Thanks for the kind words. We do not do perfect though. We are never perfect in what we do or say or make. Perfect is a word, for me anyway, that cannot be defined in this life.
As for reality, our new SS Heatport will be a great improvement over the old design in our opinion. One big reason is stainless steel holds heat better than brass. Then the 'solid' construction will also be a big plus. Since we are machining a solid chunk of stainless, with a computer, we get to play with different configurations for maximum air turbulence(thanks Tom). Kinda fun pretending you are an air molecule. How would I travel through THIS maze?
Not sure if anyone noticed but the bottom view of our heatport shows something very unique in the design. We have a bottom 'plate' with equal holes as the top plate. This serves two purposes. First, it makes the bottom of the center portion solid as a rock when inserted in the SS sleeve. Second, more air turbulence getting to the center tube and up past the heater and to the stem tip contents since the air again has to travel through holes. The standard log vape heatport/heat exchanger is open at the bottom.

Thanks for the info and comments. The issues you brought up were on my mind too. I will be keenly aware of any changes that occur over time with the wood and the tight fit of the heatport.
On that note I will say we have not given this new heatport the test of time(years). No way would I wait for that. I will compensate for that lack of time testing with our guarantee. We fix or replace, all on us, if something goes wrong. I must say though that after ten years making these puppies, I do not see any serious problem coming up. At least not a problem we cannot deal with.

I am not sure if I should say this or not, but I have never even had a single thought about a warranty with my zap. Knowing the way rick does business, I guess I just assumed he would have my back if anything ever went wrong.

Dammit. I really don't need this vape but I know I will end up getting it. Just more to look forward too I suppose. Finally I can have the beauty of a Zap with the quality of stainless steel, and I just LOVE how it is all machined. This puts you apart from the other logs IMO, you can't buy your heat exchanger at a hardware store, it's made specifically for you and this use, Good stuff!

Third and expected final prototype in my hands now. I will be putting it in Steiner666's Cherry Zap today and testing tonight. If all goes as planned, I can have it is his hands by weeks end.
If this slight mod does as expected, it is a go and I can have plenty more before the weekend.
Assuming no surprises, I will be modifying the website tomorrow to reflect the new SS heatport option, etc. I may keep it an option for now but it will be a no-brainer with my expected minimal price differential between the two.

Zaplady is soldering your Zap as I type. Sweet changes in proto #3. A bit more mass and 4 holes in the top(and bottom) rather than the 6 shown in the pic a few pages back on this thread. Both changes to perk up the heat just a bit more although Proto#2 rips as is. Top hole for stem tip insertion exact, not close but exact. Stem tips still slide in and out easily but no leaking ambient air around the fit.
I'll have a status report in a couple hours. No pic as we will leave that to Steiner666. I will say it is a unique Cherry with lots of symmetry and a GREEN led on light even!

The funny thing is, if Mike, our oldest son, had not followed up on an ad for for new commercial tin roofing blems at less than half price a year ago, NONE of this would be happening. No super walnut score either.

I think one of the cool things in life is how your contact and relationships can often lead you in directions that you never expected. I have always been a person who likes and is fascinated with people and I can say many of the great things that have happened to me in my life was because of connections that I have made with people. Sometimes big and sometimes small, but they always add to my life in some way. The fact that this positive direction came from a chance meeting with your son does not surprise me. That is what happen when you go through life with a open mind and open heart.

Just to clarify, I said "I am beginning to dream about the folks out of the US". That is a long ways from doing it, even though that goal is a bit closer with the new design and connections.
First things first, one step at a time the turtle way.
I have to get the website cleaned up and get the SSS train rolling with no speed bumps which will take awhile. Then we can possibly consider other markets. That decision, if made, would be major because of all the necessary red tape, rules, etc. It would also involve wholesale quantities and pricing which we currently are not doing. Lots of bridges to cross before global sales can be considered.
We are beginning an association with a person or two, here and there. These will be like mini retail outlets. One person takes delivery of a quantity of Zaps then sells them direct locally. Stay tuned on that one as we will have an announcement in a week or two relating to a MMJ enabled State way down south.
Those that follow us know we can be slow movers. We get the product out daily and with little wait time but Zapville changes come slow. This SSS heatport took a couple months anyway.
BTW, I too like SSS. Solid Stainless Steel. Simple and clear.
Will take much of the day to finish some web changes as we have some other must do work to get done this morning.

This new design looks very promising for the future of log vapes in general.. or at least Ricks products. Seems as if he will have a nice little advantage over his competition

I agree, this change to stainless steel is a big one that really increases the competition! also I really would have preferred to have SSS in mine but that just means Im gonna have to get another Zap
