Discontinued Zion vaporizer

I tried that aqua lab bent mouthpiece the other night and its ground joint is a little too tall, so it sits loose in Zion with top part of frost above Zion joint. It's also too wide for my Zion screens, so tried EQ screen. It works but its tricky and I don't know that it offered any cooling really, I was curious about the UFO mouthpiece. I'd rather use a Zion screens than an EQ so hopefully a fresh spare one will fit. Really it'd be great if I could grind down the tip of the stem's joint so it could sit tight in Zion... Oh well

Yep, made in California but they are using the ISO standard for their male joints. They might have the US joints if you order them that way.

Oops. I just called them to ask if they would make a MP with the US standard joint. "We don't make any of the products we sell, we are just a retailer". Well, THAT was a surprise.

Your local glass blower can trim a joint for you. If you have a tile saw you can buy a glass blade and cut your own. If it was with the trouble you could send it to me and I could trim it for you. You guys and your crazy glass set-ups :)

Haha yeah got none of those, or a local blower really, last time sent something to JODA bc of that. We'll see what we do, some day I think trimming would be best, as it is too tapeered and long, though it does work even loose:

Yes @budballer the sale runs to the end of the week. The simple design combined with industry proven power electronics gives us the confidence to also include a lifetime guarantee as a special thanks to FC.

We are delighted that some of the most well respected names on FC are seemingly most impressed with the Zion and even happier that they are all helping to add the finishing touches. We have tirelessly been through many design iterations rapidly adapting the design to the needs of the beta team as detailed in the last 60+ pages. What an exciting thing to watch, the Zion evolve into what it is soon to become.

Are you ready for on-demand desktop quality convection vapor in a fire breathing portable?

Definitely worth taking advantage of! Built in stir multi tool looks great as well

As I continue to procrastinate posting of my initial beach Zioning, heres some crappy photos of Zion running through GB-187 at just 75% power (mine goes to 115% for full perspective), connected using one of @Ratchett's SonGs on the Zion short stem:

Previously when I made my girlfriend hit Ashton, I managed the trigger for her and just made her draw. Yesterday I explained her how to perform the entire procedure on her own and she took a rip...

Oh my! She exhaled so much vapor I thought she was on fire! It was so thick it almost looked like smoke from where I was sitting! And she kept exhaliing and exhaling, like after a good bong rip (and she didn't cough yay!)

I was a bit concerned she might have overdone it a bit, so I pulled the stem out and looked at the bowl, and nope, not even a single black spot, no combustion, it was all just pure vapor.

I know I'm not the best person to listen to when talking about large hits, because I'm usually a laid back sipper. But I can attest that none of my entire portable vapes fleet can produce hits as large as the Zion. It's strong, it got the Watts, it got the unrestricted air flow, it can extract bloody fast, the taste is excellent...

I do have a single complain though: using it too much can skyrocket your tolerance... and when I come back to my other portables sometimes I feel they are so weak... Like my Ascent (even with the o-ring leak fix) only produces small farts of vapor at best... (okay the Ascent is notoriously not a big hitter, but the contrast is really striking now)

Yeah I keep getting people (some regular combusters) super gone using Zion, everyone takes to it pretty easily, just gotta remind to let it preheat long enough when its not heatsoaked. Many times their big cloudy hits (or occasionally mine) make me fear scorching but more often than not its still pretty green since I'm usually only between 50-80% voltage. Great group vape, great solo vape (yeah my tolerance up, but not too far, just so I can get really high with Zion single hits, and still handle myself for sessions too now), great one hitter, great sessioner, did somebody say versatile?!

I feel like a commercial talking about the Zion sometimes because I am so impressed by it people think I am an investor. I wish I had the money to be an investor because using it and watching its development I can't imagine how it couldn't be a success.
Before getting my Zion my favorite Vape was the Lotus, which I still like very much. It is powerful and fast allowing heavy hits almost instantly. The Zion, my Zion Venus, is like a Lotus with no torch. She hits fast and hard allowing amazing extraction and good control. If one wants to take only one hit that is fine, take a hit and put it down. But the BEST hits are 2 and 3 when Venus is a little warmed up and ready. Sipper or lungbuster, all the options are available once you get comfortable with her.
A lifetime warranty and a lower price should be a good draw for FC folks to get in early, but the Vape itself is the BIG incentive. Zion is A LOT of vape at a reasonable price.

Previously when I made my girlfriend hit Ashton...
That could have been the start of a less positive story... :)

I've only had 2 people try Venus, so far. One had no problem getting adequate hits from the first bowl. The other took an evening but was happy (and incredibly buzzed) by the evenings end.

I think folks are gonna love this vape.

:) Hello hello hello . . . right o.k. so you might or might not know that I've not actually had the most easiest of times getting to know my Zion, and I would go as far as to say that it has been rather turbulent so far.

So please accept my apologies for not posting more but I have been trying to get to grips with this more than ample handful of a vaporizer at a rather hectic & stressfull time in my life :uhh:

Hence this post is not really complete and was hurriedly done on my phone, but it is something, at least.

To add just a little bit of background - I have & enjoy an mflb, firewood, cera LL (to a far lesser extent these days) amoung many other vapes at home so I have been slightly surprised by the learning curve I seem to have experienced, especially after hearing from others who were having an apparently much easier time.

I'm just a problem child :mental:

So I'm not sure that I've completely cracked it but I feel I may be getting somewhere near.

I still can't figure out what has been going wrong but this is what I am doing now . . .

I load the stem to the brim, quite finely ground & pack it in but not really tight. Power on about 75% and hit the fire button to give a good 10 seconds warm up.

1st hit: Very light draw for around 20-25 seconds, letting off the fire button for the last few to 5 seconds. This produces a light but visible vapor with a pretty intense and an extremely clean flavor.

We're off to a good start

I check the stem to find light browning limited to one area of the load. I turn the stem 180° and re-insert.

2nd hit: Foregoing the preheat but again drawing in a light & steady style for a similar duration - this time producing more visible vapor & a satisfying throaty feeling. Tasty and good.

I check the stem to find the load well browned from the middle out, with lighter, maybe untouched material still visible around the edge.

Time to dump the stem contents and then vacuum reload ready for the second half . . .

3rd hit: Same technique as previously, but now being more aware of the risk of combustion . . . I can now see the vapor winding it's way through the mouthpiece and I am trying not to be too greedy :brow:

I stop & look at the stem, but surprisingly I can see straight through it, however when I look down into the stem I find that it is thick with fog!

I check the stem load which is now looking all brown at the very least, and some much darker in one area. I turn the stem 180° and drop it back in Johnny to attempt to get everything I possibly can out of this brief yet full session.

4th hit: Still good vapor production and still tasting fine to me but obviously depleted. I get a good strong hit.

Checking the load one final time shows a well spent stem, good extraction, with lots of mostly dark coffee brown avb.

4 good hits = happy daze! :D

-Contrary to popular belief, I find that a finer grind seems to help me.
-Multiple back2back sessions help it get all toasty warm & really cloudy.
-Water is definitely not required & surprisingly I have enjoyed my Zion experience far more without it.
-Johnny is sooooo good to hold! He fits my hand perfectly in multiple positions, and he's daaaaamn solid! Wota hunk!!!

I continue to learn, and I bow to The Zion.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong, unless you are pulling too hard. Try slowing down your draw a little. The behaviour you describe is pretty much what I would expect. At 75% you will finish a load in five or so hits. It could be that it's not your technique that's at fault, it's your expectations.

Looking down the stem is a much more reliable way of detecting vapour because you're looking through 10-12 cm of vapour, but through the side you're looking through only 1.5 cm or so.

@VegNVape I think you being a problem child and being on board as a beta tester is exactly what RBT and the Zion needs and deserve. RBT has said on multiple occasions that he wants the best product out in the market and it takes all types of users. You having a few speed bumps along the way are not always fun but as a beta team it should be expected a bit. Keep up the good work. I'll be joining you sooner rather than later I hear.

@VegNVape : so what is the problem now? From reading your post I got the impression everything is working as expected? I got the same experience excepted my hits are only 5 seconds long, so I need to take 5 times more hits than you to deplete the same load. I don't need to stir though, maybe because I'm drawing more gentle and it reduces the scorching risk?

Could you please try doing exactly the same but taking 5 to 10 seconds max hits and drawing more slowly? Just for science... :)

Thanks man, I appreciate your words & think you are probably right. I guess I should embrace my awkwardness!

I look forward to hearing about your thoughts & experience once <insert name here> arrives & you've had a little time to get to know him/her.

It could be that it's not your technique that's at fault, it's your expectations.
Hmmmm, now that's a very good and interesting point. Well said good sir

Cheers guys

EDIT - Hey @KeroZen - I think I just don't seem to get the results in quite the same way as many of you describe them. Maybe it is just perspective. I will try your test using 5-10 second draws. Just for science, of course ;)
Thanks dude :peace:

Yeah I've done long draws, short little ones, short preheat, long preheat, fast draw, slow draw, fine grind, course grind with dry and moist herbs of varying strains. Honestly they all work...

I have a lot of variance in my use and the Zion can keep up in spades. On occasion I don't get something bc of my weak breath, or sometimes just need more preheat or up voltage for the load. Typically like to start at between 50 and 60% (3 o clock is 50%, when holding with batteries on right side) get 4 hits, stir and raise to 60-75% for 4 more, stir and raise to 80-95% for 4 more, sometimes I even add green on top as the load literally shrinks with each hit, its that efficient passing the hot air through the load.

In the car I can even get by without stirring, I like to break up the load though and move what's on the bottom to the top, closer to the heater (that makes it the bottom actually when I flip it back on the heater). I use the short stem the most, love how you can even pre load it but store it in Zion with lid read to go, nice and compact. Even at home I usually am chilling out with dry hits instead of through water

I can take a quick hit or two in the car while out and about running errands, I can do zonking sessions at home through the bubbler, or a combo of sessioned hits and on demand hits while watching TV alone or with a friend.

Something about the ease of use, the versatility, the signature, the power, the all glass steel and wood, it just serves nearly every vapor need I have. I've got plenty of vapes, many powerful on demand convection, but this is basically all I've been using since I got it (used FF and Lily a couple times, UD once, xmax once) and this is definitely my favorite. It honestly feels more like smoking used to sometimes at high temps, its just so powerful, I was surprised by the effects compared to say FF and Lily (still need to use Elevape again, been a while), it really feels like it tops em imo. It's like the desktop you can use all the time (typically limited my UD use to weekends, just more hassle I dono, also always use it through water only) Zion just makes it so easy to have full power vapor at any temp anytime anywhere...

I'm in...just ordered it.

I have been looking to replace the Solo for a while now. Thought the Grasshopper was going to be the one to do that...maybe it still will...but the thought of having a portable as powerful as my nano is too tempting to pass up.

Welcome to the party! I don't think you will regret it one bit, so happy I had already gotten rid of my Solo (and Air), this is exactly the replacement I had been waiting for, more powerful, more pure, no constant cooking, and vast temp control vs say a Firefly (which had kinda been my Solo substitute in use). And while I do have strong faith in the Hopper, this is more handbuilt natural with amazing battery life, perfect on demand and sessioned.

Part of what has been interesting to me is to see how much Zion takes over the lineup for people. Personally I have only hit another vape a few times since Venus (and Ellie before her) has arrived, and only once at home. And I DO find that I don't always use water with her, where I was using water almost exclusively before.

The lifetime warranty is some quality service...I'm somewhat cashed on expenses for new toys, but this.....certainly makes me want to shift some funds around.

Also need to research it more in general. The on demand hitting is awesome but if it's battery is anything like the Firefly I will ultimately be disappointed.

Love the look though and certainly am keeping an eye out :)

I'm not familiar with the battery in the Firefly but with the Zion I think that I am roughly getting at least 6 and maybe closer to 10 or so bowls per charge - and I'm not even running them flat.

This thing is a portable powerhouse to my mind and of course I can always carry as many extra 18650 batteries as I want for those extended outings . . .

Have any of the other testers got some battery stats to chime in with?

Oh what the @HellsWindStaff, I say quit procrastinating and just get in on the action already :brow:

Thanks! Based on what you and others have said I'm sure I wont regret it. It definitely will be my go to portable if stealth isn't a factor. Might even take over my nano as my daily driver if I can keep my usage with it as efficient...I love the idea of getting the excess cords off my desk.
