25ish years ago on a friday night much like this we would be sitting outside the local Jiffy Mart waiting for some old fucker like me to buy us a few Stroh's 30 packs, why Stroh's 30 packs you ask?

Because with 30 packs, you get more beer!

Singer of songs and a vapor connoisseur

I loved the Beattles cartoon on Saturday mornings. There would be some funny story line then they would break out into a song while all the girls chased after them.

Rocky and Bullwinkle was good too. Loved Dr Peabody and Sherman - we would learn a bit of history or science while still being entertained.

Southern Comfort was the worst. At first it has such a nice flavor - it also made me sick and with a terrible headache. I've gotten sick on Hot Buttered Rum too.

Pot always worked out better. First joint was at 14, kinda young. I didn't use it very often until I was in my 20s.

+1 ^^ Rocky and Bullwinkle! Creative, funny stuff. Good puns. Duddly Doright, Mr. Sherman & the Way Back Machine, Captain Wrongway Peachfuzz; the Metal Munching Mice. Making light of the cold war with Boris & Natisha. I bet this show would still make me laugh, especially if I was a little buzzed.

Yea, I was at Jorma & Jack's debut, introduced by Bill Graham at Winterland (Bill managed a lot of the great bands in that scene but always got fired, he was kinda a prick). Fully electric at the start, acoustic came later. Saw them a couple times in the Park when free concerts were still happening.

[David where are you damnit, weren't you hangin' with Jack not that long ago in Tiburon?]

One night Quicksilver was so loud that my friend's younger brother started crying, his ears hurt so bad. I think maybe the loudest I heard was The Who, then maybe Lee Michaels. They had Marshall's stacked 10 ft behind them. Entwistle played the loudest bass I've ever heard. They debuted Tommy at the Fillmore, played it non-stop start-to-finish. Then Townsend says, "now how's about some rock'n'roll?" and they break into Summertime Blues. Pure heaven.

An old Berkeley bud of mine says, "you had to be there." So true. It was once in time & space, no more.
Loudest band, by far, was Blue Cheer.

I'll be 68 in a few days. Grew up in Palo Alto. First smoked pot as a senior in high school in '65. First took LSD in July '66, and subsequently about 25-30 times over the next two years. I was at the Fillmore and/or the Avalon most weekends. I took my last psychedelic in April '69 - mescaline - at the nude beach on the coast. Continued to smoke pot daily until about '72 when I learned TM. Then I went to nursing school and worked in healthcare for 40 years, and it was 20-25 years since my last cannabis until I got prostate cancer last year, had surgery that didn't get it all, then had to undergo Radiation and Lupron injections (a testosterone suppressant that causes male menopause.) I began reading a lot about medical marijuana and got my recommendation a year ago March. My 30 yr old son is my ganja guru

Team NO SLEEP!
Will do! It is definitely a prized piece at our home. We recently moved into a home with a little more space, and now resides in the Kitchen after being in storage for the last 20 years.

Any of y'all remember these?

This was one of the first Remote Controls for model planes and helicopters. Nothing fancy, but was groundbreaking with regards to being able to pilot an aircraft remotely. It had only 4 channels, Ailerons (roll), Elevator (pitch), Rudder (yaw) and Throttle.

Flash forward from mid 1960s to today, and this Jeti is the best of the best and offering 24 channels of control.

Let's not forget ' Maxwell Smart and 99 ' and ' the cone of
Silence ' . For me , I couldn't get enuf of ' Get Smart ' .
Don Adams had a way of dead panning into the camera
and just giving you a look , and that would make me laugh .
The way Steve Carrell does in ' the Office ' , is the closest
I can find .

We received our American feeds thru the Buffalo , NY stations .
They were basically affiliates of the Big 3 networks , piggy backing
the National content * Capt. Kangaroo * while offering local talents .
( usually the on-air staff doubling as children's show hosts . ) Like
Tom Jolls the weatherman on * Rocketship 7 * .

There was also PBS , constantly asking for donation pledges . LoL
But they provided me with my favorite kid show ....
edit ; oops it was * Electric Company * Not * ZOOM *
You will find a young/cool Morgan Freeman , I believe it was his
1st gig . Remember this ?
2 people facing each other in black silhouette , teaching us words .
B - ed
Bed
C - at
Cat
D - og
Dog

Really enjoying the stroll down memory lane with you FC members .

here's another pic
Frampton comes Alive was top selling record for that summer when released .
Dark Side of the Moon was on top 100 albums for the longest of time .
Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti broke my record needle from playing it too much .

The two albums that I had to buy multiple times because I wore them out were Dark Side of the Moon and Deep Purple's Made In Japan...Dark Side is still my favorite album of all time.

First time I saw the 'Floyd was in the summer of '73 at the old Roosevelt Stadium in north 'Jersey. Fucking fantastic to see their first Dark Side of the Moon Tour. Saw them numerous times after that. Having access to MSG over in NYC gave me many years of pleasure seeing all of the big groups of the early-mid 70's. Great times with great music.

Loved GET SMART also...remember the bad guy "The Claw" Not the Craw...THE CRAW!!!:rofl:

I also saw that Pink Floyd show at Roosevelt Stadium. Do you remember their attempt at special effects?

They had a paper mâché rocket on a wire- when it was 'launched' it was supposed to move horizontally from the stands toward the stage. But when they tried to get it going it moved in fits & starts and didn't get very far at all. It reminded me of some low budget 1950's sci-fi movie special effects. A long way from the current Rodger Waters extravaganza.

+1 for Get Smart- the 2nd funniest show I've ever seen!

Remember when the Flinstones was a weekly television show on a week night. I can't remember if it was NBC, ABC or CBS?

The Flintstones was a clever animated rip-off of "The Hoonymooners". Pebbles and Bam-Bam didn't show up til years later. I vaguely remember the public submitted names for the kids in a contest.

I remember it started out on Sunday Night - Sunday was "Color Day" it seemed. Sing Along With Mitch [Miller], Bonanza, The Wonderful World of Color, and The Flintstones were on NBC Sunday Night, I believe. We didn't get a color TV for six years or so. Dad thought it was a fad. My best friend's Dad was an early adapter.
I'd sneak over for the Sunday Night Color Extravaganza.

Gas Wars & Gas Station Give-aways: drinking glasses, steak knives. During fill-up, vacuum your car. wash all windows. Check tire pressure and oil.

Rocky & Bulwinkle: Hans Conrad did the voice-over for Fractured Fairy Tales

Boonsfarm Wine Coolers
Red Mountain Wine (in Calif)
Ripple (of course) Wine
The Jackie Gleason Show (and Away We Go...)

Bob Denver (Gilligan) also was Maynard in "The Many Lives of Dobbie Gillis".
Ballad of Paladin Have Gun Will Travel
Old TV Shows I saw in multiple re-runs
December Bride with Spring Byington
The Honeymooners
Burns & Allen
Andy's Gang (Pluck Your Magic Twanger, Froggy)
Amos & Andy
Jack Benny Show
The Phil Silvers' Show (Sgt. Bilko)

I could be wrong, but wasn't the Flintstones on ABC on Friday nights? Have not looked it up so my decades old memory could be mistaken...

NESTA...Don't remember the rocket for that show...saw it in future shows, so it probably was there...I do remember for the last song on Dark Side that they had these fireworks shoot up that were long lines of colors that slowly drifted down towards us as they were finishing up the set...my mind was blown, especially with what was enhancing my brain that evening...:whoa:

...wow...the old memory is still intact...but, I did love watching TV as a kid, and then got into reading and TV dropped way down there...

Fred selling the cancer nails...I remember...plus, all the Doctor's they would have in commercials lighting each others' cig's in the hospital and then talking about how smooth and mild they are...hilarious!!

How things have changed...
