IBS, Cannabis and Depression

Hey guys, how's it going?
So, had IBS for 10+ years... It sucks. Found Cannabis. Helped. BIG TIME.
Fixed 90% of the IBS...
But, on the other hand, I'm finding myself a little depressed.
Any ideas?
It seems, if I stick with the Cannabis, I'll have no IBS, but be depressed...
Without Cannabis, no depression, but I'll have IBS.

I have to vape/smoke everyday at night. It's really a little tiny bit.
It feels ok to be high, but the everyday thing is kinda annoying sometimes.

Any clues, guys?

Thanks in advance!

This is kind of strange, but isn't anxiety and depression one of the causes of IBS?
I know how you feel because I feel that same way with my anxiety and IBS.
I know it is impossible to pinpoint the real cause of IBS, but in my case it has a lot to do with strain, I'll suggest you find a strain that doesn't cause anxiety or depression like strawberry cough (assuming you are in a legal state).

Edit: @VapourHaze beat me to it.

I'm not in a legal place, in fact I'm not in the USA. Sucks, huh?

Also, maybe I'm consuming a big dose? I'm very very very sensitive, so I try to vape/smoke as little as possible.

Oh, yeah... Just quit taking supplements also, such as creatine... I'm guessing that might have to do with it, also...

I think I might lower the dose a little more.
Also, does smoking really provide more CBD than vaping?

Thanks a bunch, guys.
Sorry for being so confusing.

There are studies about cannabis being an anti-depressant at low doses. But a depressant at high doses.

What vape are you using? Im surprised the pot is making you depressed .. it normally has the opposite effect for me.

Hello My Friend,
First off 'creatine' can cause all sorts of intestinal issues. I was on in it a couple of times over my career, and most of the time ok, but every once in a while, especially if a little anxiety was mixed in, bowels went crazy.

Second, I'm retired FDNY, at 9-11, and dealing with anxiety, depression, and PTSD for years. Two things most ppl never think about, anxious bladder and bowels. Much of your "seratonin" is secreted in your bowels. There is some direct connection between anxiety / depression (anxiety where you give up) and that feeling in your stomach / intestine / bladder (the entire region). I can have heavy anxiety one day, and can't get out of the bathroom, I can calm (vape or otherwise) and it goes away INSTANTLY. Cannabis happens to be a good source at stimulating production (or use) of seratonin - what SSRI's do.

I've been smoking pot for years, and love to vape. You don't have that experience. Vape just a bit, play with the temps to dial in effect (low temp generally higher, high temps generally more sedated). After a hit or two wait ten minutes to see how you feel. Vaping on a full stomach can help (at least it gets me a bit less high).

Good luck, stay calm, and vape on...

ONE MORE THING: I own a small gym here on LI, one day the owner of "Rockin' Wellness" joins (quite the character and cannabis enthusiast). He survived cancer, TWICE, and attributed much of his healing and being able to tolerate meds, because of rockin. It a nutritional shake (not a protein drink) with all nonGMO, anti-inflammatory, organic ingredients. Helps thousands with IBS !!! I drink a delicious shake every day (2 scoops) with almond milk (using dairy defeats the purpose as it's inflammatory to the bowel).

Go to their facebook page (a few million fans), and read all the amazing stories. I've been on this stuff for 3 years, and have benefited in many ways...

That's a tough one. For depression I'd say go with a sativa. But that could exacerbate the anxiety. If you have good access, a hybrid strain might do the trick.

For depression, recommend strain Sour Diesel. Just the plain old Sour Diesel, not any of the cross strains.

Very uplifting!

I'd like to know what temps the OP vapes at. My wife is BiPolar so depression is an issue. Also suffers from Anxiety. I also believe she has IBS, but getting her to go to the doctor is hard as you could imagine. Buying a Vape this week to try and get her to start on cannabis. All new to us at this point. I have back and some nerve pain issues in my arm/hand.

PS...my virgin post :)

hmmm i had a maniac depressiv friend and as far as i know cannabis was not really good for him... i would be careful... and would ask a doctor who really knows something about cannabis.. and maybe use really small amo6nts... read a lot of informations in internet... mqybe use indica dominant strains... be careful!!! it could help her but also it maybe a bad idea to consume cannabis for her
...
but maybe there are better informed people or people who have experience with cannabis and bipolar d. on fc.com who can help you

Yep, definitely will be careful. She is not the typical bipolar. Her ups and downs are throughout a day compared to the normal week or month stretches.

Still trying to educate her on the helpfulness of all this. She won't smoke with me at nighttime before bed (in the process of getting a vape) cuz she says it keep sher up. I'm hoping to fix that issue after the vape comes with temperature and also have some DSOTM CBD Oil coming.

if you want to vape cbd you should buy cbd wax (it should be extracted using supercritical co2 extraction other cbd oils are stretched with vegtable oil or hemp seed oil and so on and their boiling and combustion point is not as high as thc (weed) and therefore not healthy... in the usa i should not be a problem to get good cbd wax... if you are from europe look here http://cbdcure.eu/collections/cbd-cure-paste ...
i am able to sleep deep with this...
also it is true that some sativa strains with high thc low cbd make you energetic and it is hard to sleep... maybe try indica strains with higher cbd... also sativa strains make me loco sometimes and depressed if i am vaping to much...

good luck and really be carefull start with really small doses for her and wait because sometimes the effect is not acting immidiatly
