Discontinued The Grasshopper

Care to share? I've only seen people either hitting it once and putting it down or using it through glass. Would love to see some people ripping it over and over without issue.
Have you seen Buzz Danklin's video? I'm pretty sure it's still on his site. He and his roommate hit it hard! Admittedly, they were using a preproduction gh, but still...

I agree with everything you said, but I think that if it is a one hitter type of device grasshopper should make that EXTREMELY clear on their website.

It's not a session vape, for sure not for more than one person, on a routine basis. IMO this was pretty clear all along based on our experiences with other convection vapes; heat was going to be an issue.

And there's a very large spectrum of users. For some a few quick hits is plenty. For others it's not even a good start. No chance of 'being all things to all men'.

I still think it has good potential for a smaller segment of owners/use. Like ESV, MFLB or maybe Imap+ it's fast and effective in 'top up' mode. The hours of run time originally claimed have 'adjusted' back to more modest/realistic numbers, still useful in some modes. When the dust settles that will mate with the intermittent service this one seems to fit best?

IMO it's still evolving from our end if not at GHL? Expectations meeting reality as it were.

But I like it!
It's a small stealthy portable. If it's too hot to share with friends I'll use something more suitable for sharing.

When I first got an Inhalater 05 some said they were also too hot. And it was a bit hot at first, so I put a short piece of whip on the end and problem solved. After a bit of ude the whip was no longer required.

I'm sure it will be the same with this, with the agreed bonus of the vendor including a piece of whip to keep it cool.

There isn't much point debating the finer points of using a stealth vape as a session vape with a house full of company. Most people that have groups of people coming over to vape will probably already have a group solution.
Why use a paring knife to prep for a dinner party?
I just want a nice small stealthy portable that I can use pretty much anywhere. I'm really hoping this is it. I like sharing, but if a bunch of friends complain that it's too hot to share they can go get one of their own. Or use another vape - there's a good selection.

I just want one or two good rips so I can try to do less oil pen dabs at work and get my tolerance back down to a more normal level. Stealth and quickness for me!

I have been using the Flashvape for the last month and I have a feeling the heat generated at the end of a bowl with it will be on par with the grasshopper's heat as they draw about the same amount of amps.

I have been worried the GH would not get hot enough for me as I vape at higher temps than most here.

For example, I just set my GH to temp 5, took 3 big rips, waits a little because ya know, sure the mouthpiece was hot (not unbearable, no I didn't burn myself, but I noticed and this level of comfort is going to be individual for ME it was FINE) but more importantly the 3 BIG RIPS I just took! I was ready to chill for a minute.

Ironically getting the THC out in a couple big rips is probably heating it up LESS than taking the same amount more slowly. It will use less battery, meaning the GH made less heat over all. Or looked at the other way, the 'extra power' consumed in sipping is now used to heat the device (since it's not making vapor).

Not for everyone, perhaps not even right 'all the time' for many/any? It would not be my first recommendation of a good first or only vape. It's more of a specialist tool.

Time will tell.

I have been using the Flashvape for the last month and I have a feeling the heat generated at the end of a bowl with it will be on par with the grasshopper's heat as they draw about the same amount of amps.

Not a good assumption. Given FV's much larger mass the same heat (in Watts or calories) will end up with a lower temperature (degrees F or C).

and with adapters/water pieces the gh very well may compete against a desktop, just maybe not as straight forward and unit to unit as everyone thinks of it.

my point was the GH is under powered compared to a desktop. that lil cell is great for 15-30 rips right? a desktop is good until the unit dies or your power goes out.

not to mention the bowl capacity isnt close to a desktop.

id still be vaping away on a desktop while another user would be replacin/recharging cells and/or reloading. performance between the two are quite different. clearly the GH cannot stand up to a desktop let alone replace it. you simply arent going to get desktop performance from the GH.

it looks like a great vape for what it is tho.

The hopper isn't a great fit for my use case. I am not a sneak a toke guy and usually have my portable vape in a social environment. In my experience just handing a hopper to an unsuspecting user results in a startled reaction and occasionally a "dude I just burned my lip" comment. Again for a personal sneak a toke - it works really, really well. It also works really really well through glass since the vapor isn't as hot and it's still quite comfortable to hold, it also produces thick, satisfying clouds. That said - I own an e-nano and would never reach for the hopper in a home environment since the flavor from the nano is better. So again for the right kind of user its the perfect tool, but for me - it's just easier to use an oil pen on the go and the e-nano at home

I don't understand why people are defending GHL not being up front about what the device is mainly going to be used for and making excuses.

Why would it be so hard for them to let people know that it gets too hot to use for more than a hit or two?

Why do you guys think people should just automatically KNOW that information when going to buy this vaporizer when it is being advertised as the next big thing?

From a lot of these posts I get the vibe that "you should've known when you bought it" when in reality GHL should be the ones responsible for letting buyers know how their device is supposed to be used. Or at least how it's best suited to be used.

Have you never watched Buzz's video?

It sure looks to me like you can take much more than a hit or two before it gets too hot to hold! Has anyone considered that the post from reddit you are talking about could be a defective unit? Perhaps it has the hot collar issue and that's why it is getting to hot to hold in less than one bowl??

Judging by all the videos I have seen of the GH in use over the past months, I am willing to bet the unit you are talking about is defective.

Did you see the post right above my last one? He said his friends will say "dude I just burned my lips" after hitting it. And if I'm not mistaken the unit in Buzz's video isn't a production unit.

The mouthpiece getting hot is not the same thing as the whole unit getting too hot to hold in less than one bowl, this discussion started over the comment that the unit gets too hot to hold in less than one bowl. I do believe Buzz's video alone proves that this shouldn't be an issue.

If the one being discussed on reddit is getting too hot to hold that fast, it's defective.

Mouthpiece getting hot? That's what the cover is included for(no burnt lips).

I'm just as concerned with mouthpiece heat as overall heat. More so in fact.

It is supposed to be a portable/stealth vape and it does exactly that. to be somewhere with a solid session isnt very stealthy. When I think of portable, stealthy, and fast heat up my first thought is a few quick hits. We can not really classify this vape in ways which it has been by the community and waiters as a whole. While yes it would be nice to know up front that the unit can get hot they are also a business trying to get their product out and realistically putting somewhere that the unit may get too hot to use in a session scenario isnt going to be the best move to get more sales... and while they are trying to please the community and that they still need to sell and survive.

also yes its not a production unit but I cant imagine the difference in getting hot being that big... possible but we wont know until he gets his production to compare...

either way us on here have the information and it isnt too hard to find GH threads on FC or Reddit through google so if someone were to just blindly buy the vape without actually looking into it then they are taking a risk, and that is with any product really

You have already been cautioned about posting inflammatory statements. Calling someone a "fanboy" breaks our Be Nice rule. Warning point issued.

Absolutely ridiculous that someone should have to scour forums and subreddits to find out real information about the device they're looking to purchase. The fanboyism in this thread is strong.

Buzz also loaded about half the amount of a full chamber, which wasn't as described by that user on reddit. More material means more hits, more hits means more heat.

I have the urge to change my order from blue to safety orange, and get a warning etched into the side of it 'caution, is small, metal, and has a heater. Metal may be warm' on the side.

Nah, I like blue. I just wish it was here now. I can tell other GH users by the brand marks on their lip. Maybe they can retrofit a wee grasshopper to the tip, just for branding. Real branding, not that woosy marketing stuff...

You dont have to... and at least 90% of products (prob higher for electronics) has plenty of flaws or issues that consistently occur but are not found unless looking into reviews and comments on that product... while I agree you should not have to do such a thing to find out everything you may want to know about a product it is how things are.

and just because I am realistic about how things tend to be doesnt mean Im "fanboying"

The fact that you think it's okay that a vaporizer can only comfortably be used for a couple hits without the manufacturer explicitly stating that's the case in my opinion makes one a fanboy.
