Discontinued The Grasshopper

Finally got to try out one of these last night as one of my long distance friends was an early backer and has had his for a little bit now. I really wish I could say I was impressed with it but I was not. Mouth piece got hot to fast and the vapor quality was good but nothing to write home about and oddly enough we wernt getting very full extraction of the goodies... I was expecting a lot more based on the reactions to the hopper in this thread.

Could you describe the 'getting hot too fast' part in more detail? Were you sharing a session with another person? About how many inhales did you get before it was a problem?

Absolutley! I also own and love those 3 vapes and they are all great but the Grasshopper is also good, for different reasons. Its by far the most portable and fastest so I think the Grasshopper is the best choice for portability and with how it operates, makes it the most efficient portable unit and the most convenient. It may not have quite the flavor or smoothness as the Crafty or Mighty but it's pretty damn good and it makes up for that in other ways.....

I think it's worth it for sure, especially considering its cheaper. I love the Inhalater and I have owned a MiniVap and they are similar to the GH and they all have certain advantages but I think the GH Is the best choice out of the 3 for portability, ease of use, efficancy, convieniece, fastest heat up and durability. The MiniVap isn't that mini and the Inhalater's capsule needs to be packed more to get the best results but they are both great vapes. They all ultimately do the same thing but they all have something different to offer so if you can afford to have a few, that's the way to go but if i had to choose one vape for all of my portable needs then, I would probably choose the GH.

I agree that if I only had one vape it would be the GH, comparing it to the other vapes I have (pax pax2 firefly). I also agree that all vapes a different experiences and some compliment each other. I find them pax2 compliments the GH for me because I also like Vaping tobacco and other herbs because being a former for real and sometimes occasional still smoker I enjoy the act.

That's why for me it's great to have my GH for cannabis, when i want to get high I can be there almost instantly but when I want to chill and puff for an extended time then I have th pax2

So with that in mind @Just Justin , I don't use my FF anymore, IMO everything the FF aid good at the GH is better, my question since you have both, how would describe the experience between the two and if you recommend the crafty as a compliment to the GH, thinking about replacing my FF with a Crafty, the GH would still probably be my go too but I can see circumstances where what I gather about the crafty use experience might be good, plus I'm gear head and I think the app is cool!

Wondering about the cannabis you were using in the GH? Which GH was it? There are very few of these vaporizers out there. You friend is a lucky guy or unlucky depending if he ends up with a faulty unit. I've noticed that often you are very criticle and seem to have very high standards.

I do believe that plenty of beta units should have been distributed around to get the bugs knocked out of this new device.

IMO waiting on the sidelines can be hard at times. I've been spending too much on vapor related accessories on products that are available to me now. Waiting isn't one of my strong points. I know my limits.

I do have high standards as far as vapor quality go. I will fully admit that not many vapes can meet those standards even though they are fine vapes. I guess it could be a faulty unit but it seemed operational, im no GH expert though. I wont even entertain the what cannabis were you using question.

Just 2 people using it, passing the hammer and GH back and forth between hits. Towards the end of the load (10-15 hits) it was to hot for me to keep my lips on long enough to take a hit. Shoved a piece of whip tubing on there to keep the party going. Might not have this issue as individual user if you give it long enough between hits.

So ... Finally after such a long wait there are comments here on actual GH use I feel I can trust.

Thanx.
He only used it for a few hours. It takes a bit more time with every new vaporizers to find the perfect balance for you personally (temperature used, grinding consitancy, draw style/speed, amount of herb used, etc). His comments are great, I just put them in perpective. The more the merrier. Personally, if he didn't get a full extraction, from the GH ABV I saw already from other user's photos/videos, it's probably because he didn't used it properly.

RUDE BOY

Space is the Place
still I trust what he says about his first experience and his impression of vapor quality after only a few hours use due to the vapes he already has plenty of experience with, since they're vapes I've used (haven't tried a sub) that may not mean anything to you but it does to me. Sorry but just for me i trust people who also post in and been helpful and active in other vape threads more then those who have only really posted in the Grasshopper threads.

Of course the GH Is going to get hot, it's 95% metal, it's small, convection heat etc....if it's a problem for you, you just need to wait a few moments between consecutive hits, especially when your using it with multiple people. The GH is more suited for solo use because it dose get hot and the chamber is relatively small. I also wish the vapor was cooler as well but considering its size, design and construction, the vapor is going to be hotter than other portables depending on the style so I am pleasantly happy with the GH considering that. The GH is different and you have to use it differently if you want the best experience and there are lots of tricks to keep the unit cooler, longer and get smoother hits like take shorter draws, inhale from further up on the mouthpiece etc...I use my GH between 2-3.5 most of the time and it puts out some nice vapor from the very first hit and my draws are usually no longer than 7 seconds, past that it gets a little hotter and harsher. I would definitely compare the vapor temp to the Inhalater vaporizers but I would say the GH generally has better flavor.
Scott A: what temp were you guys using the GH? What was your method of use?

I love the Crafty and the GH equally, for different reasons. They are really two different animals and I prefer the GH for quick, on the go, all day use and you can't beat it's speed, convienienve and efficacy. Its bullet proof, the most portable and is probably the best vape for conserving your stash because it will effectively vape pinchs at a time of you want. I prefer to use the Crafty when I have more time, when I'm with friends or around the house and the Crafty has better flavor, smoother vapor but it doesn't have a replaceable battery, it's plastic and it takes a long time to heat. The Crafty and Mighty produce some of the very best, purest and most flvorful vapor I have ever tried but they are a pain to clean and I worry about them on the go due to all the plastic. I would get both if you can because they both are amazing machines but neither one is perfect. I hope this helps

Very helpful thanks! I'm getting close to pulling the trigger, hoping to find someone who has one to try but from ready the crafty thread it seems like a safe bet and would be better at the role my Firefly is currently supposed to be filling "couch vape" since the GH is SOOO MUCH easier to use for similar results. If the crafty does have better flavor then it sounds worth it for that experience as well.

For what it's worth, I barely ever use my FF since getting a Crafty. And I think the GH will be a perfect addition, especially after Just Justin's and others posts.

first of i am not owning a GH but i am amazed that you are praising the taste of the crafty as such good... ok to be honest i am using the factory setting of crafty (temp. and so on) maybe if you lower the heat it will taste better... I cant change the settings because i do not own a device which would be able to do this (smartphone)... but if i compare the taste of the crafty with the taste of my nano the crafty looses... (also my esv tastes better for the first or two hits)... also crafty is a conduction and convection vape and i always thought conduction does not taste as good as convection... do you usually fill the crafty with herb and then turn it on, because if you do you are also using (baking) terpenes while heating, which the gh should not do in my opinion...
but who knows maybe my crafty is different then yours also taste is really subjective...

Your certainly right, taste is subjective. The Crafty and Mighty have some of the best tasting/purest vapor of any vaporizer, portable or desktop, maybe not the best but they are right near the top IN MY OPINION, you don't have to agree with me but I am pretty sure most people will agree that the Mighty/Crafty flavor is better than just ok. All I know is that when I use my Crafty or Mighty, I can taste the herb and only the herb, which allows you to taste all the subtle differences that each herb offers and I have been extremely happy with these two vapes and I will continue to recommend them as the two of the top PORTABLE vaporizers out!

I've never used a Nano but I have owned a Elevape Smart Vaporizer and the ESV can taste great, even amazing! at times but it cannot compare to the extraction or vapor production of the Crafty or the GH. The ESV was also a tricky little vaporizer to get great results with but it had a ton of potential and I hope IPUFF will come out with an improved model that will have the same design and style but with better vapor production and a removable battery. I have since sold my ESV after I got my GH because the two vaporizers are very similar in action but in my opinion, again, the GH blows the ESV out of the water with better extractions, more and better vapor, larger chamber, removable battery, easier to clean and maintain but the ESV will always have a special place in my heart......Last I heard, IPUFF and Indica vaporizer are joining forces to create a hybrid vaporizer of their two different vapes which sounds like it would be awesome!

Plenty of tasty vapes out there. I'm anxious to see more comparisons to some of the plug ins - especially nano and other log vapes. And, more flavor comparisons to portable vapes like the FireFly and VapMan (both with a pretty good flavor rep here on FC).

Really not expecting it to be the same. Think the form factor and quick use is the biggest thing about the GH, but if it can do all that AND taste as good as my nano or VapMan? That would truly be incredible.

I have both a GH and a Firefly, as @Just Justin says flavor is subjective, and I bought the FF because it had such great reviews on flavor and it does have great flavor, I just think that on balance the GH is better.

This is what I mean by "on balance". IF you have a great technique for the FF, you can get a more complex and flavorful hit than I've gotten from the GH ever on the first hit.

However, with absolutely no technique whatsoever, If I just turn the GH to temp 3 and take a rip, the flavor is BETTER than an 90% of the hits you get on a FF, the only hit that is better on the FF is that fresh bowl first hit with great technique.

The GH gets as good and frequently better results with no learning curve.

In fact, I've decided to replace my Firefly. I haven't really used it at all in the 2 weeks I've had a GH except for comparing the 2. I think I'm going to go with a Crafty for my "session" vape cus you know what they say ... once you go convection, you can't go conduction :-)

My Elevape produces clouds easily with a puff, problem for most is not combusting. I think where GH beats Elevape is the exact temp control, and no stirring, plus replaceable batteries. Like ESV without the learning curves

and hopefully also good results with small amounts of herb (especially regarding visible clouds)... i am since ever searching for a portable vape which i can use like my enano... i use my nano with loads with 0.03g and get more or less 3 to 5 or 6 clouds ... hoping the gh will be similar like my nano (small loads, great taste, great clouds)...

in the esv i need to load 0.07 to 0.1g to get good clouds

I would be highly surprised if the GH could produce better extraction and flavor than the Nano. If it does, I'll buy two.

And that's exactly why I'm gonna buy one. I love my ESV but I need a backup just in case... Or maybe I just needed an excuse to buy it hahahaha

If you love the ESV, you will love the GH! They have a lot in common like, all metal construction, instant heat, convection etc and they feel similar with their solid, tank like construction. If it wasn't for all of the stirring and inconsistent heating, I would still have my Elevape. I think the GH is an improvement on just about every aspect of the ESV, except maybe for the no button operation of the ESV. The GH is so much more powerful and efficient but I think if IPUFF comes out with a ESV 2, then that may be the vape to watch.....

I hope the next GH will have the on/off button like it does now but clicking it on, would just put the unit in standby mode so then you could just inhale and it would trigger the unit to heat up like the ESV, so you wouldn't have to click it on/off for every hit.

Hi all. Thanks for the many pages of info. After weighing pros and cons (not really ... just impulse).

I'll be in the pool of "ships in Sept" folk. And, yes, I went for the Ti after reading posts.

So now just to sit back, forget I purchased, and wait for a surprise in the Fall (where is the support group for VAS?).
