The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

i get vaked and hit vongs is it so wrong?
No, haven't mastered the whip but should be fun to experiment. My guess would be to preheat on fan 3, load bowl, wait a couple of minutes, place fan on 1 and hit the whip.

How do you do it?
You could use the fan but if you wont less air to vapor ratio try hitting with out fan . But fan is fun if your lazy lol

How long does an elbow last?
I don't use whips or bags any more but i use to get 3 good thick bags from an elbow now this depends on the herb. But 95% of the time it was that. The whip depends on your draw speed and size of hits so hard to answer that. I just use my bong with the eq and out of an elbow pack I easily will get 5 to 10 big bong rips that will get you pretty medicated. It all depends on your temps.
For me I start at 195 finish 215 220 degrees c. Keep in mind the elbow will be couple degrees cooler than a cyclone pack as it is a bit further from the heatcore.

I know this question will be annoying, I am at page 137 in the EQ archives. I realize the advantages of elbow packing, but the packed elbow screen invariably drops into the cyclone bowl. Every time.

Do I need to put some resin on it to keep it from dropping? Or deform it in some way?

The herbs stay nicely packed in the elbow screen, but the elbow screen with the packed herbs just flop into the cyclone bowl before I can attempt a draw. I have tried using the replacement screen, but same result.

Gravity is working against me.

are yo saying the elbow screen its self is falling out I have never had that happen. have you got any resin build up in the elbow. I did cyclone packs before I started elbow packs so I had a bit of resin in there but when clean all my glass and there isn't resin and it fits snug. Maybe try pushing the out rim of the elbow to give it a little bit more diameter.

Skeena's right in his advice. Put elbow screen between thumb and pointer finger, circular rim flat against thumb & pointer finger on opposite end of screen. Then press a bit and the screen will slightly widen enough to make a nice snug fit.

Resin does work eventually, but issue returns when you clean your gear.

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Thanks for the elbow screen tip y'all. Everybody can take the credit. Just fixed a few of mine a few seconds ago. Once I realized the bulb end did the work of keeping the pack in, everything else made sense.

Any tips for fitting or bending screens to fit the top of the adapter like say an SSV wand? I was able to form a tube shaped screen out of a larger flat 1 inch one with some tweezers. Have yet to try it. But might be a solution for other FC-ers who want to load larger amounts on the other side of the elbow screen.

Also fond of my dome screen trick with the dDave. Essentially it's a 1 inch screen formed into a dome using tweezers and the blunt end of my EQ stir tool. Then I place a smaller screen that is slightly domed inside the larger one to push outward. After some figiting and finger work, I can place the screen just below where the elbow screen would set inside the dDave adapter when being used. It's nice having a crumb catcher, in case the elbow screen does forget to stay in.

BTW had anybody tried the VapeXhale screens in the EQ?

This was mentioned earlier in this thread but I thought I'd post a link to the tubing I use for the EQ.

This tubing has worked pretty well so far and less stiff than the stock whip. I got mine in black to hide any future discoloration. As an added bonus, the inside diameter of this tubing fits well with the EQ's stock glass pieces.

I just ordered one of these off of eBay. Currently using a silicone hose that's the same specs as the stock hose, but I noticed it might be slightly too small to provide an air-tight seal with my SSV wand. I noticed a couple of times when I was cleaning it, I'd blow through the mouthpiece and feel air coming out of the top of the wand where the tube is inserted (along with the bottom of the wand, where the air is supposed to go through).

The official website's shipping options are really expensive though. I live a couple of hours from 7th Floor, but their cheapest shipping option is $12 for me -- even for just the 3' hose. Really ridiculous compared to going with free shipping elsewhere.

If it's the same material as the link I posted and the same SSV wand I did own, that combo didn't work out well for me. I find that tubing and the stock elbow worked the best.

The problem with the SSV tubing and the wand is that the tubing is so flexible. If you insert it into the top of the wand, it does make a better seal but crimps easily as the weight of the tubing is greater than the tensile strength of the tubing.

Maybe you can get it work but personally I didn't think it was the best solution for the wand. I broke my wand and didn't see any need to replace it.

Hi guys newbie member here so be gentle.

Got myself a pre owned EQ online last week and have been enjoying testing it all out to see what works and what doesn't bit of trial and error. Got hold of the bags and the VXH Ez load bowls to fit into the elbow joint, pre heat to 200c last night and used it on fan speed one but only got very whispy vapour?

I fully expected to have a big bag full of vapours to sample but it was really thin, any ideas why? I wanted to use the ELB ideally as I brought them now and favour the balloon over the whip (although my girl prefers the whip) but the density isn't there.

Also preheated it for a good ten mins with the fan on one. Got the original cyclone bowl and thought it might be because it's to far from the heat source?

Any advice would be great, in need of it as I was a little disappointed last night :(

I think you might be onto your problem being the distance from the heater. Try 237C for thicker clouds.

I'd recommend buying a smaller adapter to put on the heater, and also fine grinds and dense packs.

Thanks molten i do think it's the way it's further from the heating element and i'm still very much experimenting trying to find what's what with this machine. First we tried the whip which worked well enough but i wanted to have a go at the balloon's so brought a set of those with a packed elbow and it didn't have the density i was looking for, turned it up to 200c in the end and still wasn't very dense.

So a higher temp or a closer cyclone bowl are needed, i'll get a bowl sometime soon. Where do you get these from? heard of the DD bowl on here before???

the DD bowl is a more standard 18mm fem-fem adaptor, can get from ebay or elsewhere. having just used him for other stuff, i would also consider oregonglassblower on here, I am sure he could knock up a bang on one for the community to take screen etc

i know you say you are preheating but are you also allowing the herb to heat for a few? also strain of herb can make a massive difference in terms of vapour quality/density. what is your abv like? is it browning evenly or spotting?

more data needed

Hi mate

I've seen these around on eBay a few times as I've already brought a few bits of glass for the unit already, it was pre owned and didn't come with everything needed to use it on the balloon settings (didn't have a balloon at all) so I brought those in.

Yes I'm preheating the whole thing for around ten to fifteen mins on fan speed one, turning that off and placing in the ez bowl and reattaching, wait a few mins and then turn the fan onto either one or two or three depending on how quick I want it to inflate, still experimineting right now.

I've found that too is the buds less resinous or older it make a difference even with the whip. Abv is more spotted and going a nice tan colour. Think it needs more heat around 230c or higher due to the tallness of the original cyclone bowl.

lazylathe

Almost there...
@anasrzi

My tech with bags is this:
Set EQ to 195 C and allow to beat up for a good 15 minutes, no fan on.
Grind up your bud and use the elbow pack method. Fill an EQ mesh basket and place in the elbow adapter that fits inside the cyclone bowl.
Place on EQ to pre heat for 5 minutes, no fan just attach the bag and wait.
After 5 minutes turn on to fan 2 or 3 to fill the bag.
You should get a nice bag of amazing vapor!
The bud in the bowl should be spent after a bowl or two, you can also empty the bowl and crush the bus and reload and see what the next bag tastes like.

I do not use fan speed 1 for anything as it is just too slow to force vapor through the bud. It may work better if it was a very light and fluffy pack.

This is how i use my EQ and it is very consistent!

Another way unused to use it was to place bud between two screens in the cyclone bowl. Worked really well but it is a pain to reload....

The EQ seems to excel with the elbow pack!
