I'm liking the idea of a long stem...
Fuck gas and vas....

I was thinking of a stealth mini glass stem... The size of it when sticking out of the air would be About 1 - 1 1/4 cm ...(if you have a stock non plastic tip stem it would basically be cut off where to tube changes diameter.) Then find some black heat guard/silicone to stop lip burning. I'm thinking it would be do able for low temps at least. I'm not a session head when on the go.

Anyway I think that would be dope. I was thinking of trying to make one. Myself but sometimes. I waste alot of money on experiments. Haha.

I love the size of the air with no stem so that was the main idea behind this. I think it would be cool to just be able to pack it, put the stem in the air and then a mflb battery cover of the tip. So pocket lint doesn't get in.

So yeah a short stem, 1 cm would be awesome, would have to trim down a mflb battery cap for it to fit on. And that would be without a heat guard. Not sure what I would with a heat guard... But being able to keep a cap over it would be a must...

Debating getting a long solo stem or asking joda about a long stem blank or something other than drips. The drips are cool but they don't fit my vibe. I was think a color ring around the tip with one or two straight drips going down to a carb.

I think I have a bauhaus mindset when it comes to glass designs. Really wish I could try glass blowing myself and woodwork. Im always coming up with ideas. But have no clue how to manifest them.

So yeah... I've been thinking about that lately. Trying to go as cheap as possible. Probably won't follow through with any of this, haha.

Anyone ever cut a glass stem, or something similar to an air stem. Think its possible for me to cut a nontipped stem at the point when the bowl/stem diameter changes? Ideas for smoothing edges? I'm thinking I couldn't do it without spending more than it would cost to out source it.

PS, fuck... Stop me from thinking so much.. Imagine my mini glass stem idea... But if done by a real blower they could make it so it perfectly fits those ecig bubbler adapters....

Cool WT. Please post a link to it if possible?
Yes, I have done exactly as you speak about here.
I do intend on making a second one as well from another OEM stem that is partially broken and shortened already. They do work great. I use with the straight glass tube for the most part these days. Nice airflow.
Fun mod indeed.

yup I remember seeing your mod.

I searched water atomizer to find those on dhgate

i believe this is the one

edit: @Pipes this is what i was thinking...

instead of having an actual atomizer (idk the right term?) it would just be the glass... so it would be the bowl+ 1 to 1 1/4 cm glass stem, but the glass stem after the bowl would be made smaller to fit the ecig atomizers (glass bubbler). the glass stem part would also have a heat guard similar to your stealth stem, this would also be used to keep the water bubbler attatched instead of o rings.

kill two birds with one stone? a tiny stealth steam that can be used to attach ecig glass!

Pipes, did you do any cutting to that stem? or did it just happen to fit?

I did not need to cut. The break was in a good spot. I did flame it to smoothen the edges.
Seems to be a lot of glass compatible with that O ring scheme. A great thing IMO.
My next one will need a little cutting down to shorten the profile. Have done before using a dremel tool and tape. I used electrical tape wrapped around what will be the good side. Slowly and gently etched around and around. Easily snaps off. Torch and ready to glue.

Guys,

The classic way to 'cut' tube is to nick it and break it. You know how you might snap a wooden pencil by holding it in your curled fingers with your thumbs together, thumbnail to thumbnail, then flex it backwards against your thumbnails like it was a hinge?

Same deal with good quality glass. Only put a scratch (a short nick cut with a triangular file where you want the cut to be). On the side opposite your thumbs. Not very deep, just enough to concentrate the stresses. Glass is really a fluid, not a solid really, stresses can easily move around and 'build up'......it basically tears from there along the least resistance, straight around the tube. Neat as you please. You can impress folks doing it too if you don't blow it.

Flame polish as needed. Usually done by color, BTW. Looking for the yellow of Sodium IIRC.

I've been breaking in a desktop recently and cut way back on my AA usage. Yesterday, though, everything fell into place for a couple of relaxed AA sessions and I took full advantage. Really nice tool. If you're not rushing anything, it gives nice satisfying amounts of vapor. Supremely discrete as long as you're not wanting to walk into the middle of a crowd with it. Always hard to put it down. So blue is the way to go for me. Sneak in that extra 1.5 hits after I've had my full 2.5 or 3.5 (my first hit is always high flavor, low vapor so I don't give it the value of a full hit), and enjoy a healthy happy relaxing buzz.

Even though I've been known to tout the AA as a quick session vape when needed (and believe me I use it as such when needed), it's really utilized to its fullest potential when it's used with the time needed to let it do its thing.

Regarding batteries, I appreciate all the expertise many of you have and the fact that you're sharing it here. I've learned so much at FC that isn't what I expected to learn that I believe I'm a fan for life. That being said, it's a little beyond me because I've not had a single issue with the charge time of the oem batteries. I picked up three when I purchased the AA, and, while I do my best to keep all charged and ready for duty, I don't really have the need for the third. I cook one till red, then call in no. 2. If I ever anticipate being away from an outlet for more than a few days, I'll pick up a couple of more and believe that I'm good to go. No need for me to do what the manufacturer recommends against doing.

How long does it take y'all to charge up the stock batteries? Mine seems to be taking considerably longer than they once did...

I couldn't say for certain, since I plug it in and leave it. But on the times I have paid attention, 2 hrs. has gotten the job done. I don't run them all the way down, though. When I see red at start up, I'll do that session then charge.

When mine first arrived, there was enough charge for me to do a "lets get acquainted" session, which I did and then charged.

It takes 2 1/2 hours for me to charge up mine in the unit. I bought a nitecore battery charger and 4 of the stock Air batteries. I get about 5 and 1/2 10 min sessions per charge. I use temp mostly green and am using the Solo bent stem if I don't need to be too stealth. I have used the Vortex stem too.

That's not an easy number to give. You don't completely discharge them and the last 15% of the charge is at 'half rate' on average so it takes more time to replace charge than the first. You recharge about 1700mAh or so with a peak rate of about 800mA, 2.5 hours is a good estimate I think.

FWIW worn out batteries normally recharge faster, not slower, since they supply less power before needing charge but charge at the normal rate. Unlike some other battery chemistries.

Those are actually two things you should never do if you want maximum battery life.

Leaving it 'plugged in all the time so it's ready to go' can kill a battery in a year or two even if you never used it. 100% charge level will kill a battery which is why it comes to you at about 70% charge (the maker knows this 'problem').

I'm sure we all know laptops or cell phones that were left 'charging all the time' that no longer have useful battery life? That's why. For maximum life I recommend recharging as needed but running a session to discharge 'back into the safe area' before putting it up again. Your call of course, but that's the expert advice on battery management.

And for maximum battery life/capacity you should fully charge (and 'over charge' a few hours minimum) the first time (before any discharging). Once you discharge that first time, this option is lost. Only the very first charge up counts.

While some/many makers give these recommendations, not all do. I suspect because it's an advantage to them if you need a new battery? For sure it's not the kind of advice sales types favor. Still the advice is based on the battery type and should I think be considered. Again, it's each individual owner's call, but I think that should be an informed choice?

http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

Anyway, FWIW, that's my advice and why. Overcharge at least 4 hours before the first discharge (only) and never store at full charge (leaving it plugged in qualifies as a sin here).

Regards to all.

How many sessions do you get out of the Panasonic 18650 batteries? With the regular Air battery I get 6 - 10min sessions

I also get around 6 sessions with the stock cell. I find I get a bit more with the BD cells, although I very rarely run them down to nothing, I usually swap the cell out after 3-4 sessions. That's the reason I was going to do some testing. I'll have to try running one right down at some point through actual use rather than an empty test, but right now I'm taking a break for a bit. About a week in so far and having some crazy dreams, despite being a relatively light user.

Anyway, FWIW, that's my advice and why. OF

Let me be more precise. "I plug it in and ...don't set a timer for 2 hrs. to check to see if it's charged but rather I plug it in conscientiously and unplug it perhaps a little less conscientiously some 2 or 3 hrs. (4?) later."

And I guess that part of the message I was trying to convey was that perfect battery operator or not, I've managed fairly seamlessly with 3 oems so kudos to the manufacturers. No need to go elsewhere.

Hey guys,

to those who use the vape fiend micro bubbler: how the hell do you clean that thing. I mean, having it soaked in ISO - even with salt and shake it - and leaving it over night doesn't help at all. My thingy is the internal domed chamber is all milky/blurry, the glass is like blind. The rest is ok. But I just don't get it clean... And a bit of a smell is left too..

Grateful for any hint or advice. Teach me :)

About 2.5 hours for a charge in my Nitecore Intellicharger for me. i Usually get about 4.5 sessions out of a full charge although I turn off when it turns on at the red battery level. That is, not red where the usual 'at temperature' blue LED is, so I suspect it has another session in it.

Hi OF,

thanks! Too bad I'm from the EU... Doubt I can get it over here somewhere. Never seen that product... Any similar products from global brands?

OF has again nailed it here. I have one of those small bubblers and the brewers wash works great. Mix up some mix in a glass and pour into the bubbler, shake for a while, fill till full and let sit for 30 minutes or so. If really mucked up, longer might be needed.
Good stuff.

Good stuff.

I found it works best when hot. If a first 'soak' doesn't get it done, rinse and repeat with fresh detergent and more hot water.

The stuff is designed to 'eat' the same sort of hydrocarbon junk from brewery plumbing where scrubbing is not possible. Works with very hard water, uses 'Oxyclean technology'.

Good stuff, indeed. Try a tablespoon in the dishwasher......cleans the deposits right out.

Better to flush down the sink than ISO, works better, isn't a fire hazard and is cheaper. What's not to like?

You will not find this product at the grocery store, my friend!

Here's links for you, if you add the manufacturer's name (Five Star) to your PBW search, you will definitely find some available.

Edit: sorry, I read UK instead of EU, but you get my point. Google Five Star PBW.

Only thing about PBW is it makes glass very slippery. First time I used it I broke 2, count'em, 2 bubblers and 2 stems:cry:

Yep. When I use it I try to plan on not touching it. For instance for small bubblers I'll set them in the sink (in a glass if necessary to get them to 'stand up straight') and then put a dash of PBW in with a small funnel on top. When the water is running 'full hot' I throttle back, swing the faucet over and slowly fill it up for the soak.

Afterwards, I rinse with hot water (at a slow rate) for a minute or two, then warm and finally cold. If it's a WT I usually fill it up again right then. If possible I only handle stuff dry or after rinse in cool water.

BTW works great on Solo stems, FM MPs and so on as well.

2 stems and 2 bubblers? Not up to Ataxian standards, but an admirable effort.......

Anyway, good caution to include, thanks.

@OF, I live in an area with very hard water. Usually we use citric acid to clean the stone.

My F-bomb has stone deposits that don't want to come clean with citric acid.

Would the stuff you mentioned work here too?

BTW, I clean my solo stems in 96 % ethanol. Then I use the resulting liquid in an AVB tincture.

Just found it on amazon.
