Vaping to fall back asleep

Hate that feeling when you live in non legal state and you get a oz of "mystery herbs" that turns out to be some serious sativa

Now I can never sleep yay!! Honestly until I got another strain I was considering stopping vaping it was so bad.

Anyone have similar experiences?

You gotta start sniffing around and find a grower you can become friends with! They almost always have at least a couple strains going.

And once you find him/her, you hang on for dear life and keep him/her happy at all times!

Not exactly instant gratification, but mail order seeds from europe to an mmj state will supply variety if you're willing to grow. There's a bit of a learning curve, but it's totally worth it. One way to make it easy is to use automatic (non-determinate) seeds, then you can veg and flower in the same space. The drawback is you have to keep buying seeds, but if you are exploring different strains this may be acceptable.

I live in a non legal state also. Good quality material but not much ability to select strain. Usually only one strain available at a time. Picked up some local homegrown (sativa?) and if I vape it before bed I am up for another 3 hours. Probably best for earlier in the day when I want to be busy. Luckily I've stockpiled some other material to balance things out. Experimenting to see how late in the day I can vape "serious" sativa and still sleep well at night.

I have a great Indica hybrid called Gringo at the moment which gets me to sleep perfectly and without concentrates (which I usually resort to for my insomnia)! For those who have trouble sleeping, QWISO made from AVB gets me to sleep in no time at all, every time. I have a very high tolerance too! I would strongly recommend looking into your strains and considering making concentrates/using kief for sleep :D

when i wake up -- I turn on my portable which has a drop left in on purpose --- I take three deep vape clouds (wax of course) and it helps ability to go back to sleep as long as I don't have to wake up 2 hours away :)

I wanna hear your experiences or if any one else has this problem and found another solution...

Greetings, I enjoyed reading through the thread, and like others noted how different each of us are in our sleep patterns/needs.

I am a non-cannabis vaporist. I'd like to use the stuff but my employer has a no-use policy in place so i'm here to enjoy the other healthy herbs from the garden and shelves.

That said i thought i'd share a couple insights i've gained for myself over the years.

Here's a snippet of Dr. Mercola: The Myth of the Eight-Hour Sleep:

"...One experiment conducted in the 1990s, for example, seemed to indicate that when completely left to their own devices, people would sleep for four hours, then wake for one or two hours before falling into a second four-hour sleep.
More recently, historians have uncovered a wealth of historical evidence that humans in fact used to sleep in two distinct segments...
The above is me to a T. And i no longer sweat it. Due to my typical up-during-daylight body clock i tend to wake between 1 am to 2 am after heading off to sleep between 9pm and 10pm. I will then typically try to solve the worlds problems for an hour or so and drift off to sleep and wake on my own at about 6 am ready for the day.

...I just can't sustain REM for long, but cannabis definitely helps, and it helps a lot, and a lot of it helps even more...
There are non-drug related ways to assist the mind into a REM state. I've been experimenting with one of those ways for over a decade...BrainWave Entrainment audio files with a pillow speaker (i also have some very comfortable over-the-ear-buds that i can sleep with too). Anywhoo... I've made hundreds of BWE audio files over the years and have uploaded a sample of them at my website (at this link). They are mp3 fiiles and are free to any and all who wish to experiment. And while i realize we are all different...i can say for myself and dozens of friends/co-workers/family members who have joined me in this experiment over the years... this technology does work for many of us.

Here are a few in particular that i will link to directly (there is nothing for sale or of commercial nature at my domain...it's just me, my art, and my hobbies :)
as a disclaimer, i recommend that you do a quick read of _this article_ i created for a Health & Wellness CD project i did for my employer. It gives some tips on BWE file use.

ENJOY :)

just something i'm playing with that includes Tibetan bowls and rain (60 min file to chill with)

21 minutes of 8hz Shumann frequency (the "Earth Pulse") with gentle rain and distant thunder: (I use this type of file for what i call "Power Naps" as i can take a quick 15 or so minute nap and feel rested when the final gentle bell rings.)

a couple of files out of my "Jolt" collection (Beta frequencies and ambient sounds) I use them on quick breaks instead of drinking coffee:

And just for kicks and giggles... one of many experiments with frequencies ranging from Delta all the way up to Gamma that i've received comments by some users that they "Saw lights" and other dreamy sort of comments during the 55 minute "Trip".

I sleep like a rock, but I also vape pretty heavily before I go to bed, at least a bowl or two. I do sometimes on the weekends wake up early, vape, and do some stuff for an hour :brow: and then go back to sleep. I have no ability to pick strain either unfortunately D: but like I said its not usually an issue for me I can sleep pretty easily.

If I vape before bed it can keep me up. It seems to stimulate my brain. I use SleepPhones for nighttime listening, very comfortable. Usually talk radio, old time radio like Dragnet, Gunsmoke, and I Was A Communist For The FBI, The Caravan to Midnight or if I want to relax I use water/flame sounds or Holosync from the Centerpointe Research Institute to meditate or change my brainwave state.

Im the type of person who has a lot of difficulty getting back to sleep if something has woken me up in the early morning even if I have only gotten 4-5 hours, i recently found that vaping at a low temp helps tremendously to get back to sleep, however i wake up it takes a while till I actually feel "awake"

i wanna hear your experiences or if any one else has this problem and found another solution.

Also I'm curious what people's opinions are on vaping after brushing your teeth before sleeping? I try not to do it but occasionally i need more meds right up until pass out how, bad Is this bad for my mouth?

my underlying medical condition and prescribed meds always wake me several times a night. until recently i literally could be woken up if lucky just once an hour but often up to 4 every friggin hour, not night but hour. it was awful but i came to just accept it as a given. smoking did help some, not nearly enough though.

then when i got my mflb i tried using that and it was better. problem i had was that using the mflb once i was half awake, by the time i had finished prep & using i was almost fully awake. so that also not so good but better than smoking. then after years:myday: of going through this nightly and honestly i'd given up hope entirely of ever getting a full good nights rest. last month i got a vapirrise my first desktop vaporizer. i never thought about using it at night when i ordered it. that said it was the best surprise when i started using it.

i fill the herb bowl only 1/4 full. that gives me easily three full balloons. i set it up next to my bed and use it first as the LAST thing i do before trying to sleep. i wake now usually 2x sometimes just once a night:tup:as everything is all setup and ready to go. all i do when i wake that 1st time is flip the power on, wait a minute the bag fills while i do my best not to wake up anymore. about 3 minutes after hitting the power button i simply flip the switch off, inhale, set the emptied balloon down and go back to sleep. IF i wake again it's all there setup, ready to go just flip a switch and out cold for the remainder.

of course you want to carefully select what type herb used but after years suffering through every night and never getting decent sleep. vaping with my new model has made my quality of life so much better. i can't speak to other makes and models of vaporizers but you want to get something that you can setup before you crash and operate simply with as few steps as possible when you do wake in the night. as we all know the more you get woke up the harder and longer it takes to go back to sleep. i think models like the vapirrise, volcano, mighty, crafty, herbalizer, extreme q all good options but of course everyone has different criteria for choosing vaporizers. that said vaping w/my new device has given me back something i thought i'd lost on out for good, sleep. there is hope:nod:

thanks, you are so right about the toll, i mean after a few years it becomes your new normal, one that sucks but still. then to get sleep, something i'd forgotten what it was like and i like most took for granted for most of my life but no more. a good nights rest is priceless. last night was the best i only woke once:clap: all night long! no prescribed sleep meds just my good ole vape...awesome way to start the new year!

that said to everyone, have a Great New Year:rockon:

I've been an insomniac as far back as I can remember (seriously, I remember my dad tucking me in bed when I was in kindergarten, telling me to close my eyes and go to sleep, and I couldn't fathom how that would work) and both nature and nurture have made me someone that has serious issue sleeping. I've tried the pill route, I haven't had a television in my bedroom in years, and all that jazz, and still I sleep like a colicky baby. Vaping right before bed can tip either way for me- I've found if I give myself enough lead time to gear down, I usually can manage around 1 am (that's excellent for me). The split sleep thing makes sense to me, but I find that when I vape in that between time, I'm 'rewarding' myself and it makes the split thing worse. Not to mention that I don't wake up at the same time- sometimes it's two hours before I should be up and unless I'm in a 'screw it' mood, I don't like to go to work buzzing.

I got my sleep phones in a groupon sale a couple of weeks back, and I only wish I'd went ahead and ordered two pairs. I sometimes will listen to repeats of podcasts to help bring on sleep and these things are awesome.

So I just woke up in the night to a bunch of text messages from a friend in another timezone. Usually this would mean an entire night's sleep lost. Not with mmj. Got up, snapped off a shard of blue cheese absolute shatter:

C9kqN4v.jpg

Then snapped off another .025g shard of Northern Lights Absolute Shatter (Yes, the pictured concentrate is more like quartz than glass!):

VCrGqrT.jpg

Bhombed them on my quartz dnail, then did a session on the Mighty at 178c through my steamroller pipe for the first few tasty hits and then 192c through my Luke Wilson rig when things got too hot.

Sleep should present no significant challenge.

I wake up two or three times a night. I use to get upset everytime I woke up. Now I vape and surf the net for about 1/2 an hour. Sometimes I have to make myself go back to bed because I am enjoying what I am reading about on the net.

Eating ganja make me very sick so I can't medicate that was.

Consider edibles made with pristine concentrates - you may have sensitivity to chlorophyll - which whilst a pain in the ass can be worked around and doesn't need to hold you back from medibles :-)

holy shit that's pretty.

Cheers brother :)

I second the edibles. Save up what you vape. I make ABV capsules and they give a nice sedative effect. If you have any questions about them, ask away. :D
Capsules?? What do you do, just empty out a capsule of over the counter meds? How much do you use? How long for effects etc?? Thanks!!! God Bless!!!:peace:

@Compassion You can buy empty capsules online. Many folks use them for homemade vitamin supplements. You would make canna oil and put them in a capsule. I have cannabis oil made with coconut oil that I just use a tablespoon of. It has a really nice flavor, almost nutty, I don't mind the taste at all.

Do some research on the cooking with cannabis thread. There are several recipes for making canna coconut oil. You just need to get the dosage down. That's the tricky part. Start out sloooow.

EDIT
It's so hot I've had a hard time falling a sleep lately. We don't have air conditioning because we only have really hot weather for a month or so. Last summer and this one have proven to be a scorcher. We have 3 fans, it's cooler now but it should be its midnight.

Got some Gorilla Glue strain to the rescue along with my medicating friend the Nano. Hopefully I can relax and fall asleep soon. Luckily it's vacation time for me so no work.
