Kidney Disease and Cannabis

I hope they can figure something out to help with your kidney issues. Being sick isn't fun especially when you can't count on your friends. Sending you positive vibes to you in Florida. You live in a beautiful part of the U.S.

I hope your black market friend comes through with some flowers at least that would make things more tolerable.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping for, but no dice, not even today. I can't keep food down and hubby is threatening to take me to the hospital. I'm not going.

I just saw your thread. I quit smoking years ago when a vaporizer was a machine that helped with colds. I was worried that it was harming my kidneys. I just started smoking again during the past year. I'm 15 years post transplant and I've been checking my kidney labs regularly to make sure that smoking isn't causing any damage. I don't know what the research would say but so far my transplant is still stable and there's no negatives to my smoking. My worst labs happened when they were trying me on an experimental immunosuppressant drug.

One thing to consider is that, if you ever end up on dialysis you might want to stop mainly because smoking will make it harder to get a transplant and with a transplant normal life returns. My kidney failure came from a step throat I had as a kid but didn't really show up until I was much older and my kidney started to slowly decrease functioning. Not a problem for many years until there was little functioning left- then it went quickly.
You probably can't take any anti-inflammatory pills; I take turmeric pills instead.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been though this as well.

As soon as I read it was a drug that messed up your labs, I knew. The RX drugs really mess with my kidneys. You're right, I am not allowed to take any anti-inflammatory drugs of any kind.

I haven't had labs bad enough to start dialysis yet, but I am on a very restricted diet, and am not allowed to put anything in my body unless it's approved by my doctor.

I haven't smoked anything in years, thankfully. :)

Got my test results from Quest today. I really like having my results before I see my doctor.

The results were not good, though. :disgust:

My kidney numbers are worse than they have ever been, and I'm anemic. That would explain why I can be cold when it's 95 degrees outside....

I'm reading every word you post in this thread, @Vicki, but can't "Like" what's going on. It ain't worth much, but please know my thoughts are with you.

Thanks.

I'm a little scared, but more frustrated. I did cheat, and had some dill pickles, and my back was so bad I only got some relief with 6 tablets of Aleve, spread out over 3 days. I don't know if that caused the spike down, or just didn't help things. I talk to the doctor on September 8th, and will discuss it with her then.
