As I understand it the filament normally used melts at fairly low temperatures?

I printed the piece in PLA which is what food packaging is made from and has a melting point of 150–160 °C. PLA is made from plant material / sugar cane and is generally considered the safest. ABS is the other option, it has a higher melting point but is made from petroleum.

Since the mount is all external and is basically lined with glass, it doesn't get anywhere near it's melting point. I tried 3 back to back sessions on the max temperature the IMAG runs at and it only every got slightly warm at its closest point to the chamber

Edit: the original mouth piece is likely to be PLA too, and this mount removes plastic from the air path (mostly, the screen mount is still the same and made from plastic and metal). Overall I think this is a cleaner air path than the stock mouth piece

Thanks. FWIW, unless I miss my bet that Polycarbonate in there, not the absolute best choice, but a common one for MPs (for instance VG uses it). IIRC it doesn't start to transition until 300F or so. As opposed to under 200F for PLA? Delrin or PTFE would probably be better, but not so easy to manufacture.

Thanks again. Like I sad looks easier to use/neater than my (500F) Silicone tube.

Yeah, it would be easy to make from metal / wood / Derlin on a lathe or CNC machine but unfortunately I live in a small apartment. No room for lathes.

Took the imag with me into Lollapalooza this past weekend. This is the time of year where I wish I had the grasshopper but with that not in yet I am using the imag and also my Ascent v2 which I bought last summer for the same purpose. The imag is pretty bulky to bring in given the light pat down at security...probably as big as you'd want to go. I brought it in loaded and carried it around in my front pocket. It turned on by accident in my pocket when I squatted down to talk to someone sitting down. I noticed it after the fact because it was suddenly hot in my pocket and upon inspection the load was fairly toasted. I will say I've had none of the issues with the mouthpiece coming off, probably since this is one of the newer ("Ceramic") models with the newer screw-on design. My friend brought his new Pax2 with him so I had the chance to try it side by side. The flavor on the Pax2 is a bit better IMO. The imag starts out fine but gets toasty pretty quickly compared to the Pax2, which in all fairness is supposed to have special circuitry to cycle the heater to preserve taste. After that experience the first day I benched the imag for the rest of the weekend and took the Ascent with me instead. Dimensions are different but I'd say the Ascent is much more pocketable than the imag. Taste is also better on the Ascent, but that shouldn't be surprising since taste is one of the Ascent's strong points. Efficiency on both the imag and the Ascent is equally mediocre when compared to my Solo (which is my current efficiency champ especially when used with the shorty stem), or with the Mighty.

So while I still think the imag is a very serviceable vape for the price, after further review I wouldn't say its better or even the same than any of the much more expensive vapes I already own or use. Its hard to blame the imag given the price point but I'm not sure it has a place in my lineup where I want to use it. I'm thinking that at some point I will clean it up, put it back in the box and give it to a friend who is currently combusting for medical purposes.

So it's been a few weeks and I barely combust anymore. I have the IMAG to thank for that because if I hadn't tried the IMAG, I'd never have found and tried the AIR.

So Randy sent me a replacement base and that has been rock solid. All chargers work and not a sign of glue or stickiness.

The leaky glue one hardened with the charger in it so now a friend who is broke uses it but has to carry it around with a verizon car charger permanently attached to it :)

FYI, When I recently relayed this to Randy he mentioned they have been dealing with the quality issues and a new batch is expected.

You know I never tire of hearing 'Randy stories'..........we are truly blessed to have such a resource.

I absolutely agree with this! Randy is the best vape vendor by a long shot in my opinion. Not only does he have great support, he is one of the nicest guys I have spoken to! I am glad he is getting the recognition he deserves here. Every time I travel to the USA I ritualistically have to get in touch with him and get me some new vapes. And it's going to be the iMag+ this time :)

I think my device died or I entered some secret menu. The device no longer works but when I plug in the device into the USB charger, the button will turn white 3 times. The bottom light (usb port side) will flash red 3 times. When I try to turn on the device while its plugged in, the button will turn white 3 times. It even beeps!!!! I don't know what happened. Could be a bad circuit. I don't know but I contacted the company. Hopefully, they can let me know what's going.

Overall, i still like this product its just i have no idea why all of sudden the button turns white now. If anyone had this similar problem, please let me know.

This device is not bad but what's the point if it's going to break down several months later down the road. I know i received the beta version 2 as well. It was a sample. so i shouldn't be complaining right? Either way, i still stand my statement and that this is a good product.

Hello everyone
Many years as a combuster and one month using my first vaporiser imag plus ceramic.
I am really excited about it and I have really stopped combusting for good.

I only want to ask if there are any information about a new mouthpiece ,maybe a little longer,or something with more glass in it. I dont have any problem with the stock one ,but any extra addition will be welcome.

Don't think you will see anything other than stock on a vape like this - especially at its price point.

If you can squeeze some on, silicone tubing (use food grade) would give you a little more distance and cooling.

@Ratchett probably has (or could definitely make) some sort of silicone adapter to put on the end that could let you mate nicely with a GonG for use on a glass bubbler or J-hook. Check out his FC thread here.

Thanks for the info, but on the same price you can find the storm vaporizer which has some extra attachments like different mouthpiece, even a bubbler.
I hope the makers of that device will listen to the people's voice and create something similar.
Despite the low price the performance of this device is unexpectably good. I have also compared it with a friend's solo and I can say that I havent seen a huge difference in vapor.
Surely the solo is a much more well built device but the imag plus is a very good cheap choice

Yeah, after only a few uses my replacement imag plus(ceramic) got the glue stuff on the USB port and will not charge now unless I push the charge plug in withmuch force and at just the right angle. I'm tired of messing with them honestly. But did like the unit quite a bit

Now see that's where we differ. I hope (the generic) 'they' listen to folks and create something different than other makers. I want more choices in the market, not just more makers fighting for the same few customers.

I see Imag+ as having an edge in speed and power. Not everyone will value those as highly as others, but IMO it's need that such choices are available. If you want lower temperatures, there's plenty of other choices.

I do agree it (and Solo for that matter) are pretty good devices, and can recommend both?

That's unfortunate. There have been several such reports, usually soon after delivery (although I recall one guy left it in the car in the sun?). I hope you got it from PIU, last post I saw said he had the replacement in the mail the day it was reported. Best guy I know to have in your corner if a problem happens.

I got it directly from the imag/relaxo cig guys. I posted several pages back that I had a unit that quit working and they were quick to respond and ship out a replacement. But I haven't tried contacting them again yet. The ceramic version was my favorite portable so far out of all the ones I have tried...haze, vapman, FM mini. And actually one of my most used, even including my very respectable home units

Hey, I'm going to get the Imag Plus but I don't know if I should pay the extra money for the ceramic one or just get the 2.0? What do you guys think??

Ah crap, wish I would have read this thread before ordering from PIU at the $85 price as it seems the IMAG55 promo code is still active.

Excited as this will be my first vape. I'm normally a single-hit pipe smoker so I don't think the 3 minute timer will be an issue. A little concerned about the new 'goo' issues, I'll keep an eye on it.

Hey, whats up guys? I've been looking through this thread and I have to ask, has anyone tried the new steel Imag Plus 2.0? I repeat, not the orginal Imag nor the Ceramic Imag Plus but the newer steal Imag Plus 2.0? And if so how does it differ from the ceramic Imag Plus?

This is it on Wizard Puff
http://wizardpuff.com/products/imag-plus?variant=1032841891

And this is it on the Imag site

Oppose to the ceramic one that everyone knows about

Could be just me, but I cannot see how is this "2.0" newer than the ceramic :S Steel version got a "tasty" polyimide heating film - hence the introduction of Ceramic. Could be just a WizP BS to get rid of old stock? Edit: second link takes you to Imag original (1 temp) and third link to Imag Plus promo site..

Ok, I see what you're saying about the second link. And yeah, maybe WizP are a bunch of liars.

Yep, he adjusted my order and it arrived yesterday. Won't have an opportunity to use it until tomorrow but I charged it up and gave it a few burnoffs.

I guess my very first impression is that it's hefty. Is the chamber hard to clean? I notice there is some kind of screen at the bottom, does that get easily clogged?

(I guess you can't edit your posts so I'm making another one)

Tried it out for the first time and it works great. I did a whole batteries worth of burnoffs (about 15?) then re-charged. The smell is familiar it kind of reminds me of a space heater. After the burnoffs it was diminished though, and not noticeable when it's loaded.
