Aromazap/Myrtlezap/CeramicRockZap

With all of the changes the Zap has undergone over the past couple months, it's essentially a brand new product so how about:

Zap_2.0 - Ceramic ?

I've always kinda like the name full name "Aromazap"--interesting, unique, clever. I had suggested "Ultrazap", but I actually think "Aromazap 2.0" might be better, imho.

Rick,

I find myself very tempted by the SSS zap.

Is there any chance we can get a pic of how it is assembled and how it sits in the wood? That way I could better wrap my head around how it is SSS.

Good tip about the voltage dimmer. :)

I guess my official entry will be R Zap for the reasons stated above. :D

Maybe I will win a percent off of an upcoming purchase?

i always find a way to get in trouble somehow. This has happened since kindergarden.

I will have to just choose one I guess....

i dont think a light dimmer would work they way you want, a potentiometer on the 12v line itself of proper wattage/resistance though would do the trick though

ob, I am the one who is in trouble because I did not make any rules. You did just fine but I think you will agree that one name per screen name is the fairest if I am to give away a prize?
We will work on assembly pics and get them up soon. They finish up real nice, top and bottom and should never move or rattle or char. Also very simple inner boring.
Some nice catchy names. I think we will find one soon. Thanks for all the contributions.
ob, pick one please. Maybe it slipped your mind on that last post?
I also want to consider all 'entries' so anyone else with more than one choice, narrow it to one please.
As I said, I should have made that clear in the beginning. My bad.

Could you clarify? A dimmer is not a potentiometer?(variable resistor)
Does a dimmer reduce ac voltage? How would a small heater be any different than a lightbulb for 'dimming'? Or is it the transformer that would not work properly?

Edit for:
All products except little stuff are disabled on the website for most of the weekend. Time to do a bunch of re-work.
All Zap orders except one that came in late yesterday are shipped and should arrive Monday if the mail is on time.
The end of brass stem tips has happened. Any Zap sold from now on will have SS stem tips and will have a slightly larger top heatport hole to accommodate the new SS tips.
We will continue to sell brass tipped stems for old Zaps and will offer a conversion bushing to use SS tipped stems on Zaps made prior to this date. The old brass tipped stems will work in the heatports sold from now on but will have extra slop. We will offer a bushing for a tighter fit of the old stems in the new ports.
Keep those names coming. So many more than we would have come up with already. We appreciate the help.
Thanks(below) wired57. I knew there was more to it than a simple old guy who learned electricity in the '50s would know. Incredible knowledge base with all the FC members.

rick, it's the way the transformer works, that's why you need to control it on the other side a light dimmer works by controlling the ac waveform and stopping it part way. it's like a light dimmer and a CFL bulb just doesn't work right.

"Sensi Zap"

Do I get to play too?

Since his design is high tech, it should have a high tech name. Like.

rick,
I was kidding with my last one.

I promise I will pick one. Just let me know which one you like. kidding again.

I will choose one and post. promise. My humor often does not come through in print. I am VERY sarcastic and I find that often does not work in print.

Damn, I just got fucking pissed because I wouldnt be able to put the SS stems in my new zap

but then I thought for a second and tried my PD stems and they fit so so so close to how the brass stems I have fit! :)

Don't know if it fits your style Rick, but seems like there should be CannabiZap vaporizer...

NYC. Our new SS stem tips are bigger than the PD stem you tried but we will have a simple adapter so you can use them in your Cherry Zap if that is your choice. I will also consider special requests to change out Zaps to the latest and last design for the SS stem tips.

ob, I am so personally familiar with sarcasm that maybe I miss it in others. You are doing just fucking fine now...........be sure to pick something I like though!
I am liking the names. Working on the website now and have left the name for insulated Zaps blank. I see some I like but want more.
I'll take working in the hot shop any day compared to sitting in the cool house updating our website. UGH!

Can I ammend mine ? SSS SUPERZAP . That way I'm not useing one that OB came up with ahead of me. My reasons are the same as in my previous post. Rock on all you Zapsters !!!

Here is where I am having trouble coming up with a single name.

I have thought about this a lot.

All the zaps so far have come from something specific about the specific model

The first was the aromazap. Then was the myrtlezap (because of the wood). Then they were based on the woods mostly. Walnutzap, cherryzap etc. Then was the ssszap or steelezap or whatever we were calling it. The new one seems like it should probably be based on the new ceramic interior. The only thing is that if we base in on that, then all future models will have to follow that name. For example if we call it ceramazap, and all future models are ceramic on the inside, they they are all ceramazaps. I suppose a walnut version would be the walnut ceramazap. Also one last think to consider is if all in the future will have ceramic or if Rick will offer other interiors.

You all can tell, I have spent entirely too much time thinking about this. I think I am maybe being to obsessive compulsive. Reason number 1000 why I probably need therapy :)

I think ceramazap is probably the best possible name. I guessed it just a little too late, so I would like to cast my vote for that one, in which case mattyg23 gets my vote (not that I get a vote!). That, and I cant decide which of mine I like best. good luck to everyone!

ps. since rick does not give a shit, I am going continue to be my sarcastic self.

btw HDlar, look at my signature. already done my friend. that was a while ago.

It would be cool if maybe I could have the newest parts put in but time will tell
it might just be easier to be able to use the same ones for both logs :)
