For me, it is

D). When taste is off/burnt

Interesting.

This is just pure speculation on my part, but do you think the decrease in taste is due to you going too long without refilling?

My line of thinking -> As you continue to vape past the buffer, you have vaped off all the goodies. What you're left with now is anything left over. Even super refined/clean oil will leave behind something after enough has been run through. As a result, you're holding the power button longer, trying to extract every last bit. This gets everything hotter, and starts to burn what's left, thus causing the decrease in taste.

Like I said, complete speculation. Just wondering if that might be what's causing it.

I am not sure exactly what is happening but I have read that when there is no longer enough buffer to replace what was just vaped, oil gets cooked and the flavor falls off. This has been my experience.

Gotcha, basically what I was getting at with my post.

So I'm definitely looking for the proper refill marker prior to the taste decrease. Because if you've gotten to the point of decreasing taste, you've gone too long without reloading.

Now to just find out if that point is when the coil begins to look dry, or when the coil still has a wet sheen to it, but no oil on top of it.

Thanks for your experiences :)

I have noticed once I hit the buffer and I add about .2 -.3g, full flavor returns like new.

The only time I even clean it is when I think I have turned the hammer top off but actually left it on and it cooked the load beyond salvage.

When have people found it to be the best time to reload the Herc? How can you tell when you're starting to vape the "buffer"?

Should I reload when:

A) No visible oil in chamber, coil looks dry
B) No visible oil sitting on top of coil, but coil has a "wet" look to it
C) Hits begin to decrease, not paying much attention to look of the coil

And when reloading, I believe it's best to have a slight pool on top of the coil? Nothing too thick, but covering it. Is that correct?
You can often notice a slight decrease in vapor production before the flavor changes much. It's subtle and can be tricky, so I always try fresh batteries first.

so i just got notice on this prototype being done.

Slowly we are clearing our plate of things that needed our attention.

This issue was for the Core that people where having when they moved around, now the cord is attached to the base there is no more issues at hand.

These will be available hopefully in 2 months once we work out production details.

next up is a few more other things.

but we are getting there.

That looks like a perfect fix. This, and the stiffness of the wire causing it to become unplugged from the base were my only complaints.

Any plans to make the core part (the bit the goes into the Persei) available separately?
I don't really need a second power supply but my wife and myself do have our "own" Persei and it would be great to just grab the power cable and plug in.

how would these connect to existing cores? would we need to send our core in?
pretty sure the wire on my core isn't removable?

Think Up Tech when it comes to customer care.

It's backwards compatible. Meaning it will connect to the Cores current wire.

Will the cord no longer be detachable from the Core insert? If so how are we expected to set the vape down? It will have to always lay on its side now?

Only way to fix it is this way. You can still have the other style insert, it will come with the kit, this will just be available for the previous owners and new owners when we have them in. There will be a small charge for the extra insert for new owners and a upgrade fee for previous owners

Look at it again; connector is the same (more or less) as what's in your base, it's just located outside the base, now. It likely just makes it impossible to knock the connector loose when jamming the cord in too hard (not that the user is at fault; a poor soldering job could make all manner of pressure "too hard").

I'm working with the same Herc as you guys I don't have a window cut into mine, and I haven't really discussed this with G in detail, but my imagination has painted a picture like this:

Part of what the buffer does while staying saturated is keep heat transfer going between the oil and rod and allow more oil to feed out of the wick into the rod. When you start to notice less vapor production this is because there isn't as much oil left close enough to the rod to feed into the rod as easily so more heat is needed to get the oil further away to vaporize. If you look at the coil at this point there is no oil left on top and also around the rod from the center there isn't going to be much oil.

This is why the taste starts to fall away, as more heat is needed to get the oil left in the cart the flavor goes down as everyone knows higher temperature hits are less tasty.

So the easy thing to do here is add more oil before this becomes a problem and before you have to introduce more heat to keep the vapor production up.

Ohhhhhhhhh, I like this. Alot.
Ha, I was actually still saying ohhh out loud as I read yours.

That's an awesome way to make it work for everyone @THC SCIENTIFIC .

I haven't had issues with it coming unplugged, but I like the longer cord. I tend to keep my core on 7.4 lately and this will let me move it and give me more precious desk space.

Just saw a new UP Tech product that should be available very soon. I'll just say that ceramic fans will be very happy. ;)
Is it a layg style... Or we talking all ceramic mini
Herc?!?!??!

I'm for one am done with layg style cartridges. I can respect how easy they are to use. And the flavor and vapor quality are top notch thanks to @THC SCIENTIFIC.
Im just not a fan of the layg style.

It would be nice to see new shells for the herc.

What if instead of a ceramic Rod. The herc had a ceramic cup w/ Ti coils sitting inside it? 1701+herc!?

And... I'm bored at work XD
