Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

Terps Up, Temps Down
G just confirmed in a private message that what I saw is in fact being made by them, but for a different company. @masaki it isn't even close to a replacement for the Herc. The Herc is still the big dog.

I cant seems to find the KISS gen2 carts anywhere in stock.

Are these new gen3 version good to work with omnicron and persei? Are they of a similar cart design?

@lucky778 Yup, but way better than v2, don't trip. Get an Alpha Centauri skillet instead if you wanted to use it in the Okeanos, tho. I don't think my 3rd gen fit in there very well, but I guess I'll check again in the morning.

IMO the Herc is great as is. The Prototype Top tank that G sent to me is ok but by no means an improvement. The Herc is a Vapor beast in its current form. The Proto tank does nearly eliminate leakage, and the need for cool down hits, but at the expense of flavor.

And that is why ladies and gentleman we campaigned for cool down hits.

i wonder what happened to the guys who said their new units don't require cool down hits and later learned their "manufacturer" suggest cool down hits to keep oil from dropping into the cart that can never be recovered.

I swear first it was low temperatures with the original hammer that was being frowned upon but now everyone's into low temps and now the herc for needing cool down hits to preserve taste is bad but one they replace it with is starting to require the same thing.

Wait for it, as another company will take credit for this as well.

This morning I screwed in my dead Dual AC cart and it started heating up!!
Removed it and it was dead again..

masaki,
@THC SCIENTIFIC
Please never change the herc..
Note to self next order as many Sr-71's I can afford!!!
Herc sr71 absolute masterpiece

Thanks for inventing it
Game changer
That's a little hasty... If he could invent a better pad/coil for it, I'm in. I still am apt to have coil seating issues now and again.
I also think that @SamuraiSam came up with a great idea, inadvertently, by saying his Herc doesn't have a window... ;)

Man I would have loved a magic window into that thing when I was first starting out with the herc. At first I was always checking the top and bottom chambers too much trying to see if I was doing it right.

I know what you mean but I think this is an important part of learning to use the Herc. I used to check it continuously but now I can go for days just topping it up from time to time.

Likely one of the legs has lost contact.
I've had some similar issues. Gets especially bad as oil builds up between the ceramic bowl and case. I've removed the center pin cleaned the cart and repositioned legs so that grounding is secure. Be careful not to break the wire as this is how we get the acquired resistance (ohms) needed for most batteries to operate within a safe range.
Without disassembly, I've also tried pushing the ceramic cup down into the casing with my finger and sometimes will help with contact.

Do you feel the prototype might have any advantage in group settings? My wife and I are learning the 74x together and the nibbler helps - we probably will bring the herc camping at a party with a large group friends, and I keep imagining myself having to bring a jar of iso to clean up if/when someone overheats and drops the load. While the original has superior taste, I wonder if you feel the prototype might have usage among group settings with noobs who don't understand pulsing and cool down hits? Thanks for being the guinea pig on this one =)

It is possible that noobs will find it a bit more forgiving. But the penalty for too much button is a mouth full of arse. The burned oil flavor will linger until the unit is cleaned out.

When I can appreciate the efforts and idea of change, I just expected a more complex prototype. I think the Hercules as it is, is damn near perfect. I'm not denying the need for cool down hits on the Hercules. What I wish and hope for is a whole different design that can eliminate the need for cool down hits.
Okay this is just an idea. What if there is an atomizer that is consisted of a 1701 on the bottom and another cartridge closely above with its own heating element of some kind that is used just to heat up the oil chamber enough for it to start dripping down to the ceramic donut to be vaped.

So there would be 2 different fire buttons. One to make the oils drip down. The other to fire the donut.

Just a wild idea and probably won't work. It would be awesome if you guys can go in a completely different direction than the Hercules though.

That's a little hasty...
I don't know what's hasty about me loving my Sr-71...
Absolute perfection upgraded to gr-2 titanium never looked back. Never had a problem with floating coil or leaking into reclaim tank. Unless I pass it to someone who knows more than what I am explaining. I try not to pass my herc around.
If I had my way I'd have a bunch of v1 tops & Sr-71's I'm just old school. Not saying I won't try something new. I'm just gonna have 4or5 sr71's in back up.
Extended stays in the hospital sr-71 always does the job...
