Higher Cost Vaporizers Are They Worth It?

Vapman is cool but it seems way too easy to overheat or extract too much and burn materials. I'm also not a huge fan of using torch lighters with vaporizers and the concentrates sieve looks like it would get super messy with one usage. Definitely a vaporizer that has a learning curve, needs practice, and not quite so user friendly.

You should all try the EVO, there's just something miraculously special about having delicious dabs with hot air, and it's so easy to use that my grandma can use it.

Glad to hear @stickstones has them for a great price if anyone is looking, but think I'm still going to pass on this one.

VapMan can be overheated and does take some technique that has to be learned, but in the context of this thread it's a great example of a superior vape that is worth it and certainly not overpriced. As noted above, I had more issues giving it enough heat rather than too much. Produces delicious dabs from anything I've thrown at it and they last a good long time. It's also great with live resin and hash. And for flowers? Probably hard to beat in any portable (flavor sure is) and I would say impossible in the $100 +/- price range.

Are high priced vapes worth it? I still don't really think so in most cases, but get why some people prefer them. But when comparing anything similar to the VapMan - are they worth it? Hell no! And would say the VapMan provides one of the best examples of why. Think nano (or other logs) does the same once you start talking plugins.

It's hard to say that if you haven't tried them. I need to get a Vapman given all the excitement on this forum about it. Whenever someone wants to compare the Vapman to something I bow out because I have no experience with it.

Very true, and I certainly haven't tried most or all of them - and do have a problem with going on reviews here rather than first hand experience (tho I read a bunch of them - especially when something new catches my interest). But, can say with no doubts the VapMan delivers all that was ever promised and more. And, don't think there are many vapes in the same price range to compare it to. Think MFLB is the obvious comparison for most. Still a nice vape with its own place in my little vape arsenal (stealthy, stealthy, stealthy!), but not even in the same league as a VapMan as far as vapor production or for use with concentrates.

I enjoy the overall experience with it ... you have to be more in tune. And its very aesthetically pleasing. Very unique vape

The funny thing is, every stoner's budget is low, except and because for weed. They can spend dozens of coins for a daily or weekly buzz, but when it comes to something like vaporizers which is directly linked to the cost and entertainment of medicating, people turn into Scrooge Mc Duck on welfare and are unable to spend any more money than for a slightly changed lightbulb.

In my life I spent about 20-30k € on weed (15 years of smoking with daily usage for the last 10 years which would be about 0.55-0.82g per day) but only 1k€ on vaporizers (2006 til now). If I had started with vaporizers only and stayed at 0.3-0.4 per day I'd have paid 10,9k€ - 14,6k€. Which, well, in comparison would have got me an additional digit cano, minivap, the new 1k$ vaporbrothers and a sublimator and I still would have more than 5-10k€ left.

Good post above.. I find it hard sometimes to justify the money I've spent on trying out vapes, looking for the one for me. When I feel like I'm using as much herb as I did smoking, I sometimes think about just packing the pipe and rolling up the joints again. It's hard to see those savings add up in the long term, but you can bet that they are. Don't forget that quitting smoking will improve your health/quality of life. This could add up in terms of doctor appointments and hospital bills.

Totally agree, but to reiterate what I've been saying all through this thread - it isn't exactly necessary to spend big money on a vape to get the same results on stretching your stash. Different people are going to want different things from their vape, but you can pick up my favorite 2 miserly vapes that both produce excellent flavor and clouds if you like (with a little practice). nano is about $200 and VapMan is about $100. A few options could be purchased for either and always nice to have a bubbler, so that will add a bit to cost for most before they have what they want out of a setup. But, for about $300 (less than the cost of many vapes, certainly less than some of the more expensive ones discussed here) you could have a solid desktop and delicious and versatile portable. And, IME they both take very little material for an effective session.

Well, this is just one personal experience, but the two vaporizers I spent the most money on in my vaping journey (AroMed & MiniVap) were the most unreliable, fiddly, and most unsatisfying. I also found customer service on these to be really lacking.

On the flip side, my mid range devices (Extreme Q, E-Nano, and Pax2) have all been completely amazing, rock solid, and I have found that the companies that make them are approachable and open to dialog with me as a customer.

Looking at it written out I'm not surprised! I've often felt that well designed mid-range products outperform high end "luxury products" in many arenas of consumer technology.

This is why I buy into vaporizer "systems" as opposed to individual vaporizers per se. For example, 7th Floor doesn't make the most exotic or sexy vapes, but they work every time and they're compatible with each other. I can use an SSV wand with the LSV for example, or an 18mm M2M as a WPA for either the LSV or SSV. The same Voltage Keeper VVPS that tames my HI works well with the UD. I can use the same downsize WPA for the Lotus as I do for the UD. Etc. I enjoy having a bunch of interchangeable parts that I can experiment with, like vaping concentrates with the LSV using the concentrate pad for the Crafty through a Lotus j hook. But that's just me.

Most high priced vaporizers offer something low priced vaporizers don't but the most important is automatic temperature correction and preset temperatures, since it allows for a more efficient experience and a more accurate usage which is important for medical users.

Other than that, i don't find it is anymore worth it to spend 400USD to something most vaporizers at ~150USD do.

I prefer non-eletronic vaporizers since generally they have the best airpaths in terms of taste and materials and i don't have the need to pinpoint a temperature for medicinal use either. Plus, i don't need to worry about autonomy.
The only thing i would say i miss is being able to hit it mindlessly.

Even with electric vaporizers, apart from the very low-end which is mostly crap, the middle range is much less price inflated perhaps due to more competition and bigger market share.
On top of that, most units have temperature settings that within a margin of error is enough for the vast majority of medicinal users and recreational users.

It is mandatory for a +400USD vaporizer to have simultaneously:
automatic temperature regulation+temperature accuracy+clean materials used in the airpath

and, imo, this 3 variable feature is what makes a 400USD worthwile.

In the end, the "worthiness" is subjective to each others needs, wants and capabilities.

To me, it would just be a want.

Truer words have never been typed. It is all subjective. For me, part of the fun of indulging is using different devices. Am I a bad person because I like to mix it up? No. Am I foolish? Well, that's getting back to that subjective thing, again. I recognize the foolishness, but even that makes me smile.

Well macbill when the sun doesn’t come up tomorrow you will know how truly evil you are for doing what you want. err, never mind.

The most expensive vaporizer I bought was the Ascent when it cost 249.00 after it first came out. I was one of the early buyers. They did have a rough time initially with the faulty units but they worked it out.

For the most part I have portables. Last spring I bought 2 Enanos and have been very happy. I do spend on accessories from time to time. A water tool bumps things up to the next level.

It seems like the medium price is around between $150 - $300 for a good vaporizer. Plenty folks rave about the cheaper butane powered units.
I have read on the threads regarding butane vaporizers. The only thing holding me back is I have no desire to have to fiddle with a flame while vaporizing but that's just me. It reminds me too much of the combustion days. I like relaxing while I medicate.

Often it comes down to what you put in your vaporizers not whether you spent $800 or $200. I agree temperature control and flavor is an important issue so is whether or not it's a weed hog. I don't want anything too complicated, I want ease of use and cleaning.

I was able to replenish the cupboards with some wonderful strains by the way.

I agree with @max I think sometimes you are paying for an inflated name.

I have the rest of the summer off, happy Monday.:D

the Vapman cost me £75, and it hits as hard as any desktop. the key is temperature, and not the control, but unlike electric vapes, the battery & element are not having to combat the cooling effect of the use taking a draw through it. a flame is much more capable of hitting the temps that deliver big hits, and for the money, nothing compares to the Vapman :)

Gotta disagree man, the vapman can't give massive whitewall through water with flowers like other flower vapes. It absolutely does not measure up to my Mighty (or the e-nano, sublimator, cloud, evo, crafty, LSV etc) for this purpose (due to inferior taste, far less cloud capacity due to smaller bowl and the potential for accidental combustion/pyrolysis when trying to get big hits with flowers). I do not use the vapman for flowers because I wanna taste them from start to finish with big clouds (in a piece, not big clouds for a direct draw hit) and no risk of combustion!

I should qualify that the vapman will do great sized direct draw flower hits without significant risk of combustion, but I wanna stress that it is not gonna give big enough hits to whitewall glass anywhere near as easily (and a significant risk of accidental combustion follows here!).

The vapman IMO shines as a big hitter not for flowers, but rather for non full-melt hashes, I use a 3/4 melt bubble hash in my vapman at high temps and get clouds which only can be matched by a sublimator - no chance of accidental combustion either :D

It ain't the hardest hitter out there, but it will whitewall a small piece. You just need to be one with your VapMan. Only thing is, that's probably the only good hit you'll get out of that load. Then again, what else can you pick up for around $100 that will do it as well?

IMO it really is at it's best when looking for a few tasty hits, either trying to stay not too buzzed or for a top off. I really like it for a top off, but you look pretty obvious futzing with that butane jet outside of the bar or wherever. And, it could be one dangerous bastard if trying to use it while driving! Definitely need a well trained co-pilot for this one. Very nice for a short hike or other outdoor activities, though. It also saved my ass during a 3 hour power outage last month.

Do love it with concentrates or hash and it does go for a while with either. Still prefer the nano for this too, but the VapMan does do it well. Think I'm gonna load some in there tonight now that you've brought it up!

Definitely man, I will concede that you may be able to squeeze out one reasonably cloudy hit into a piece from a bowl of flowers in the vapman, but if you do, that'll be the only one.

It will also not taste even remotely as good as the bigger cloudy hits you will get from any other vape we mentioned (because you'll have cooked the flavor out warming the vapman up to cloudy hit temps - if you're judicious, you'll have briefly taken small direct hits early on in the heat-up period to make sure you don't waste the taste ;) ) and the risk of combusting a bowl of flowers when trying to get a big cloudy hit from the vapman is very real!

Couldn't agree more with you saying that the vapman for flowers is at it's best when you're looking for smaller (still big hits by direct draw standards!), direct hits. The first hits are definitely tasty too, I couldn't dispute that for a second.

Enjoy that concentrate bowl brother, have another one for me! I got me a lot of work to do today and will have to hold off on the THC :( The clouds delivered by the vapman from concentrates through glass are seriously next level, a buddy of mine who owns a sublimator exclaimed the other day that he believed that the vapman with bubble hash gave bigger hits than the sublimator!

Enjoying it, I am! Opted for a little shatter. One of those hybrid of hybrids type. A little messier but, oh, so good. Amazing flavor and effect. :D

Some vapes you like. They work well enough and are almost perfect for certain situations.
Some vapes you just LOVE!!

For me VapMan is one of the latter!

I can get some pretty big hits of the vapman. If i put the same size load in the vm and the mighty .. i reckon i can get a bigger cloud from the vm. Also i think the flavour of the first 2 puffs on vm is tastier than the m. Obviously this is all opinion.

In another thread you said the vm will start to taste like the old strains put through it. Do you find that with the mighty? I find it makes a lot of strains taste very similar.
