Art Bell Returns

"Wanna take a ride?" "Turn your radio off please . . ."

If these words sound familiar to you I have great news . . . Art Bell is coming back!!!

It looks like Art's "non-compete" clause with Sirrus XM has finally expired and he is returning to the air waves. I started listening to Coast back in the late 80's when I found him by accident one night scanning the dial. I was having trouble sleeping and his friendly voice in the night was soothing and relaxing and helped me feel like I wasn't alone.

He says he is coming back due to the sad shape Coast to Coast is in now. It has been ruined by George Noory and Clear Channel.

One thing I love about Art's show are the unscreened calls. Unscreened calls are simply the best because you never know what you are going to get.

The new show will be called "Midnight in the Desert" and will be broadcast Mon-Fri @9PM Pacific time on the Dark Matter Digital Network on TuneIn so you can listen for free on your computer, phone, or Internet radio. Its a 3 hour show. The show will also be carried on some regular radio stations, they are already starting to sign up. First show is July, 20th although there will be a test show with open lines on July 19th to test bandwidth, listener load etc.

In the US the number is 1–952-CALL ART, (952-225-5278), in London 203-807-0703. Art will have 2 Skype computers running, one for North America (US/Canada/Mexico) and one for International callers.

$5/month gets you access to the archives, supports Art, and gives you access to the "Wormhole" to message Art live during the show . . .

Broadcasting from the high desert, the kingdom of Nye, Pahrump Nevada . . .

I love Art Bell. He hasn't been around in a long time. I can't remember why he was taken off the airwaves? I really like the TuneIn Radio app. More and more great online networks. I agree nothing is better than unscreened callers, a lot of colorful personalities calling in. Thanks for letting us know.

He got in a major disagreement with Sirrus XM over broadcast quality and streaming issues. He was doing his show from Manila IIRC. Not sure why he left there it will be interesting to see if his wife and daughter came with him or if they stayed there.

I remember when Art first accepted a couple million dollars for Coast, giving up some control, and thought it would be the beginning of the end and it was.

OK, the test show is on for TONIGHT at 9PM Pacific time. It will be a 2 hour test with worldwide unscreened open lines and no guest. I don't plan to call in but you never know . . .

Follow this link for a nice interview with Art from yesterday. He goes into what happened with Sirius XM and speaks about what the new show is going to be like. It appears his wife and daughter did come with him from the Philippines to live in the high desert of Pahrump.

Tonight's show on Midnight in the Desert with Art Bell brings back an oldie but a goody, Linda Moulton Howe. Ms. Howe has received local, national and international awards, including three regional Emmys, a national Emmy nomination and a Station Peabody award for medical programming. Linda’s documentaries have included A Strange Harvest and Strange Harvests 1993, which explored the worldwide animal mutilation mystery. You can see her bio here: http://artbell.com/linda-moulton-howe/

In other cool news yours truly, yes me, will be moderating the live thread over at Midnight in the Desert forum tonight starting at 9 PM Pacific time . . . :) You can find it here:

The live thread is cool because it auto updates about every 10 seconds. Its kinda like a cross between chat and a regular thread and it will go live a few minutes before the show. People are posting there now as well.

Listen on TuneIn to the Dark Matter Digital Network or here http://darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/

As usual world wide callers will be taken unscreened. You can call Art at 952-225-5278 or Skype to MITD51 for North America including Canada and Mexico or MITD55 for the rest of the world.

Hope to see you there!
