I also agree advertising a price increase will encourage others to take the Hopper plunge and it will give Hopper Labs more liquid cash flow. If folks have asked for refunds they need to recoup that money. With a business you've got to have money to make money.

I decided to take a t-break until I receive my hopper. I want to become a "one hit-I feel good" type of guy. I need a dab, full mighty bowl, and a minivap bowl to get where I want to be. I welcome a wait to get my tolerance down, but want to receive one that isn't rushed and works flawless.

I'm glad people are explaining how easily a battery can go from zero to critical in a short time. It's been said already but if you feel heat anywhere it's not supposed to be stop using your unit and if you can i'd say remove the battery.

I wonder what kind of stress tests have been done on the GH and it's battery? It's concerning considering all the other mistakes that have been identified.

I guess with a 3 hour battery life you are going to have a few explosions :rofl:

You may have your tolerance way down by the time you get your unit. Best of luck and happy vaping.

Reading the Crafty thread, I don't feel so paranoid about the GH. People having to send those Crafty's back left and right, the Mighty's seem to be holding up pretty good. @BaMbAaAChA in my experience, 3 days is perfect.
In terms of manufacturing bumps, I agree. I'm just really hoping GHL can survive the costs associated with these early bumps in the road. As a start up, we don't know if they have the financial strength to withstand x number of warranty claims in the short term. Because I REALLY want GHL to succeed, I'll remain optimistic and keep looking at my half full glass.

I agree, if mine failed, I would be happy with them just fixing mine instead of sending me a new one and having to scrap or refurbish the old one, but oh well.

I think that whole back-end assembly is the weak point if the unit if there is one because it has all the moving parts and it's mechanical in action. So far so good and I'm not sure how that mechanism works but maybe they can take indefinite clicks without wearing out......

If you go onto the Instagram it shows multiple plastic parts inside the clicker, personally it doesn't bother me, but I can see wear happening no? Lets just hope the company does well and stands behind the warranty.

Yeah, I worked on vacuum cleaners as a young man, and the click switches were pretty common to go out after a few years and that was something that only saw 100-150 clicks a year.

Ha! I tried that once! As I've said before, when I got back from my vacation, Trevor discovered my backend problem. Since I was there because they wanted to see how the unit held up under heavy use and the unit hadn't failed under HEAVY use I asked if I could keep going to see if I could actually break and it was GHL that insisted on a replacement.

We compromised by only replacing the backend.

I think the points folks are making about crafty actually apply to most vapes. Not ony are these new products at launch, let's not forget that protable vapes are a new product category altogether.

Let's have a little perspective here, I've yet to see any product launch with a perfect track record and no
bugs but if anyone of you have started a company or launched a product with no glitches please share with us your Magic! Must be using the same alchemy the GH uses to get me RUHL high off of tiny amounts dope ;-)
 
Sure, all in perspective. Everytime I hear the Apple comparison about launches I just get pissed. The reason Apple for example can get away with a shoddy or untimely relrase is because the're Apple! They know people will forget in a week tops. If they don't there's more Sheeple that will buy.

The reason I thought this release had been delayed so much was because the powers that be wanted to release a decent product that lives up to their advertised standards. However, the high failure rate and the variety of failures makes me think they're just pushing them out the door to keep backers from freaking out due to the excessive wait.

The last update before this one specified they had pinpointed the problem and had a solution. Then we got this update after all the failure reports from users and they make no concrete statement of the problems?

I'm seriously worried for this company. They need to get these problems and stop them from going out the door. I know it's easy to say when you've waited less than backers, but I made a purchase from a company offering a pre-order not a backing which is a different concept. Also, I keep wondering how they will handle the warranty considering that supposedly we'll have to pay shipping according to the photos on the instructions/warranty that comes with each unit.

To change the subject a bit, I thought I'd offer some usage notes after a weekend of playing with my new GH. A few things - I dropped it twice over the weekend - once from about 1 foot onto a rock, and once from about 5 foot onto carpeting. Nothing broke, nothing acting different, it took the beatings and has kept on heating....

It got a very good workout over the weekend. It was used as both a personal (1 person device) as well as between 2 of us - passing back and forth. I tried it with my SO - her initial reaction when she first saw it was "This is what you waited 2 years for?" lol. However, after a day of us using it, I asked her preference (GH, one-hitter or O-pen) - she MUCH preferred the GH. I'm finding my style of using it (and I think one of the interesting things about it is you can match your way of using it to how you are most comfortable) - we used it all weekend on setting 5, taking a few (2 or 3, 4 max) big, cloudy hits. and then don't need any for a while. With two of us on setting 5 we ended up having to use it with the Silicon tip - it was warm when passing back and forth between us. We did kill the battery once - passing back and forth between us for over an hour and a half at setting 5. I still feel like I am getting more baked with a lot less flower than I have with anything else - in fact, a few times I had to take extended breaks because I was maxed out.

I'm still experimenting with how much flower I load into it - I think for the most part I'm loading about 1/2 an oven's worth - probably a bit more when the 2 of us were using it. I also find I'm hitting it like a one hitter (my preferred method) - on setting 5, a few big hits - then put it down for a while. You definitely want to take a hit from it after turning it off - it does leak a bit of smell otherwise. Initial draws are actually quite smooth - the last pull or two from the cooked herb is when it get's a little harsher - most of the flavor is pretty much cooked at that point. The ABV is a nice deep coffee brown. As others have said, it's easy to tap out (or use the pen clip) to get the ABV out, and the oven is very clean - since Friday, I still haven't cleaned it or needed to.

The Arizer Air came out without any fan fair and with very few faulty units here on FC.

Shipping potentially hazardous devices? Yeah, no biggie as long as you put it all in perspective.

Let's not forget that field returns are extremely expensive compared to the potential per unit profit. Continuing to ship products that have a significant (usually a few percent or more) return rate will condemn the company to failure.

Warranty repairs past 10% of COGS (Cost Of Goods Sold, your total budget) is generally considered the sign on imminent death in light manufacturing. "Not recoverable". That's measured in dollars, not units. They have no other products to help absorb that, they can't afford mistakes.

Good companies go broke shipping such products without knowing, to know and continue to add more defective units to the burden (rather than getting a handle on the issue and reworking stock) is not likely to be useful in digging out of the hole......

I wish them well, but it's sounding like they're up against it and short of tools? Otherwise good products die this way all the time.

Likewise many of the Thermovape products. They were well tested before release. That (solid profit making products on line) wasn't enough to save TV when the returns for the new stuff took over. The company couldn't be 'kept alive' because no 'smart money' would touch it up against such liability. Guys with experience in such things see such a red flag clearly and avoid that situation.

But do we know what the failure rate is? Not that I know, and if someone does, please chime in. I'm assuming we don't know the percentage of failures. Having said that, I'm still not happy @HillaryClinton got 2 defective units. And I'm still hoping and waiting to hear that GHL has responded and replaced these 2 gh's.

Someone here should ask Trevor for a "back door" contact address so FCers can get issues addressed and our emails don't get lost in an overflowing inbox.

I can't tell if you're serious, but just in case you are...

GHL is still an inactive member of FC. They stopped posting here a long time ago, presumably because of the negativity. Given their treatment here, I can't see any way they would look favourably on someone because of FC membership.
