First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
What size C-clips do you guys use to keep the basket in place?

Really need to get this issue fixed asap, as baskets full of goodies regularly dropping into the bong water is really pissing me off now! It's the only thing I dislike about this amazing vape...

I usually use my index finger or thumb and expand the basket from the bottom. I use something with a flat end, then after I insert the basket, I push it up and as the end of the Gong or stem narrows the basket settles in place.

If its popping out while youre stirring you might want to perfect your hand technique. It used to happen to me.lol....

Speaking of basket screens falling out, it finally happened to me. Twice. Thanks to posts here I know that I just need to expand the screen to fix the issue.. but that's not why I'm posting.

Me being lazy, I left the two screens in my GB-187 for the night, thinking I'll deal with it the next day. Switched to one of my Joda carbed GonGs and was surprised that with the two screens in the perc I was getting a hell of a lot more bubbles and stacking.

Taste suffered a bit, but I decided to turn up the dial and go for larger hits. The screens bouncing around in the perc seemed to help with the harshness of the higher heat. Anybody else experience this? In other words, does anyone purposely add aggregates to their bubblers?

So I had my first go with the nano aaaaaand I accidentally combusted lol.

It's gonna take me a few times to get the hang of it. I pre-heated it at 7 for 30 min, I like my body highs. First hit charred the end of the bud. I had the screen just above the silicone protector on my GonG. Next time I'm gonna pre-heat at 5/5.5 then kick it up to 6.5 or 7 when I use it, also I clearly have to push the screen back farther.

No worries, this is part of the fun for me figuring out that sweet spot.

What I've found out some bud needs higher temp wise and some need the heat a little lower. I go from 6 to 6.5 with my temp gage. There have been times that I go under 6.

Far as GonGs are concerned doesn't Epic have the glass screen GonGs? That would eliminate the problem of a basket dropping with your bud in the water.

EDIT
Yes Epic has fixed glass screen GonGs I just checked. the dreaded "out of stock"

I don't use any clips with the basket screens with Joda or stock glass, I only use the clips with my Ed's stems.

I just rediscovered my sweetspot. 30 minute warmup, Small load, medium tamp, higher up, a bump above 6.5, D020D, mouth pull to prime while inhaling exhaling out the nose, when mouth is full, lung pull and BING! BING!

Large clouds

LOL, but why wait 30 minutes for a warmup?!?
My Nano NEVER gets turned off, I waste zero time and it is ready on demand.

Personally, and everyone is different, but I hate diffusion for flowers! For the life of me I cannot understand at all why people like the D020 and other matrix perks for flowers.... I hate it, and would never intentionally add more diffusion. Oils are a totally different story, but for herb I say no thank you.

Hahaha, I've accidentally combusted once. Like, the entire time before that though, I was getting such dense vapor I was constantly worried "uh-oh am I combusting? i'm a little worried this might be smoke" flip-floopy uncertain stuff. when i actually finally combusted it was like "OH GODDAMN YEAH COUGH THAT'S COUGH COUGH SMOKE HURL"

well, i didn't actually hurl, but that was not pleasant and there was NO question about what happened, haha.

Under 6? 90% of the time I go under 6 and nothing happens. Very very light terpenes vape (taste).

Honestly (especially for you new folk with high tolerance) You will want to stay around the 7 range, maybe 7.5. 8 is where combustion starts to be possible on a heat drenched piece. 7 seems perfect for most cases.

Mind you, if I'm using the stem (I almost never do), then yeah I can see it going down to even a 5 at times.

I only really have the d020 right now. Which would you get for herbs? link me, I need to find one.

I think they all run a little differently as far as numbers go... maybe due to the density of the different woods, or perhaps (probably) the dials have some tolerances to them and are all vary very slightly :hmm:

My usual spot is 6.5. I'll go as low as 6.25 or as high as 6.75 but to be honest this is the only range I use on my unit; usually dependent on the herbs being vaped (some needing a little higher heat to get going). Although I am using it through a 220V - 110V step down, so this could have something to do with it too..? So many variables in play I think.

My nano will badly char the top of the load (tamped 1/2 inch below the rim of the gong) at level 7 and combust at 7.5, so really you have to play with it a bit to find that sweet spot for your own nano... but when you do find it boy will you know :D

I don't feel as though that dark dark color is combustion, though. NEAR combustion, because in my experiences combustion ruins the whole bowl, as it ignites. Definitely different than just a little char.

I've used several different units and have been an owner since this model first came out, and I've never combusted with it, even going to 8-8.5. I'm not saying yours hasn't, but just rest assured that black ABV doesn't represent combustion.

I don't think the wood plays much of a part in determining the temp with this vape, but they can certainly vary at the same temp setting, one unit to another. My newer unit runs hotter than my old one.

Guess mine just runs hot then

To be sure there is a world of difference between dark ABV and a combusted load, and no mistaking one for the other at that - who knows... maybe I didn't tamp the load enough and it made contact with the heater port(??), I haven't gone back to check ;)
Bottom line is that one persons numbers on the dial doesn't always give the same results on another unit I guess...

Does your dial stop exactly at 0 and 10, or is it off slightly?

I've made contact with the heater port plenty of times, the only thing it does is add a more roasted flavor..... How deep was the screen sitting? I find optimal results with around 0.1g at a depth of 15mm and my temps between 6.75 and 7.25 depending on mood (I go up to 7.5 for cloud chasing with friends)

The D020 is great for a smaller portable like a SOLO.
D022 for the NANO.
the FC UFO is good às well..
everyone likes something different.
I have some other set ups I like as well?

In all fairness I come from a position of a medical consumer.

My level is 6 òr loweŕ.

I'm still an e-nano noob. A couple of weeks ago I set temp close to 8 by accident and if it wasn't combustion I tasted (I thought it was but no ash, just balck avb and an unpleasant flavor), it was too close to it for me.

I pushed the screen a little further away from the heat than the standard setting, started again at 6, eventually edged it up to 6.350 (hows that for precision ;)) and have had nothing but enjoyable experiences since. But I don't see myself taking it beyond 6.5 again. Cause the nano-nator packs one helluva wallop!

At the same time I'm not a single bit averse to using the nano at temps in the 5s if all I want is a nice mello "hello, it's me! How are you today?" kind of buzz. Don't mind a bit if there's not a cloud attached to the gentle greeting.

After reading through some more of the "How old is the fc community" thread, I'm feeling a little hippi-ish, so
:peace: and

I've noticed that if you have a higher tolerance, you need to go higher on the heat to get the boom feeling combustion gives you. Once you are more accustomed to vaping, and your tolerance goes down a bit, you will likely notice you enjoy 6-6.5. Until then, though, 7s and 8s are fine!

Thank you all for your patience and support while we(I) work tirelessly to catch up and ship out. If your order shipped after 4 business days (M-F) or more from the day of ordering please PM me or email me at customerservice@epicvape.com so I can make sure I have refunded your recent shipping charges. I have already begun refunding customers but don't want to leave anybody out. We are taking full responsibility for the delays and want to make sure our customers are being taken care of in the interim. *Massdrop customers have been contacted by MD to go over delayed shipping and procedures.

RMA's will be accepted starting Thursday July 30th. If you are still waiting on instructions or a shipping label please note all RMA requests/responses have been delayed until Thursday July 30th.

"In Stock" - Just a quick clarification for the few that mentioned this or had concerns.
Accessories - All gongs, stems, cords, picks, screens, apparel, and stickers are listed in stock and ready to go. In the event we find complaints regarding an item we check the batch to see if there is anything defective that may have been missed. We pull all products that are found defective immediately. This has recently happened with a batch of glass we originally thought was ready to ship, for this I am very sorry! We are about a week+/- out from everything being back to normal and in stock.

E-Nanos - We pride ourselves on this product and because of this we pull many units last minute for even the slightest flaws even if we don't think the average customer would notice. We take our time to ensure you are getting a beautiful unit. We also have been experiencing an unprecedented amount of orders which we are very thankful for. (A lot of that is in thanks to this forum for being such a knowledgeable and welcoming community.) That being said it is why we have a 2-3 business day processing time. This is to ensure we can send the unit out as promised within a reasonable time frame. Many times units are ready to ship and go out within one day. The shipping times displayed on our site during checkout are set by USPS and refer to their processing/shipping times. Originally it was required to accept the shipping policy prior to checking out so that customers could be made aware before their purchase. We may require this again now that I see how this is adversely affecting our customers.
Thank you again for letting me interrupt the normal flow of this thread, I'll go back to orders now ;)
Have an Epic day!
Nadia
