Pay for a script, worth it or not?

I live in Toronto. Not many doctors will provide a script. I do not have serious medical conditions like many of you. I have bad muscle pain in my chest from a collapsed lung years ago. This pain does go away with vaping. I also have real bad anxiety and at times cannot deal with reality. Getting high and zoning out helps me. Back when I lived in the Frat house in college they use to bring me my bong before discussing bills or important issues so I was more calm and relaxed.

I have the option to get a script. It'll cost me. My concern is this, do I really want to be in the system for this if I do not need to be? I have no issue getting weed. But my street guy good buddy only gets a few types of highs. He doesn't know what they are and the strain always changes. I'm trying to find that one good strain that will reduce my pain both physically and mentally. I feel a script will help that in that I know the strain I buy and can keep getting it.

Very good question.

I am already in the system as a legal professional. I'm not sure if I wanted to add medical marijuana to that as well.

I have my script and I have been very thankful for it over the last few years being new to this area.

But with the laws changing here next year for the worst in so many negative ways, I am sure I will go back to being a criminal.

I would like to get one for convenience and knowing the strains I smoke and able to get those strains on a regular. But on the contrary, I do not want to be added to some database. Especially with all my student debt lol. Guy can afford weed but not his student debt lol

I look at it from more of a "protection for myself" thing. Am in the states, Calif, and our script is called a rec (recommendation). At least I can show i'm following Calif law, should something happen that may be police or court related. Plus, can't visit a dispensary without one.

With your script, you would probably have access to more strain types and have a better chance to find a strain or strain-family that best suites your needs.

Edit: and for this...

@ginolicious I'm Canadian and in the system. It's better to have the card and not need it then to not have the card and need it. The various gov agencies are to dysfunctional to speak with each other anyways so that's not an issue.

Now having said that I've never used the card in two years. So the choice is yours. Hopefully I'll never need to show it to anyone. But if I do I'll be glad I have it.

@killick

Do you buy from dispensaries?

The fee this doctor wants is $600 for a script. I know my family doctor is against it. And I'm not classified as someone who NEEDS it.

I know I'm not in the same group as many of you. I've been reading all your posts in regards to your ailments, but I'll tell you this for sure, took a 2 year break, never been so wound up, high strung, freak out. Not that all as subdued since I vape again. Sure a few outbreaks here and there, but then the vape cures all. Not to mention the traumatizing ER extravaganza that really spiked my anxiety and probably gave me a form of PTSD.

@ginolicious I'm a mil vet and have a prescription for MMJ through vets affairs. It's replaced a number of other meds for me, and I'm feeling much better now.

So having said that I mainly go through one of the Health Canada providers (Bedrocan and MedReleaf) for the bulk of my product. But they are limited in what they can sell, so I purchase concentrates like shatter and BHO from dispensaries, at least until I get more comfie making my own.

Try Green Leaf Medical Clinic in Abbotsford. They are around $350 iirc, and do the screen online using VSEE, a med video conferencing program. If you had any military experience I could hook you up through MFTgroup.ca, Marijuana For Trauma, a vets group based in NB that helps vets across Canada get their prescriptions at no cost.

That's insane. Surely another doctor would charge a more reasonable fee.

Chronic anxiety is a qualifying condition, at least here. Insomnia and all kinds of things. You should be able to find out on the Internet what conditions qualify you.

I just saw @killick's post above. Looks like there are more reasonable options available.

I am always saddened to see others in pain whether it may be physical or mental...I have Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been afflicted with this dreaded condition for 31 years. Currently for pain I am on 75mcg. Fentanyl Transdermal Patches applying a new patch every 72 hours. Now that the state I live in has finally gotten their collective asses in gear and the licensed growers can start growing, I will apply for my Medical Marijuana Card. This is a pilot program only good for four years and then this law will be under review again by our legislators. It went into effect January 1st, 2014 and only now can the growers start their crops so the products won't be available for at least 3 months.....

Of course only you can decide what is right for you as you do not want to put your job in jeopardy or your life style. As for the Government and the Local and State LEO knowing about me and who I am I'm sure they already do know. Seeing that Mobile Phones are monitored by Gov't Agencies along with everything else we see and do...I'm not to concerned about applying for and receiving the MMC.....

Only you know what is the right or best course of action to take for yourself.....so good luck and take care!!!

To me I see this picture as a fine line/balancing act between making a decision to bring me assistance with my chronic pain( for instance.....my right wrist and thumb have been permanently dislocated for approx. 20 years)and the fact that with a large portion of the adult world showing concern over these new policies.....judgements become deliberated. Again no right or wrong should be labeled here cause each individual will battle the raging war between what is morally right or wrong...for them. Again though, please understand, I do my best not to judge others but that is not what we are taught. I understand the cost(scripts, ramifications from the Feds...just to name two) is high.....but no one else walks in your path and deals with what you embrace everyday. I am, at the moment, inviting you to each look and reflect on your quality of life each day. This may give you some assistance in your own decision processing and if not......that's okay too!!!

Take care.....Frodo
