super fine grind and it works well. Just takes a bit more time to grind compared to most grinders bc it really grinds super fine which some of my vapes i find work better with this. I hear all this talk of the Santa Cruz shredders and realized i had gotten a free 1pc with one of my vape purchases a few years ago and gave it to my dad. I would have kept it if i knew they were so good. Now i got to figure out a way to switch that santa cruz for my plastic freebie i never use , i wonder if he'll notice lol.

@FlyingLow Here are a couple pics of the Diamond Grind 56 mm 5-piece. I'm going to clean it out soon and start over with collecting kief because some things I've tried with this grinder have left a noticeable amount of what I imagine is flower dust in the kief collector.

Considering how many people seem to prefer kief-sifting grinders to 2-pieces, I'm surprised 5-piece grinders are neither more widely available nor more popular. I sent an email to Santa Cruz Shredder a couple days ago, telling them my perfect grinder would be a Santa Cruz Shredder 5-piece with the same screens as my Diamond Grind, in addition to the best characteristics found in my four SCS 4-pieces, many of which are physically different between all four grinders.

For example, one of them has no grooves or ridges around the male part of the lid, one of them has vertical grooves, one of them has horizontal grooves, and one of them has nearly-invisible horizontal grooves. Similarly, the threading feels (and looks) different between some of the grinders, with one of them being almost infinitely better than the others. Some of these design characteristics are simply better than other ones. If you took certain characteristics from each of my Shredders, in addition to the one or two characteristics I love about the Diamond Grind, and put them all into one SCS, you would have created my perfect grinder.

Even though I already shared the following pictures several posts back, here they are again, so you can see both sets of pictures pretty much side-by-side.

^^^ Mini 4-piece SCS with very fine screen. This picture is kind of deceptive, as this grinder has never contained even half as much kief as what appears to be in this kief collector. It is extremely fine grained particles, though. (If I'm using any improper terminology, someone please correct me.)

Large scs and compton grinders are being massdropped atm

WAAAA!!! Both are 4 pc! But, thanks for the tip!

I get why many like a 4 pc, but I'm not a big fan. I use one of the few I have on rare occasion (and have one for primary use at my other main vaping place), but prefer a 2 pc and have been looking for another. You do have to dump it to use the ground material, but I have plenty of little trays and dishes for this I've accumulated over the years.

I prefer the control of the fineness of the grind a 2 pc provides, and would rather have all those resin heads in my load than save them for later.

Compton Owners:
Whats the verdict?
How are they breaking in?
Do you like them as much as your previous grinds?

The only thing I really don't like is the missing teeth for loading.
I'd rather manually break my own shit down than loading large pieces anyway.
