Underdog Log Vapes

Well, my dog has been sitting at my house since yesterday afternoon. I will be back home from the music festival I have been at. Have been combusting all weekend since I didn't have any portable with enough battery life to go through a half oz of bud without a recharge. Can't wait to get home and have myself some nice rips. I know the vapr is pretty easy to use, but anyone have any tips for a newbie?

Play with your grind, pack, and draw. Have fun, new puppies are awesome! Just watch out for puppy breath

is a fine grind best like in a lot of other vapes? I use a cheapo acrylic grinder since it always seemed to pulverize my bud perdeperfperfectly for the volcano and launch box. do you loosely pack it? and wjll the vape need time to reheat after taking a huge rip?
I loosely pack my stems but I still play with my grind daily, for different experiences. Medium fine grind works great. Whole buds taste great and you can break them up as you go. You'll find what works best for you. I don't think it needs much time but maybe a little.

Hey guys, got home around 10:45 pm and opened the box from UD. Everything was superbly packaged and included several notes, instructions, and stickers from Underdog. I got everything expected (which is a lot of cool little items) plus a neat unexpanded bottle for herb storage since i entered the coupon code. My log is absolutely gorgeous. It has more voids in the wood than I was expecting, but it seams pretty sweet with them. I rubbed it with some butter and plugged it it.

I only tried the vape through a little bong so far. I tried the GonG first and took one mediocre rip, and decided to do some trial and error later. So i packed the NonG with literally the smallest amount of weed I have ever put into any smoking device or vape. I stuck it in my bong and started pulling slowly. After pulling for a couple seconds it was INSTANTLY milked like hell. I killed the whole pack in one rip and did three more. Twently minutes later and I am nice and baked. Overall I used barely any weed but I am feeling it like crazy, this vape is a damn miracle!

EDIT: one thing i did notice is that the bottom stainless steel portion of my nylon stem does not have the "crimp" like my NonG, Oh Well. Also wish mmy glass straight stem was cut straight on the ends so i could stand it up

Underdog should also have an option to buy just a log without the kit for a somewhat reduced price. Would be nice to save a little cash in the future without accumulating un-needed acccessories and numerous power supplies

No, I got the big leaf maple hourglass. I was too impatient to wait very long since i was without a desktop, but since I have an underdog now I think my next one will be a custom UD with some nice walnut or some sort of spalted wood

I Love the Zap myrtle 'Dog that's on the available vape section and can't believe it hasn't sold yet. If only my bank account was a bit healthier it would be mine.

@jschubert29 that Big leaf maple hourglass is one beautiful piece too, one cool thing is custom dog or not they are all each unique and beautiful one of a kind vapes.

The myrtle one was the next option for me besides the one I got. It seems like people might be more into the skinny log vapes since that is primarily what Dave is producing atm. I could buy it now, but I know I really shouldn't. I see how collecting these things can get addicting! I think I would be better served to buy things like a vvps and more stems/water tools than to buy another underdog unfortunately. Like I said in my previous post, Dave should sell just the log without the whole kit as an option for those who already have the accessories

Is 'zap myrtle' the actual wood? I know myrtle is but the zap part reminds me of 'aromazap'.

Don't know but I love the grain and hue of the wood along with the shape of that vape. (can't find zap myrtle as a wood species listed anywhere so your guess is as good as mine.)

EDIT; having a few extra power supplies isn't a bad thing since they are the main part of the ud set-up that really will give you any problems that I can see, I have a vvps but rarely use it, the wall warts are perfect for my use.

Hey jschubert29! Welcome to the pack! :) Glad you're enjoying your new pup.

Yes, we've started making the stainless steel stem tips without the crimp, so that people can adjust the screen placement. We've still got a bunch of the old crimped style ones, so it'll be a mixed bag for a little while. If anyone wants to specifically order one or the other (while we've still got stock on the crimp kind) just let me know!

Also, regarding the cut of the glass stems-- I cut and polish these by hand, but even the factory cuts on the glass we receive isn't very even. Glass is an interesting beast, that's for sure. ;)

We do offer repeat customers the option to buy additional vapes sans kit. It's just not available through the website to keep things simple. If you're interested in another vape and want a discount to get it without the kit, just send me a message.

Yes, that Zap stands for AromaZap. We got this Myrtle wood from Zapman (@Rick) himself. :D

Quick question. I ordered the flamed tattoo VVPS from amazon. This is what i ordered....

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003EGYRP6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01

But this is what they sent me....

http://www.amazon.com/Tekpower-Linear-TP1502D-Digital-Display/dp/B00MMOC9N8

Can i still use it? There is a knob for current adjust too, but when i turn it nothing happens... But i havent hooked the dog up to it yet, so maybe it doesnt show current until something is hooked up to it??

Just wondering if i should keep it or send it for an exchange. If it works with the UD id be happy... As its all black LOL

Did you flip the switch to amps when you adjusted the current? It should work great with the ud.

Yes. I tried putting the switch on the "A" and tried adjusting but the numbers stayed at zero. When its set to "V" and i adjust the current knob the number stays at the voltage its set to, until i turn the current knob all the way down.. then the voltage goes down as well.

But again i have not tried it hooked up to the UD yet... SO im not sure if it needs something hooked up to read current ?

If i can use it with my Dog, where do i set the current to? (assuming once i hook the vape to the VVPS the current becomes readable)

I like to go between 12-12.4 mostly but on occasion will creep up around 12.8 just try to stay under 13 for extended periods and never go over 14.

Yessir. I planned to start the voltage around 12.7 on my test run once im sure its safe LOL... I like a little higher temps but ill keep her under 14 for sure and if i do go over 13 at all it will just be for a few bubbler hits and back down to 12.7 or so.... if i find that voltage/temp works well.

But what about current?

I'd recommend just using it in constant voltage mode; disregard the current adjust.

Sorry fellas.... Its confusing for me.

So i hooked up my doggie..... But even in voltage mode i have to set the current knob in order for it to get up to 12v. I slowly turned each knob until i reached 12.7v And when i turn it to "A" mode it now reads .63 amps (i assume a is for amps anyways)

Is this safe to run the dog like this and is that enough "A" ??

Just trying to play it safe as i dont want to overheat it or short something out inside... I appreciate all the advice and info!!

If it were me I'd turn the voltage all the way down, then turn the current knob all the way up, then adjust the voltage up from there. With the current knob on full @ 12.7v you should still be at .63a. Ohms law ... current = voltage/resistance. Keeping it where you have it now will be fine too, though, if you prefer it.

Pretty sure you can just turn the amps all the way up.
Edit: keep that voltage under 14!

You can definitely still use it and it's a (at face value) nicer model than the one you actually ordered.

One thing to note, I think the instructions on that model say to turn the power off before switching from CV and CA modes but realistically you'll probably always want to be CV for the voltage display anyways.

As far as CV/CA goes I can understand the confusion but fortunately there's nothing really to it. You'll want to set the CA to max so that it's not limited in it's ability to draw the needed current and you'll make all your adjustments with voltage. CA is only really used (in simple terms) when you need to limit current to a certain level so as to not overdrive certain types of components and circuits. Doesn't apply to UDs as they need to and always do draw their max current and no more. In the case an average, normal model UD (not mini, not Econo-Dog, etc) that's about .5a to .7a at 12.x volts depending on the particular Pup.

Hope that's helpful and not more confusing?

@MileHighLife - you nailed it with your response (missed it before typing mine) so kudos.

Hello everyone,

My shipping shows that my UD will be arriving tomorrow.....yippee! I also am looking for a VVPS and came across this and was wondering if anyone else has used it.

http://www.amazon.com/0-32V-Adjusta...=UTF8&qid=1438145942&sr=1-1&keywords=CPS-3205

The extra capacity is a nice extra for any potential future toys.....but my main primary use right now would be to use it for the UD and I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on this unit .......or if there is something that I'm missing that would cause an issue with the UD?
