Do you hoard your best weed?

Or do you vape it all up? :D

What I have done for the past several years is when I get a fantastic strain I will vape it for a few days and then put it away for a week or so, put it away for another week, etc until the taste develops into something fantastic, then try to vape it up. I realized I have some herb in my collection that is over a year old and surely it is losing strength, but it seems to still be just as potent as anything on the market today. So I have been going through and trying to vape all my favorite old weed, everything older than 6 months.

I have one strain right now though called wreckage, and it is so fantastic I can't stop vaping it for too long. Taste and effect. Too bad I didn't get more. It says sativa but it has round compact dense nuggets, and not much in the way of a head high, mainly analgesic activity and help for stress for sure. I labeled it I/S.

But going forward I am going to avoid holding onto any herb for longer than 6 months, surely no herb I get gets any better after that long. I note the effect and taste of all the strains in a hard bound diary I got on clearance. That way when I am looking for a particular effect for a particular need, I can select a good strain.

Yes i hoard ... if i get another strain before the good one runs out ... it goes in for a cure. Still got some amnesia and nebula from xmas time. Starting to smell real nice with a 6 month cure. Normally save these for birthdays xmas and special occasions etc.

I think 2 - 6 month cure is ideal ... after 6 months i think it can start to degrade. It all depends how your storing it.

This question is funny as heck .... I thought not many people do this.

I hoard like crazy, even if it's a tiny nugget.

I have stuff that is 5 years old sitting in my storage unit. I'll probably never use it, but, yeah.

Now that times are hard for me, I am working my way back and finishing most of my saved tiny nugs. I am at about 6 month old stuff right now...at least it's definitely dry :freak:

Not only have I begun hording, but thanks to advice from fellow FC member, I am now storing for 2 months using Boveda and hygrometers at 62% humidity in glass jars for "final cure" of my best bud . Work in progress. At the same time, I'm working on slowing building my "stash" to a 1/4 lb at all times. So the short answer is, yes, I horde.

I have 12 gallon jars in the herb cellar now with boveda 62% packs . Close to a pound of the best stuff I have ever grown.

I think of hoarding as collecting stuff you will never use where this is more like prepping. Some new stuff comes in and some cured stuff goes out on a regular rotation to prevent it from going bad.

It will all get used in the end though so no hoarding really. :)

High, My name is Hashtag & I'm addicted to hoarding fine Cannabis.

I've got strains that are up to 2+ years old, I've got 1 large and 1 Small Mason Jar filled with kief that is going on 26 months now.

I truly believe in a 90 day cure to ensure I get the maximum effect from my flowers. (Medicinally)

After 90 days the process of Polymerization* is most likely complete, which creates a very rounded evenly dispersed effect, and the taste morphs as well, so enjoyable.

a chemical reaction in which two or more small molecules combine to form larger molecules that contain repeating structural units of the original molecules.

Back on topic;

I love hoarding my most elite strains, I typically use a rotation system, where I use one strain exclusively for 2-3 days, then switch to something different.

Some of the most epic strains I've grown, I'll indulge night after night until I've got about a half oz left(Always the biggest, frostiest flowers are saved for last)

Then it goes to the back of the safe, for long term hoarding.

When I finally get back to a certain strain from 6+Months ago, man.... I get a big ole smile on my face, recalling the joys it brought me.

Great Topic/Thread OP!

i don't know about "hoard" but I do "store" what I can fit in a classic JyARz when i get really really good bud. Since I live in black market land I Do store away some of the tastier and/or more potent buds to have on hand.

Right now I have six full classic jyarz( around an 1/8th oz in each)and two sathmo jyarz(around a 1/4 oz in each) that I've set aside with a different strain in each. Never know when it'll go dry here so it's always nice to have some of your best on hand.

Funny timing lol...

On Monday I came across a large jar of ISS (by ISM) in my cold storage tagged fall of 2009. The jar was 7/8 full and I always proper dry/cure before permanent or long term storage (not vac sealed back then). Well, right off the bat I knew it wouldnt be mind blowing nor tasty like it was in its day, and due to the 'browning' I suspected it would be scrap, however.... being someone to not waste anything cannabis (except duff *not my thing), I loaded up a stem and vaped away. It certainly was not tasteful, yet it also wasnt disgusting, and its 'profile' was definitely no longer as by the end of my 12 min sesh.... I zonked out !! Totally the opposite reaction back in its day.

I figured I'd try it again at a not so late in the day sitting, and BAMM it zonked me again... like within 10 minutes of the session. So I said fine, I'll keep it for those insomnia or go to bed times I guess

Being the flavour snob I am, I decided to mix it 50/50 with Belladonna last night to balance out the flavour issue and round out the effect. I'm happy to report that I now have an acceptable decent tasting salad that's perfect for ending my day(s) ;)

I still prefer 3-6 months final cure for what 'I' consider a perfect cure for taste and maturity for what I enjoy

Edited to add: I have keif from dry icing trim that is over 2 year old in cvaults with 52% humipacks. I usually break into them to make lower grade oils for my combustion friends who like to smear papers, and being the hash head i always was I will sometimes press it with heat and break it up to either add to a vape load of ground bud or give in to my want of an occasional spliff and smiles of old memories :uhoh::D

@Hashtag46&2 that's funny.

Me too. I have kief from almost 2 years old. Not too sure what to do with it. I like to smoke it just as it is but vaping it seems difficult. Possibly vape it in the same chamber used for oils?
Hehe... Yeah brother!!

It has morphed into this spicy, burnt rubber undertone, that knocks me unconscious...

I typically mix it with fresh ground flowers in the Vape.

If your kief is more melty, yes, use the oil chambers or simply make a "Green Screen" of herb and place your kief on top, it will melt into the flowers making for a super long session.

This is how I Vape my FullMelt Bubble...such an amazing Flavor, and I swear I get at least 20 pulls depending on how much hash I add.

My herb chamber is fairly large and deep doing a screen of weed would be too much plus kief lol. I never fill the whole bottom with herb when I vape. Guess I'll try to the oil chamber or if a few friends come over then I have enough people to add kief for.

I usually have several strains I use and rotate throughout the week. I buy a little of this and a little of that. If it's really wonderful I will go right back the next day, before it's sold out and get more. Yes I will try to stretch it by just using a little of the very best that I have. I try to keep it around as long as possible. Often if you get the same strain further down the line it will be slightly different quality wise.

Don't get me wrong I'm in the land of plenty most everything I get is quality, just some knocks your socks off and some is just really good.

I was raised in a different time and place when hoarding meant your roach jar for those scarce times that drove home the truth of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers' philosophy.

Back then, hoarding was trying to not pee out the last THC in one's system; while waiting till the next 'what-it-is' that Fat Freddy could find.

I usually save the top shelf for when I need a quicker session and leave the mids for when I have more time. Or I'll save the good stuff for when my back is totally jacked. Scored on some 28% thc Kashmir yesterday, so my back's gonna thank me.

no. I rarely get anything so special it's worth hoarding. most of what I buy I find pretty similar, despite being different strains. some small differences(like amnesia having a specific smell/taste), bot not major. the differences are bigger between weed and hashes from different rfegions(I especially like nepalese hash), also outdoor is clearly different. but moroccon and nepalese hashes are widely available, so don't have to hoard those. my own harvest could be worth hoarding, but I store it in mason jars, perfect for curing+storing the yield of 1 plant, but by the time the bottom comes in sight the last bit is over dry and not as tasty as fresh.

i have a few different genetics. some of the bud is over 2 years old. it's still nice and fresh in ball jars with boniva packs. if it's really special, i'll nurse it for awhile. vaping that last bowl is always a sad thing.

i still have fond memories of special genetics from the old days. mexico used to grow some lovely sativas. you just had to have a good connection to grab some of it and then horde it for when there were women around. :)

although i'm not looking forward to buying weed, i am curious about all the genetics the dispensaries are selling. i've traded some of mine for some of others genetics and it's been good but not notable.

i'm a medical pot card holder and i keep going to local med cannabis websites and window shopping. there is occasionally a little drool involved. i still have enough pot to last me awhile and i keep talking myself out of spending a few bucks to buy a gram of this and a gram of that. bills or new pot...bills or new pot. :)

the idea of jumping into an uber and going to the store for some hash makes me smile.
