I wonder if it will take longer to get up to temp with a chilled CU. Bonus points if you time the heatup for comparison sake.

I clearly missed the purchase minimum on their website. Ended up going to namastavape and they hooked me up. Thx to those that replied!It actually does state that free shipping only applies to orders over $25. It's not on every mention of the "Free Shipping" of the website, but if you go read the details it does state it.
Understand you're upset, but you can't really fault them for it. What if someone ordered a $5 spare part? They'd be losing money on it. There has to be some sort of minimum. The fact that free shipping is even offered is a rarity these days.
Go load a bowl, and realize how much you really do love your Crafty

I went to bed and forgot the CU in the freezer, will try to remember to time the heating but I think I'll lose some coolness on the process. Had to send my Crafty in to their repair facility in Germany, my unit finally died on me and started flashing orange so I popped it in the post which took around 7 days there and back from the UK. Fantastic service, received a brand new unit back with all the accessories!
My old Crafty did not connect to the app, the new one does so instantly!
The new design around the heating unit looks a lot tougher, my old one was pretty much destroyed. Although I will admit that I have dropped it on occasion, but the thing get's you high.. it's to be expected..
It's so clean and new looking I am in love with it all over again.
No more MFLB, that was horrible.
My old Crafty did not connect to the app, the new one does so instantly!

I tried to measure the timing but with such a cold CU, the heater took 3:30" to reach 166°C and died in the effort of reaching 188°C. Never went hotter than 166 but the battery was around 10% at the beginning, so it had barely the juice to do a cycle with a normal CU.
Will try after my unit will be operating again.

Well you should use the brush after every session. For a legit clean you disassemble the cooling unit and soak in ISO for no more than 30 minutes.
For the heating unit you can use a magic eraser or ISO and a q tip.

Do you have an extra cooling unit? If you want to continue this, you could heat it up with a room temperature unit, then switch to the frozen cooling unit after your crafty is up to temperature.

I am now looking for advice on keeping the cooling unit as clear as possible, as with the default screen the unit gets clogged up fast.

New CU looks sick!!! Thats the only negative thing Im having wih my Crafty right now, the worry of breaking it and having to ship it from Manila to claim warranty.
I have an xx017 unit 2.07 wih about 50 hours on it... And Im still on a honeymoon phase, love how deep you can get buzzed from this. A friend has a Pax that we sometimes hit, but it really doesnt compare.
The only problem I had with this at first was the battery and how you have to charge it every use, which now doesnt bother me at all. I have a powerbank that charges my Crafty in the car when Im at work, wouldnt want the Crafty laying around the office for wallcharging.
I clean my CU every 7 days. I always use a screen or the oil pad for half loads so my CU wouldnt be that hard to clean.
Seriously, if anyone has a complain with the Crafty, only question is, is there any portable better? Mighty? I always regret not getting it for long sessions with a big group, and def music festivals. But if I had both, Id be using the Crafty more often.

I have had the same experience with the liquid pad. I posted about problems with the taste of the liquid pad on Reddit and was told that I was liar. I was told that a simple soak in ISO will have it as good as new again. Unfortunately this is not the case.

So, I am new to this forum. Longtime, Volcano user. Just moved back to Cali and my set up has changed. I need to now be portable. Two young daughters so I smoke outside. New house doesn't have a real yard. I also like to go on long bike rides or 4-5 hour hikes. I only need 3-4 sessions over that time frame, so will the crafty battery hold up for 5 hours? Or do I need the Mighty. The small size is very appealing to me so the crafty is my preferred option.

Hey guys, I've been an arizer user since day 1. I have the extreme q, solo and air. I've been thinking about the crafty but not sure if it's worth it since I have the arizer air which does the job great. Any suggestions on what to expect coming from the solo and air? I'm also looking at the plenty but that of course would be my indoors vape since you need a outlet. I just need more research on it's performance.

The crafty has a decent-size bowl, but four sessions is definitely pushing its battery. I would say for that kind of use and runtime, get the mighty. Or perhaps consider an additional battery pack to charge from.

I agree with @grokit. Although I'm a Crafty fan, I don't think it's the right fit for your described needs and circumstances. I'm not sure if the Mighty will be too big to carry for your bike rides in Cali. I don't have butane powered vapes, but many FCers do and rave about them...particularly for use during outdoor events. And some are not very expensive. So not to confuse things, but you may want to consider a Crafty AND a butane powered Vape.
I'll let the FC experts weigh in on which are their favorites, and if they agree.

What are you waiting for them to refine? There are no changes in the pipeline that I'm aware of. They updated part of the housing, where the cooling unit connects, but that's been about it. Even then, don't worry if you get an older one. Plenty of them out there without issue, and if you ever encounter an issue, S&B will take care of you.
Get one now, no need to wait.
The only thing that could really be "refined" is a longer battery life. But that's only going to come with a larger battery. And maybe in a few years, S&B will offer a higher capacity battery, but I wouldn't be waiting for that. It might never happen.

I'm really happy with mine. And if you've read this and the Mighty thread, it seems that most people are very happy with S&B's customer service if you do have a problem. Knock on wood, I haven't had any issues with my Crafty and it's pretty new.
So pull the trigger! You'll be happy you didn't wait.

It depends how large a bowl you load, and how quickly you vape it. You could get 3 or 4 bowls in one battery charge, but you'd be pushing it to the edge imo.
I typically get 3 bowls per charge. But I also load full bowls, and don't rush through the session.
You could always grab a small USB battery pack like mentioned, to give you that extra top off you need. Or, you could get the Mighty and not have to worry about it. The Mighty is definitely larger, but it's not massive. Think about the size of a large smart phone (a Note or something similar).
I don't have extensive experience with the Solo/Air, but from the times I've used it, it didn't compare with the Crafty/Mighty. The Solo/Air are great vapes, and a steal for their price. But if you want the top notch performance, the Crafty/Mighty knock them around.
You'll notice nearly no draw restriction with the Crafty/Mighty. That was one thing I definitely didn't like with the Solo/Air, too much draw restriction. The Crafty/Mighty truly do offer desktop performance in a portable vape.

hello all. been lurking since november or so. thanks for all the knowledge and advice everyone has shared (i’ve read the volcano, mighty, and crafty threads).
i fucked combustion 4 years ago and have tried many different vaporizers along the way. i drive a solid valve volcano daily. used to travel with pax or firefly (hated both for different reasons). i got a crafty in november and fell in love with the extraction (and flavor) instantly. it’s the only portable that was able to get me to the level i want, how i want it. thats been my go to travel vape since.
i am here now to warn fellow crafty owners that their time to get a 'cheap' mighty upgrade is running out or may be over.
my unit CY0014XX, bought in november, crapped out last week (2.04 firmware and just under 40 hours of use). i emailed S&B and got a shipping label emailed to me. i sent over my packaged up crafty and asked for a mighty upgrade in a letter i sent with the unit.
a few days later, i got an email with this invoice attached:
this was my first crafty return not my second like stated on invoice. they also messed up and put a crafty instead of a mighty on the invoice.
i called. they told me there was a new return/exchange policy in place. i politely responded that i was a long term customer as well as an early adopter of the crafty and wanted a $30 upgrade like my 'friend' (thanks FC) received a few weeks ago. i told them i did not appreciate the different care i was receiving, and hoped they would make an exception for me since it was only a recent policy change. the agent said he needed to talk to others at headquarters and call me back. after 3 hours of waiting i got the call. they would upgrade me for $50 since i was one of the first customers to buy a crafty (november). $50 not $30 he said. sounded like a special one time thing. so i took them up on their offer, paid over the phone, and just got notice of shipment from them. agent confirmed i was getting the new housing without me even asking about it. he was proud of it. said no more cracking or issues from overheating.
what to take from this? i got lucky. you better try now if you want to do what i did. and it appears our $400 or the $340 they are now, are only worth $100 in S&B's eyes after a few months of light use.
not sure if i would have had to pay the whole $240 to get my crafty back if i didn’t get an early adopter upgrade. i had to sell hard to get my mighty deal. they weren’t budging at first.
i must add, and end with, that the S&B customer service today really took care of me and had my back with upper management. my agent was the man. he should get a raise.
i am excited to get my mighty.

Thanks. I think the answer is the crafty with a special battery pack for day hikes. Most bike rides are only two hours or so. I really appreciate all the advice. I love my Volcano and was sad to have to give it to a friend. I joked with my wife that it was very expensive to have to buy a new house just for me to be able to smoke in my yard.....Got a campus house at a UC which is a great deal, but no privacy. We will move in a few years to a better set up and I will be back to the Volcano, or whatever S&B has then. Love the company and I hated my pax, butane portables.....omnicrom
