Well apparently we have 3 aerospace engineers, I'm assuming whatever the issue, they can get in there and fix it. That being said, I think they need a public relations specialist to inform the public, and put out fires. People naturally become anxious when there is communication breakdown.

Apollo 11 came before Apollo 13 right..? However it is good to know that 'historically' speaking they have taken care of the users that report issues in mere days, with that said, once you get your unit, youre covered (ie, 'minimal' (subjective) downtime), and so far end users dont have to send in their unit before receiving a replacement. which in reality cannot be said of a lot of other vape manufacturers. Their rep seems to float from one phase to the next.. I hope we can all get on the same page by getting a unit. It is however completely understandable that some have lost faith in HLs abilities.

Bit off more than they could chew! I'm sure it's very stressful on their end, could you imagine the look they would give you right now if you worked there and asked for a week off! LOL I feel for them, trying to catch the deluge in a paper cup!

no reason to have herb in the chamber even though its not like its cooking, but I do think having oils heat and re-cool in the chamber over time will increase the need to clean. I mean I just cleaned it today after two weeks of heavy use so maybe we're talking you would increase the frequency of cleaning by maybe a day or two, certainly not a week and everyone who has a GH will find their preferred usage method since its designed to be .....:science:
I concur another fine report.... I do have a question about the cleaning your doing..... I think I remember back in your 8 stoner vacation story that you had mentioned the need to poke a hole in the air path... I think it was a paper clip that you said you used..... so how are you keeping or cleaning this air path now and also what I'm most interested in is do you think you could scrap out to reclaim the yummyness that condenses along the inside of the air path..... for example could you collect anything with say that paper clip you used or maybe a tooth pick perhaps...?

Some people accused me of being negative, so I'm NOT going to link to the new post on reddit of another "red and blue lights of death" situation....

Woops, beat me to it...

I don't think anyone cares about getting facts, good or bad, from you or anyone else...

Its all about how the writing is phrased... Facts can be stated neutrally, thats what everyone is [supposedly] looking for...

And yes this goes for people being accused of being overly positive too.

I think you could if you are strategic about. I actually for real cleaned it for the first time in about two weeks and I started by cranking it up to temp 5 to melt everything and then I used a paper clip to scoop the reclaim. It's not really enough to be worth the effort in my opinion though, after two weeks it was just a little smidge, remember the whole itself is pretty small and it wasn't even enough to clog it.

The other reason I would say it's probably not worth the effort is that I realize now if I cleaned it more often I wouldn't be getting what I thought were pieces of flower going through the screen and instead were bits of reclaim melting and flying into my mouth, I'm as down for a dab as anyone but not that way :-)

EDIT: Also you can use the GH in a novel culinary way. I have a breakfast blend of cannabis and other herbs I vape in the morning and then I use the abv to season my eggs! #BoulderHippy -in response to the question about vaping other herbs with the GH it was a reddit but I think someone asked on here too

I posted this on the reddit about the errors lights so hope it's useful here too. Also the reddit post did mention as I have said that even people with problems still give the device positive feedback. DONT PANIC!

I posted this somewhere else but there are two identified issues with separate batches. Both problems have been identified.

1. Red/Blue lights. First everyone should know that that combination is an error light that is supposed to come on if the heater exceeds its operating allowance tempature. Some units had a faulty sensor and that problem has been corrected. Here is how to check if it is functioning properly. If you get Red/Blue lights that should only happen if the unit is on and being used. If the heater exceeds its threshold the lights should flash blue/red momentarily. What is happening is the heater is cycling off to reduce tempature. Once proper tempature is restored it should return to blue and continue to vape. The clicking sound it makes should still be going on. If any of those these are not happening then it is probably in that faulty sensor batch, let them know they will send you a new one.

2. Overhearing collar. This is indicated if the collar that holds the clip gets excessively hot. There is a series of backends that have a fault. It has been idenfied and corrected. The vape may still work with this fault. Even if it still works you should contact GH because they probably want to replace it. The fault is only with the backend in that instance but they replace the whole unit.

3. Solid Red: This is a general error light. When it's solid red that means it's not going to operate. It is likely one of the above to reasons that caused it but in any event contact them.

For what it's worth I know all this because I was at GH labs and it was explained to me. It should also be known that the failure rate isn't crazy high actually and every faulty unit has been replaced. I had to replace my Firefly twice under warranty and I bought that just this February, more than a year after launch so folks really shouldn't panic.

EDIT: @tubasco in answer to your question, no I don't like my grasshopper .... I FUCKING LOVE IT!

Lol those overly positive people always try to brush off every problem.

"Oh, it flashes the red and blue lights of death and never turns back on again? Well, I for one love that feature because that means it will help me moderate my usage. Go Hopper Labs!"

Hey Grimkruk! Thanks for the info!!! Did you receive your full order? If so, can you give us your comparison of the ss and Ti? Thx again!

SS vs Ti difrences are nominal at best. I bet it will resist a bit more as far as dropping and keys in pocket etc but for me (a person focused on function) they were the same experience. My full order did arrive and I was loving it until last night it combusted a few times then down right stopped working. Flashing red and blue lights. My new unit is already on the way though. Bugs happen. Does not change what I think about it at all. Thing is absolutely awesome! When it works....haha

I am NOT saying the sky is falling, BUT, there's been another grasshopper death. I'll admit I am a little worried now. https://www.reddit.com/r/GrassHopperVape/comments/3esvdx/red_and_blue_lights_of_death/

EDIT: the point of this post is to express my general sense of worry, not to incite panic. I REALLY hope Hopper Labs addresses the failures in their next update. They have to know that we know, right? I don't like being led along with sly verbiage and being fed partial truths. It's time to be open and honest. I realize they don't HAVE to, but I'm not a fan of their political approach thus far. December 11, 2013 backer.
I LITERALLY got engaged and then got married since backing the IG campaign.
Is it wrong to just want the truth from the manufacturers?
That is me on reddit.

Is this the very first report of a GH combustion experience?
As far as I know it is the first report. I had if on lvl 5 or max whatever that is through my d20. Things was a beast for the first 5-7 packs then it combusted and kind of went down hill from there. I don't think the sky is falling just alpha units stretching their legs. They will figure out the bugs and they will be multi millionaires if they play their cards right. Thing is for sure a game changer in this portable game....even some of the desktop game. Just an opinion.

And those with overly negative comments don't seem to be in possession of the device.

Just a bit of an update for you guys. Its been about a week since I received my Ti Hopper and so far I have experienced no problems whatsoever. I've used my hopper fairly heavily during this period as my almost exclusive method of medicating. So far so good...knock on wood ;).

I saw someone mention that their leather case was missing with their Ti order and just wanted to say the same thing happened to me. Luckily I emailed the Hopper crew and although it took a few days for a response they took care of me and will be shipping me one soon. I figure since these are some of the first Ti Hoppers to go out that someone on the assembly line simply made a mistake as they had mostly only been shipping SS Hoppers prior, which does not come with one. They had probably been in a habit doing one thing and a simple mistake was made.

Anyways I'll check back with a update soon. (I try to avoid this thread as it has become quite a mess)

Not the first time i've heard of a combustion incident and that is indicative of the "Heater Fault" Just so people don't have to look back I'lll briefly restate their are two know errors that have been addressed and are limited to specific batches 1. Heat sensor 2. Collar overheat

The red/light flashing is indicating the heater is re-cycling because it has exceeded its heat tolerance. This is designed to protect the heater if it exceeds heat threshold. In this failure, the sensor for this fails. What happens is since the overheat sensor malfunctions it allows the heater to exceed its heat threshold resulting in possible combustion and in any case, since the sensor isn't shutting the heater down and allowing it to run full power it eventually just "fries" itself (no you are not inhaling melting anything don't panic, I just was looking for away to avoid saying "the heater finally stops working altogether because it gets stuck in the protect me from overheating shut off eg flashing red/blue light stage.

And those with overly negative comments don't seem to be in possession of the device.

And have you notice that even people who have problems still have nice things to say about the device? I still have nice things to say about the Firefly even though I had to return it twice and it still combusts every now and again if someone doesn't know how to use it and it cost twice as much. My friends call the Firefly "the Saab" because when its running its amazing and we call the GH the BMW because its super solid and even if its broken it still drives better than most cars (referencing how it turns out during our "8 Stoner Trip" whoever coined that term, THANK YOU!!! my GH had the collar defect the entire time and we used the shit out of it. FYI the collar problem and the heat sensor issues are actually unrelated and affect different batches, example even though I had the bad collar, my heater was fine so when Matt andTrevor VOLUNTARILY replaced it (I asked them if I can keep and see if I can get it to finally break) they actually only replaced the backend so in case I haven't mentioned that part of this (occupational hazard of using a GH is forgetting) in MY case with the collar, we only replaced the backend because the heater and the rest of the unit were in perfect condition (thats why I was there, they wanted to just inspect the unit after a week of abuse :-). In every other case they are shipping all new units in the case of either failure.

And to pre-empt what I know is coming GO TEAM GRASSHOPPER/IM A FAN BOY/I MUST WORK FOR THEM/I DONT KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT/MATT AND TREVOR ARE DEFINITELY LIARS AND THIEVES/ I ALSO AM A LIAR AND SOMEHOW ALSO MANAGED TO STEAL FROM YOU/ ETC.

Now that I just turned myself in as having zero credibility can we skip the next 10 posts about how I have no credibility and stick to these errors, since if people are concerned about them I did get to talk to the manufacturers in person about it so I don't have to speculate, I can just tell you whats happening. #IgnoranceBreedsFear #KnowledgeSpreadsCalm

EDIT: @Grimkrum "It's because once you try it, it's hard to be pissed!" #TRUTHTALK

@onigiri1692 Nice, Glad you're liking yours! Isn't it hard to get people to believe it until they've tried it? Question to both of you (and I guess all GH owners) what usage method have you gravitated to? Also @Grimkrum I'm willing to bet it was your SS was the one with the temp sensor error and I bet the serial number is in the 900's AMIRITE????? :)

1.) Is there any way we can tone down the posts about people's posting styles?

2). Since when is discussion of the warranty LESS relevant than GH enema posts?

1) Yes. You can report the posts and refrain from posting about it yourself.

2) Most if not all of the enema posts are deleted now. A discussion about how warranties work is not relevant, but the nature of the GH warranty is.

I just moved 17 posts about warranties into the Lounge. This will probably make the thread a little choppy in here but it should be an improvement.
