I hate to say this after Mitch's post (sorry Mitch!) and because I fear the almighty jinx but....my firefly is in a amazing shape. I still love it and it's still awesome. Not one dent in the paint yet. I haven't cleaned it two weeks and no problems!

Well, it's near my second week for the FF. I'm learning the learning curve. Steadily I'm getting better hits.
I changed the lighting in the room so I could see the vape. I found vape was coming out of the mouthpiece. So I made sure I was holding the mouthpiece properly.

I also put my fingers partly over the air vents when I take a draw. This restricts the air intake to the heating chamber. I find this gives a better hit.

I've got the red one and keep it in its original box. So it's good as a storage box too.
One thing that bothers me about the FF is I'd be mortified if there was a scratch on it. Small dents I can live with, but not a scratch. I don't know if that's a bad thing about the device.

Wow, pulled out the Firefly after not using it for months. Wow. THE FLAVOR! The vapor is all loaded up as it should be. But the TASTE is so clear, so well-defined !!!!

Has anyone tried replacing the coil to the firefly? Or know if it would even be possible, what kind of coil/wire would be needed?

That is interesting. First I've heard of someone doing that!

You'll get over that. New Device Syndrome.:nod:
The heating element in non- repaceable. At least by the end user.

I'm not sure Firefly themselves have ever replaced one. Every story I've ever heard, or experienced first hand, they've just sent out a new FF when the heating element dies.

I hope this calms your nerves a bit. I took my firefly on a trip this weekend. To a beautiful rocky cliff on the ocean. I fell pretty hard with the FF in my hand. It made a really loud nose when it hit the rocks, the front bottom of the unit and the mouthpiece took the worst hit. I closed my eyes and gasped. When I finally opened them I inspected the FF. NOT ONE SCRATCH. I mean this thing broke my fall. My friend and I were amazed, we continued to use it for the rest of the day. You know just to make sure it had no internal issues

Great Scott!
My other ones were all good. This current silver one looks like Freddy Krueger got it. Not sure why :( Even the red one I had (and miss) was scratch free.

Wow, that's a tough unit. Good to see it's reliable on the drop test.

The only way I can think of improving the FF is to give it extra battery life.
I have an e-cigarette with a 2600 mAh battery. But the FF is only 770 mAh.
If there's ever an FF2, then they could give it a higher capacity battery.
However, if the battery has more charge, I wonder if that means they'll have to change their proprietary ceramic heating element.

Also, you can't actually see the vapour as you take a draw. It is possible to tilt the unit and look into the circular window - but there isn't much to see.
With the MFLB, you can see vapour accumulating in the heating chamber. And if you use the stem, then you can see the vape going through it.
So if there is an FF2, the lid could have windows showing the entire vapour path - that way you can see you're drawing in vape.
But that means re-designing the exterior of the lid - and I don't think I really want that!

Just a heads up, my black FF still rockin and no noticable change in usage or battery life.
6 months old give or take. (my first FF too!)

i recently ordered a watertap for some other purpose and noticed it contained a few screens for filtering. I cut them into the right size and now use it as a top screen with great success. Evenly dark and no more having to press down materials. Also keeps the device alot cleaner :)

---------------

I see from other posts that the coil is what makes most FFs go defective, it would be nice if people could replace the coils by themselves, or at least coils being sold somewhere.

I know it would void warranty, but is it really practical to constantly having to return it for repairs? I dont think even Ff themselves really like it.

Im surprised my own coil hasn't given out on me as ive fiddled around with it quite alot.
Honestly though i wouldnt be surprised if some coils have stress on certain parts of the coil by default. My coil was realigned rather 'loosely' and the ceramic can move freely a few micrometers :)

I think new FF coils still have to get into 'form' after a few heat sessions (or more) and they might start to touch the ceramics too hard while doing it.

Just a theory.

Cheerrs!

Anyone know fireflys discount code on their site?
Alternatively anyone know the cheapest place to purchase the new 770mah battery, external charger, and concentration screens considering firefly is sold out of their batteries on their old site? This will no doubt require a fc discount somewhere I'm sure and the corresponding code that will need to go with that. Please advise!! Thx.

As far as I know, the only active FF discount codes are ones that FF themselves have issued as part of a publicized promotion. (I don't think one is going on at the moment.). As for the 770s, they were supposed to be in stock by now. Are they still out?

As for where to purchase....read the two posts above yours...:p

Hi all
First post

Well, I'm sold on the Firefly.
Only two questions now:
Which color? and
Which seller? I'm in the UK. Is it best to buy from FF direct, Vape World
or a UK supplier (and if so which one)?
I'd be grateful for any advice.

Vapefiend has proven to be a pretty solid vendor from your neighborhood.

Hi hafalump
read your post at 1030 am - postman arrived at 1100 am.
It's got the 770 battery so it might be ok.
I gather from reading other posts in this thread that there are other issues as well.

Got the battery charged but can't try it out til this evening (stuff to do).
Will report on how this vape-noob gets on.

The 770s are fine. In fact, they are excellent. No worries. Enjoy....let us know how you like it....

I took black and i have no regrets.

i think silver and red make it stand out too much, it is already on the edge of portability so. black is just awesome. imho it looks like the least cheap looking color, altho the FF doesnt look cheap no matter what color you apply on it xD

Hey Firefly lovers,
So I'll be sending off my dead unit, but vapeworld only send warranty FFs in N.America (don't ask me why, they do international shipping for purchases)........ I live in the UK

Would any of you kind U.S dwelling members be willing to forward the package on to the UK, I pay shipping costs.

PM me if you can help, TIA

I currently have an Arizer Solo, MFLB, MB2e and a Wickie pipe lighter. All that being said, I'm thinking of getting a Firefly. I like my Solo. The MFLB is great too, but the constant battery changing is annoying - I can barely get a trench out of one battery - but then again, I love the instant heating of it and the flavour. I know I can get a battery replacement adapter, but there goes the portability.

Now that I've been reading about the longer battery life with the Firefly 770 batteries and the improved flavour that is apparently has over the already great Solo. Plus I've heard it has the same head rush of the MFLB? Sounds good to me. I think I'm sold already, I think I just need a little nudging over the edge...

@Greydog if you're an ex-combustor and liked pipes, the firefly is a very pipe-like experience imho. When I combusted I wasn't into pipes, but I did like that first hit and the ff offers that kind of exceptional taste.
