Discontinued The Grasshopper

I'm not defending them,I think they've done a shitty job with their campaign at almost every step of the way. HOPEFULLY not the last most important step of releasing the product though!

I'm just saying that it appears that it does exactly what I want it to do, and that's all I care about.
Whether or not some people feel misled....sorry I'm sure that sucks. But I do think that people's hopes and expectations are not always 100% the result of being given false information.

I have an idea!!!!! A 2-Piece silicone cover? One for the main body that meets the mouth piece cover! It would act as a protective cover simultaneously? Surely this is the only way...

I think all this talk about too much heat is down to poor technique. Don't touch the tip with your lips, put the grasshopper in the corner of your lips and point it towards your cheeks and lift your tongue to prevent any irritation to your throat. This all helps me use my titan 2 at 428f for 10 minutes sessions. If you have a high tolerance and get through 2 grams a day then this vaporizer probably isn't for you.

My SS/Early Bird Grasshopper arrived today. It does get warm to the touch on the mouthpiece.... I could see for some it might be uncomfortable. Using the silicon cover takes that problem away.

I'm a long time, higher-medication patient, who has been using a one-hitter for years. I've used a Vapir, PAX and a few other vapes, and an O-Pen for oils. The Grasshopper is a somewhat different smoking experience - almost like a multi-hit one hitter. The chamber is larger than I expected, and I am getting the types of hits I expect from a one-hitter. Good clouds, good taste, better effect. Just healthier than the one-hitter. I need to use it some more, but so far, it's actually more than I hoped for.

How high have you run the temp, and at any point did you feel like it might get hot enough to need to be put down?

Did your hands catch on fire from the flames pouring out of the GH?

Mostly at 3 - but 3 & 5. Single hits and as many as 5 or 6 hits in a row. It got pretty warm - I'm finding that I am hitting it less than I hit the o-pen - and feel more medicated.

Did your hands catch on fire from the flames pouring out of the GH?

No, my hands didn't catch on fire - though jets in formation flew by - or were they locusts? The Grasshopper only spewed medicinal fumes, didn't see any flames I'm sad to say. Too bad, I'm always up for a light show.

@nonbeliever, in your post above you said you were using a one-hitter for years, and that the GH was a "different smoking experience". Could you explain, were you combusting all those years, and vaping now. or ...? It catches my eye when someone mentions a vape and smoking in the same sentence, so I want to make sure what you meant. Thanks.

I hope the convenience/form factor shared between the GH and the O-pen is the only comparison -- i know potency of carts varies, but spending 20min puffing before I was done just wasn't cutting it for me.

It's a small stealthy portable. If it's too hot to share with friends I'll use something more suitable for sharing.

When I first got an Inhalater 05 some said they were also too hot. And it was a bit hot at first, so I put a short piece of whip on the end and problem solved. After a bit of ude the whip was no longer required.

I'm sure it will be the same with this, with the agreed bonus of the vendor including a piece of whip to keep it cool.

There isn't much point debating the finer points of using a stealth vape as a session vape with a house full of company. Most people that have groups of people coming over to vape will probably already have a group solution.
Why use a paring knife to prep for a dinner party?
I just want a nice small stealthy portable that I can use pretty much anywhere. I'm really hoping this is it. I like sharing, but if a bunch of friends complain that it's too hot to share they can go get one of their own. Or use another vape - there's a good selection.

Agreed and I am starting to see people posts things like I use the GH for "X" situation but for "Y" I prefer the pax2 or the mighty or whatever, NOW we're getting somewhere!

EXACTLY my experience! I actually think I said on some thread that the product that should be "worried" is o-pen in the sense that I used to use cartridge pens for the same function I now use my GH because it's better.

Really that's weird cus in writing this from the burn unit right now, used my GH on temp 1, careful folks ;-)

Care to share? I've only seen people either hitting it once and putting it down or using it through glass. Would love to see some people ripping it over and over without issue.
There lies the problem.. You admit to having no personal experience with the units yet are attempting to draw all encompassing conclusions based on second hand information. Then you attempt to present your conclusions as factual evidence to persecute HL for misrepresenting their product (without providing any evidence that they have done so). In fact, it appears that it is the people here and at reddit who have made the claims you allude to (not HL).

Kinda ridiculous and very difficult to take your (second hand) observational contributions seriously when you don't have any first hand experience with the units.

It's one thing to question the performance of units from early production runs, but entirely another matter to pass judgement based on second hand information. (particularly when thermostat/heater faults in some units are very obviously tainting the second hand information from which you are attempting to draw your unqualified conclusions on). People get themselves sued for slander for doing what you are doing. Best you be careful that you don't get snapped for making entirely unqualified criticisms which you have made no attempt to disguise as questions.

You appear hell bent on protecting consumers from non existent false claims that you attribute to HL. How noble of you. What about HL's right to a fair hearing (or their right to expect real evidence to be presented in your kangaroo court)? It seems your noble intentions are very one sided.

Strange that this nanny forum and it's 'be nice' policemen don't edit out such misleading and questionably slanderous poison pen type misrepresented bollocks. Try stating your concerns as questions instead of misrepresenting them as factual. To not do so, is dishonest.

GH version 2.0 - they switch the mouthpiece from silicon to asbestos.

Edit- I know better than to comment on the moderation here, but I have OBSERVED that they really do try to mostly leave people's words intact and just add a comment. Personal experience excepted.....Hey I tried...

I was thinking the same thing about smoking and relating to vaporizing all at the same time. We don't smoke around here. We just vaporize.

I have an issue at times with too harsh or too hot vapor, so I'm still on the fence regarding this portable.

I believe this can be called "code switching, like when multi-cultural folks speak two languages in a single sentence. My best guess is that the poster meant all of his words in the context of VAPING.

At the root of it, it doesn't seem to me like Jared is trying to make criticisms for the sake of criticizing the guys at HL. We all know that most vapes are certainly at their best when used in certain ways, but, at least to an extent, the GH has been presented as something that's great for every situation. Part of that has been the advertising put out by HL, and another large part of that has been word of mouth. I think we all just want to believe in this device, and there is just a lot of frustration that has been built up from the delays, and the GH not quite living up to the initial indiegogo vision. I think it's reasonable to be a bit frustrated that the GH is a bit more of a powerful one-hitter type vape than the versatile beast it has often been presented as, and I think it would have been great if hopper labs had made it clear that the unit can get hot (however hot that is exactly, I don't know personally, but certainly many hopper owners have mentioned it). I think there's just a lot of residual frustration and impatience on all sides because of the delays and issues with early units. Just try to remember that pretty much everyone in this thread wants the hopper to succeed, and sometimes we can all get a bit snippy because of the mental investment we've put in the grasshopper. We're all on the same side :)

What's up with the back of the unit getting hot, as @HillaryClinton wrote? If the middle is warm, and the back end hot... I start thinking about the battery. Any thoughts?

So this is not normal also? I just thought it pulled energy there so it gets a tad hot? I must have gotten some duds here....ugh.

Everyone here, I posted pics and the like in the shipping thread about my issues with 2 units I just got, if you wanna take a peak.

A few pages back @slcbdco posted about the 2 known issues the red blue flashing non heating problem and a ring or something on the rear causing the rear to get hot and eventually the whole unit gets really hot.

If your back end is getting hotter than the middle of the body then you most definitely have a problem.

The heat should be concentrated around the air holes(where the heater is) and forward to the mouthpiece.

The heat should start in those areas and slowly keep moving further and further back(this is because of heat slowly transferring through the metal of the body.)

If the back end gets warm or hot faster than anything before it, it's malfunctioning for sure.

The middle stays cool-slighty warm, front gets damn hot, back gets hot.

Guessing its an issue....not gonna use it then...oh well.

Definitely seek replacements and hold off on use until then. It sucks, but it is what is.

Although things may not seem that bad currently (may just seem like a little heat) things can go critical real quick.

Thanks for the info, I have a tad experience with E-Ciggs and I heard of horror stories with that.
