Hi friends!!!
next week i'll be travelling to amsterdam with my solo and my wispr... In fact the trip will cover Utretcht, Groningen and Amsterdam, from 5th to 12th of august.
So maybe you can help me with some tips:
- Some good bho or similar in amsterdam.
- Some good coffeshops, specially in utrecth and groningen.
- Good place to fine a new vape in anu of those cities (it's been a while since i bought my last vape)
- How about a hangout?? I'm going with my gf but we'd gladly join some fellows for a vaping session.

Looking forward to hearing from you!!!

Hi,
I thought Azarius headshop was the best as it had quality glass and vaporizers.
IMO, many/most of the headshops catered to tourists and carried cheap, low quality goods
and "loud/ in your face" T-shirts and posters.
And if you are a serious shopper, they do sometimes let you try a vape with your own product.
FYI, they also carry a serious lineup of truffles--magic mushrooms

http://azarius.net/headshop/

Hangout-- IMO, many of the coffeeshops are tiny, dark, overcrowded.
Exceptions I found:
Paradox---much bigger and relaxed. Volcano available. Space cakes rated among the best. Good homemade fruit drinks.
Yo-Yo ---- I think their remodel is done. Low key place.
Le Tertulia ---- on a canal. Upstairs area and mainfloor area. Much bigger than the typical place. De Verdampfer available. Outside tables overlooking the canal--can't imbibe out there though.

Enjoy and report back.

Hi re amsterdam ... dont think youll find any bho in coffeshops any more. Last time i got some was in bushdoctors. Best off looking for good ice hash .. id try dampkring/tweede karma. My favourite coffeshops for good weed .. utopia (and friendly) grey area (get their crystals also) sometimes green place has nice bud. Everyone rates voyagers but ive never found anything good there ... but its worth a look. There is a coffeshop menu website ... google it ... its very basic but has some upto date menus. There is a coffeeshop forum also. Peas

I live in the netherlands, maybe we could meet up(although I don't live in one of the cities you will be visiting, but I'm going to a festival in leeuwarden on friday and saturday, will probably be travelling back on sunday and I will pass trough utrecht, utrecht is also not too far from where I live)

BHO would be hard to find I think. in amsterdam there are probably some shops that have it, but personally I've never seen it(but I've only been to amsterdam once, and been in a handfull of shops). outside of amsterdam I wouldn't count on finding BHO.

in utrecht I can recommend 'het grasje'. if I remember it right, they also had a vaporizer(de verdamper) that you can freely use there. I can't recommend any shops in groningen since I've only been to a coffeeshop in groningen once(it was queen's day, we just went to the first we found, bought some weed and went to a park, didn't stay inside), but I do have some friends that are studying there, I can ask them which they recommend.

I've alsoo been to some nice shops in amsterdam, but don't really remember the names well and which was which unfortunatly. I do remember there was one a little outside of the citycenter that was nice 'gezellige' vibe, and better prices as in the city center. I think it was katsu.

I also know a good shop in nijmegen(only been there once shortly, but got a good vibe from it, and heard recommendations from others) and in leeuwarden(grew up around there, especially 'de os' in leeuwarden is great, they have a varying menu, bongs and a vaporizer to use, boardgames, multiple chess-sets, multiple newspapersubscriptions, including donald duck, and lots of teas)

My advice (and i've been to a LOT of coffee shops in amsterdam)

- Barney's had the best weed out of any of the shops I went to (volcano vapes there)
- Stay away from Bulldogs imo, tourist trap.
- hash quality is mixed, if i was you i'd always ask to see before you buy, because sometimes they try to sell you some SHIT.

Imo barneys is just as big a tourist trap as bulldogs. Ive never had anything notable from barneys. I got some really awful pineapple chunk from there and their blue cheese was below par when i last went. However they may have something nice ... It's all hit and miss anyway!

My best advice is to look and smell at everything (obviously) if its pre bagged and u cant sniff then walk away. Another good tactic when looking at weed is to ask for that specific nice nug. Then they dont break off some shitty lower nugs for you. Also u get treated much better when youre solo.. easier to chat to budtender. Have fun

barneys is expensive due to its high regard but let me assure you I went to about 15 different coffeeshops in amsterdam and as far as I was concerned barneys had the best quality flowers. I'm not saying the best in amsterdam, but the best out of the 15 I put together from a lot of research. However this was 2 years ago so perhaps things could have changed?

In complete honesty the best weed I had there was not from the coffeeshop though but from a well known owner of a seed company who's name I will not say who let me sample some of his silver haze.

No offence but 1 out of 15 shops isnt exactly conclusive. Ive been to Amsterdam numerous times and i found grey area and utopia to be most consistent through the years. Barneys is ok .. and certainly not the be all and end all. To be honest the quality of the weed overall in A'dam isnt amazing ... i get just as good on the uk blackmarket... and ive never seen any decent dutch cheese. In my experience the most consistent strains to get are the nl/haze based strains ... super silver / amnesia etc. The dutch have got them down pat however most the time their og or us style genetics are sub standard. Of course ymmv

I just said that in my experience out of the 15 coffeeshops I went to I found barneys to be the best and I wasn't saying it was the best in amsterdam just in my experience. Specifically said that I wasn't saying it was the best in amsterdam lol.

I found grey area to be insanely crowded/cramped, the guys there seemed really chill, seemed like it was just a hole in the wall that looked like a dealers house. They tried to sell me some sub-standard hash though (was black and appeared to be 3rd run trim bubble or something at some ridiculous price). Utopia was okay but nothing special in my mind?

Yeah in my experience I doubted coffeeshops 'us genetics' a lot of the time, haze is really big there, essentially every shop will sell some form of haze.

Also I wouldn't go during the cannabis cup, complete overrated tourist trap and police have been shutting it down lately. You'd be infinitely better off going to one of the many cannabis cups in the US.

I guess it comes down to doing some research and just having a look around, Always kindly asking to see things before you buy them, I made a rule to personally stay away from stores that had neon signs as I considered these to be tourist traps, I also recommend going to a waffle place when you're there, the dutch are big on their waffles (waffle stores everywhere) and nothing beats some good weed and an amazing Amsterdam waffle!

Also take some time to admire the architecture, Amsterdam has some of the most beautiful architecture, their airport is a work of art (also funny story, they let me smoke weed in the smoking area in the pub of their airport which in my mind seemed taboo, smoking in an airport haha!)

Amsterdam is also home to a number of wonderful museums.

I'm also going to recommend the 420 cafe, I'm sure this place is touristy but it (unlike most of the places i went to) had very decent space and let you use their bongs, plus very nice staff, I found a lot of places (especially the greenhouse) don't seem to like customers just buying weed, they want them to order food and stuff too, usually we'd get pressured by annoyed staff that didn't like us just buying their weed and smoking there without ordering some food (which made the experience really unchill for us at times, not all places are like this though)

Also from what I can recall Amnesia had some good stuff (not sure if they are still operating)
Damprking was also alright but very crowded, usually impossible to get a seat (not sure if they are still operating either)

dabbing DOES exist in amsterdam, but it's hard to come by, amsterdam are just catching up to the US in this regard, i've seen people dabbing but it's always be staff hidden behind closed doors and not offered to the public probably because of all the safety concerns, but idk, depends where you go, i think Amsterdam are usually quite simple joint people..

That's another point, don't ordered pre-rolled joints, just don't, ever.
Gotta be able to see what your buying, they'll usually try and sell you some shit in those pre-rolled trust me.

You will not find any bho or oil etc in The Netherlands because they're on list one, together with heroin and the likes..
The government has been cracking down hard on anything cannabis related the last couple of years in the country, especially the south, and there has even been a court case over ice/bubble hash, wether it would be classed as a list 1 or 2 type drug.
The court ruled that when there is plant matter present in the extract, it's a list 2 (soft)drug, and when it's absent it's a list 1 (hard)drug. Therefore ice/bubble will remain classed as a softdrug, but bho etc not. So basically it poses a too big risk for any coffeshop owner to put something like that on the menu.

Like MGG said, dabbing does exist (of course) but it's not a real big thing here, and he's right that it's mostly a smoking (tobacco)joints culture. However, i do notice a growing number of people discussing dabs, and especially vaping \0/

Grey area is known for its weed and crystals i wouldn't recommend getting any hash there. Also the reason its busy is because the quality is good ... same with dampkring/tweede it's always busy ... that's a good sign ... i dont need to sit down there i just want to get the best in town. 420 cafe normally has some decent nevilles haze and blueberry.

If u guys want to dab just buy some hair straighteners and make rosin in your hotel.

i get vaked and hit vongs is it so wrong?
Was going to start my own thread going to be passing threw the dam next april. Before you think my question may be silly I am highly vaked lol.
Should I risk it and bring my vapes with me. I take them on domestic but bit worried about getting it taking. Question are do most coffee shops have selection of vapes or just volcanos. Reason is I love vongs and want to vong some good stuff. Or should I just buy a vapman over there and just hook it up to bong?Already have one but don't want it confiscated.

TIL we are big on our waffles... I live in the netherlands and have never seen a waffle store:shrug:must be an amsterdam thing. I only have waffles if I make them myself.
I think the neon sign thing is a bit too general, I know a few shops in less touristy areas of the netherlands which have neon signs too(although it's often just a simple 'open' sign), although it does fit into the touristy image too. but if you rule out anything woth a neon sign you might miss some gems, I would base your judgement on more signs, or a general touristy vibe.

personally, I wouldn't risk taking them with you. you could always buy a cheap one there. my experience is that shops that have vaporizers available, often only have either the volcano or de verdamper. de verdamper includes a kind of bong though(I assume you mean vaporbonging with vong).

Having just come back from a surprise trip to dam... Defo just get a vapman when your there. Some coffeeshops have vapes but then you cant vape on the go ... and what about in your apartment / hotel?

The money saved from the vapman efficiency will pay for itself... i was smoking around 4+ grams a day ... try getting thru that in a vapman! It would be about 80 bowls haha!!

Get a vapman, hire some bikes and cycle to vondel park .. and get baked :) also .. go on airbnb and book yourself into a houseboat. :)

If you go over at the end of April watch out for Queens Day (Koninginnedag).
The place goes mental. You may struggle to get anywhere good to stay if you don't book early enough.

just a heads up about queen's day: it doesn't exist anymore. we now have a king, and while our previous monarch(queen beatrix) kept the date for queen's day on her mother's birtday, with the new king the date was changed to his birtday. king's day is now celebrated on the 27th of april(queen's day was celebrated on the 30th of april).

if you make the mistake of thinking it's still celebrated on the 30th you will look like this:

... and we will all laugh at you.

I love Amsterdam---see my canal picture.

Was there in May, 2014--like May 10 - May 20. There was a "techno-fest" on the island close to Central Station. Greatest laser light I've ever seen. Anybody know the name of the show?

I hope to go back May of 2016 and was hoping it might be there again.
Anyone know what that was/ link to their schedule?
Thanks
