Cool Music to Vape to - Part 2

@mitchgo61 I really enjoyed that! ^^^ I've never heard of this group. One of the things that I love about this thread is getting turned on to new music and musicians.

Family - A Song For Me

Lee Michaels - Heighty High

Love Family! My first concert was 10cc, December 75....the opener was Streetwalkers, the band Roger and Charlie formed post-Family. My poor 14-year-old brain did not know what to make of Roger Chapman!

echolyn are amazing....very influential. Their 1995 album AS THE WORLD launched a thousand bands. This song, from their 2011 double disc untitled album, has what must be the most haunting and gorgeous vocal melody you have heard in years...

This post reminds me to post that vtac has fixed our load time problems with vids. If you would prefer to just load the vid from now on, it's okay. Or... since you cannot see what song it is before you push play, you can continue to just put the link. Your choice. :D

So you're saying I can choose the extra-step method....or the lazy way? Which will I choose...:hmm::lol::lol:

RIP Chris Squire. This Yes fan for 40-plus years is devastated. FUCK.

It's been, what? Six weeks? Eight? I've been wearing a Yes shirt EVERY DAY since then. (Yes, the same one. Yes, I've washed it. Is it tie-dyed with the butterfly logo? HELL Yes.)

I hadn't actually thought about it, but, with all respect to so many fallen musical heroes and their families these last few years, Chris is the first member to pass in a long time from a band, I really really love. (May they all live forever.) Like you, I've been a fan for well over 40 years, and I can't wrap my head around him being gone.

If I'm vaping to Yes, the album I reach for is Going For The One, but both for the video, and for Chris Squire, allow me to present to you an 11-minute run through "Yours Is No Disgrace," from Germany's Beat Club, 1971. I'm tellin' ya, yer gonna feel like yer vaping simply from the crazy-ass vintage video effects they laid on this thing. Actually, you might feel like you're on acid.

Anyway, Steve Howe's first TV appearance with the band as far as I can tell, and Chris is of course on fire.

What do you mean if you're vaping to Yes? GFTO is a great album...that was my first Yes tour, in 77, with, of all people, Donovan opening. Awaken is easily a top ten Yes song for me, along with No Disgrace. (I personally reach for Relayer or Tales above all others, but GFTO is the last really classic Yes record.)

Pardon my mood change.

Hey man, I'm schizophrenic and bipolar. Ain't no telling who's gonna show up.

My LAST Yes tour was 2013, the one where they played Close to the Edge,The Yes Album and GTFO in their entirety (in that order). Speaking of Chris Squire, as we were, he was pretty much the front man. Did all the talking, clearly acted as bandleader...to the extent that the band needed leading at that point of course. But he was definitely in charge.

I LOVE Patti Smith. Great choice.

More often than Yes, it's Bowie for me, especially Low. These days, I need all the help calming down I can get, and that one really helps. But I'm also a huge fan of Station to Station, so I'll see you Patti Smith on Jay Leno, and raise you David Bowie performing "Stay" on...Dinah Shore!!! :o And yes, that's Henry Winkler and Nancy Walker standing next to Dinah.

David Bowie, "Stay," on Dinah Shore

One more. Cat Stevens is also a go-to when I'm trying to slow down. Another from 1971, from the BBC's In Concert series.

Yep, saw that Yes tour, and the one last year when they did Fragile. Chris and Steve were definitely playing extremely well on those recent tours. We actually snagged tix for one of Cat Stevens' five U.S. shows last year (pure luck). Amazing night....an artist I never thought I'd see. I don't often weep like a baby at concerts but.... (That Patti tune was written for Jerry Garcia, who died 20 years ago today.)

Meanwhile, the vaping soundtrack at our house today, for the millionth time....

A couple of folks have mentioned Pink Floyd "Echoes," which I will too. I'll add that I enjoy the whole album that it's from, Meddle, is more enjoyable to me than Dark Side, and think it's a much smoother ride on the vape in particular. At the very least, it might be worth you giving it a spin on a future excursion.

Nice pictures to go with this particular upload of "Echoes" -- HD footage of the earth from low-orbiting satellites and the space station. Perfect.
