Source Orb Pen Vape

Anyone hear any word yet from the company about when the new quartz coils/atomizers and slim versions of the orb will start to ship officially? Sorry if this has been brought up here already, but I "pre-ordered" the second I saw them pop up on their site at the end of June and I'm getting antsy waiting for them to start going out in the mail! I can always use my V2 orb, but there's something about new and shiny that makes me want to hold-off until the new toys show up...

I also pre ordered one. My v2 already isn't working after only a month of having it. Pretty sure the Terra leaked into the battery now it doesn't work. The v3 originally said it will begin shipping from July 1st to the 10th. I've been waiting patiently since before then, mine has been in the "preparing for shipment" stage for over 2 weeks and now the site says orders are now shipping and will go out from July 14th to 24th. Pretty annoying but guess it can happen with new product with high demand.

To be honest haven't really been impressed with the v2. I really loved it the first week or 2 that I had it before I started noticing the flaws. The thing spills and wastes oil like crazy, I don't know if the bigger bowls will help, I hope so. Because I've scraped huge amounts of oil from the metal screen part. I wish there was a way to cover the atomzer so oil isn't allowed to bubble over the rims because its a sticky annoying, expensive mess. I am very careful to smoke the thing almost horizontal and not over load it, but what am I expected to load a 0.05 bowl and expect to get high off of it? lol. Will come back and review the v3 when it comes, I am excited about the new atomizers, I hope I don't have the same problem with the new terras not working with my battery when I get it.

That's a shame you had such a bad experience with the original terras - I wasn't ever a fan of the long draw and battery usage of them (since I use an aftermarket standard ego twist battery which only gives me about 3 terra sessions on a full charge), but as far as I know the new glass ones should correct the drip problem you have that might be the culprit behind your battery not working or making the proper connection to the bowl. I always have just preferred the single coils since they still give clouds while being conservative compared to the doubles, but I'm hoping these new glass terras with the funnel around the edges now to prevent spillover into the metal insulation will fix the issue with having to avoid holding the pen sideways or at an odd angle..

Out of curiosity, does your battery have any visible residue on it that might be preventing a closed circuit from being formed? I know when I used a poorly built coil once that had a huge visible hole in the bottom, my battery got fudged up and it took cleaning the connecting end with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol to get it to work again..

So, got my kit today.

Put some oil in the terra, very impressed. Put the little skiny cartridge on a tiny ego-bat I forgot I had, and took it hiking.

Came home and sat down to try out different cartridges and the bat stopped working.

The attys work on orher egos, so it's the bat.

Any one have a clue?

Yikes so my duel coil died today and now my variable voltage ego battery is stuck on and will not go off :o I have been using this battery for over a year straight with no problems. The globe v3 they sent me had a dead connector and now this? I used the double coil atomizer 3 times and now it's dead along with my battery. The terra I can't use because it has red paint or ink in it :/ now I have to go get another battery and use the single coil that came with it :( and hope to god it doesn't kill my battery.

lame very lame-
hopefully they fixed some of these issues in the orb v3- the quartz looks good but Im skeptical.

So they decided to send me a replacement after sending them photos of the terra with red ink or paint in it. I said they should just send me the orb like I originally ordered- I received there package and to my surprise was a orb atomizer and three replacement attys. The quality of the orb is 100% better then the globe. If source is reading this I would recommend removing the threading and replace them with two o rings for quick reloading. Dealing with sourcevapes customer service was painful but in the end they did the right thing and Im happy with orb. The double ceramic coil hits really good compared to some of my other pen vapes.

Geez , I don't know why I stopped getting
alerts for this thread ...

Ya , the terras are finnicky as others have mentioned .
But it's still my dd for low temp dab hits .
I've been priming my load at 8 v and hitting at 12 v .
Will try pushing my battery to max 15 sometime .
Getting medium size TASTY clouds , when sipping 10 second
intervals . Haven't even touch any of the coil attys .

I have to do the reclaim also because of the spill overs .
It gets revaped , still flavorful as untouched .
But was hoping for a solution to resolve that .

I'm waiting for PV to get the V3 , so I'll get mine
after you guys that pre-ordered already . Really looking
forward to the quartz terras . I'm guessing it'll need
a stronger battery to heat up the coils , then heat up
the quartz . I'm currently using the Kanger Ipow 2 battery .

My "package" has been being prepared for shipment since july 1st. it is now the 21st and my v3 hasn't even so much as left the states or their facility yet. This is pretty unacceptable even considering the high demand. I regularly order products from china that get to my door faster. I don't know what is going on but I probably wont be supporting source anymore, considering the non working battery on my v2 after very limited use, and the lack of urgency to ship items. so after about 300 dollars I have a broken source v2 and a v3 that hasn't even left where it was going after being ordered almost a month ago. I tried cleaning the battery for a better connection and none of the atomizers work still, although the blue light still lights up.

My experience with source hasn't been the greatest one , at the time being i definitely would not recommend a friend buy this vape, poor customer service, finicky products and not meeting deadlines. They had on the website that they would be shipped from the first to 10th, then that changed to something later.
went out fishing yesterday and had to roll a bunch of joints instead of enjoying my concentrates even though I've paid for two sources lol. pretty dissapointed

I was disappointed in Source products as well, until I decided to get a different battery. The one they sell with their kit is nowhere near powerful enough to take full advantage of the Terra ( although it does very well with double coils ).

Furthermore a box mod , as opposed to a pen battery, will have a much better ohmmeter and be able to revive some of your "dead" coils. A few of the coils which I had completely written off were actually just fine. What was happening was that the very, very cheap ohmmeters in the pen batteries would mis-detect the resistance as being too low and refuse to power the coil. If you get "inconsistent" results where the coil sometimes power and sometimes does not, this is usually the case.

Also be aware the Terra in particular will go higher in resistance ( OHM ) as it heats up, because its a ceramic conductor. Titanium coils take a lot more heat to do this and won't do this during normal operation. So if your battery has a max resistance, it might go past that if you end up hitting it pretty hard.

The new quartz double coils look pretty interesting, I'm going to try some and see what they are like.

P.S

I am with you on the shipping, it's straight ridiculous. I like that Source tends to do the right thing in the end but wish they would get their act together on the front of the customer service process ( why you is everyone so unhelpful up front until you push them? ) and especially with their logistics ( why does it take 3 days to ship an order out guys? seriously? ). If they fixed those two things and got a better battery ( probably would have to be a box mod as most pen batteries are terrible ), they would improve their reputation by a lot.

I'm pretty new to these mods, but i have a VW mod, and was wondering what kind of adapter I would need to get the globe to fit? An ego one right?

Hi. If you recall I had some issues in the past. I want to say, after some tinkering, the source terra has got me super medicated. I was bored. I had a buncha oil. so i took apart the terra coil. i soaked it in ethanol. I dried the pieces and reassembled. i said fuckit and threw a big piece of oil in there. in the past i've always been stingy with new coils before they prove their worth to me. anyway big chunk Is working great. I dig it. the all glass mouthpiece is cool too. im ripped off this thing. cheers

Glad to hear that ,
too bad you didn't take any pics of the dissembled terra .
I've wanted to do that and find out how the electrical parts
are connected . It looks like they can be pulled out from the bottom
of the atty . I haven't soaked my used terras yet .

are the coils to heat up the terras located around the cup ? :)

anyhoo , I'm using mine at 15 v now .
It does get some very nice clouds , but still a lot
of overflow spillage that I have to reclaim from the
moat area of the connector . It also seems to create
leaks from the bottom of the atty .

Although , I do Not like the spillages and leakages .
It is still my favorite go to dd for portable dab hits .
Pure Flavor Tasty Hits ...

Does anyone have the Persei's line-up to compare
flavor to flavor to the Terras ??? :)

@SOURCEvapes
Any updates on the Quartz Terras ? :)
When will they be ready for consumption ? :)

It's so freaking easy. pull off the little metal nipple on the male end of the atty where it screws in. notice the wire coming through the middle of the rubber. i believe this is the negative terminal? the other one is inside using that stainless mesh as the contact point for the positive terminal. so push that negative terminal towards the center a hair so that you can remove the rubber bushing. this rubber bushing insulates positive from negative. now that a toothpick and push gently in the hole. a used atty will probably need to be heated for this to easily slide out. out comes the ceramic cup with mesh wrapped around it with coil in the cup and 1 wire protruding. carefully unpeel the 2 layers of mesh sandwiching the positive terminal and straighten that terminal. a little push and the donut should come right out. there may be an insulator on the negative (center) pin. If not, be careful when reassembling to make sure that center pin is coming straight through and not going to short against the inside of the stainless housing..

so that's it. soak it. make sure its COMPLETELY dry before reassembling. make sure you get a good contact on the positive terminal by ensuring it is between as least 2 layers of the stainless mesh. mesh is fragile too dont fold it or disturb it too much. good luck maybe if i clean it again after some use I'll take pics

the donut is the coil.. its NiCr encased in ceramic. terminals are soldered on the bottom. i did find the coils is more efficient with less oil if the donut is angled a bit.

just emailed them to see whats going on , well see if they will try to throw in something extra or just send it. It would somewhat make the situation better if they threw in an extra battery or some atomizers for the mistake, otherwise not going to spend anymore money on this thing. Will keep yas updated

They're probably slammed with preorders - when did you preorder yours? I got my shipment confirmation and tracking number on the 24th.

Edit: nevermind, I see that I'm dumb and your picture shows the date you ordered it; I ordered my stuff at the end of June so I would imagine there were quit a bit of preorders placed in the few days between when I ordered and you did - i'd give them next week to see if it will ship out (they just actually updated on their site the whole entire V3 kit to say that "Due to EXTREMELY high demand" there is a delay in shipping.

I already tried to get them to throw in something....but they just said sorry after changing shipping date 3 times. I ordered mine very early in July and still have nothing. Ashley from source told me that it will ship out sometime next week.

That may be doable, but seems pretty complicated to be classified as "easy". :) I typically just turn the heat way up on my box mod and burn it all off. The donut usually gets pretty clean and I find that effects taste the most. The well is always a little dirty but that has not become a problem to the point where I have wanted to disassemble and deep-clean an atty. To be honest I did just drop one in 99% ( anhydrous ) ISO , took it out, let it dry for a few hours, and it was fine afterwards ( and a little cleaner ). I think thats what Source actually recommends you do.

I *just* got a five-pack of the new Quartz double-coils. They are much sturdier than the V2 coils. They also look really cool. I'm not sure how they hit yet because I am at work, but the well is a lot deeper and looks like it could easily accommodate bigger wax balls, 0.1-0.3g in size. The slanted "lip" leading to the bowl/coil is also steeper than the previous iteration. Can't wait to give it a roll.

I haven't gotten any quartz Terras yet, but I'm thinking about it. I already have some ceramic Terras and actually I like them just fine so far.

I don't really have a camera. My phone is pretty potato quality and other available pictures on the web are much better.

The quartz double coil hits as hard as the ceramic one but tastes a bit cleaner. The "ramp up" also seems to be slightly smoother, but there's a little bit more of a delay after you hit the button before vapor starts rolling in.

The well is deeper and can fit a lot more wax. Things that used to cause some mild spillover for me now don't at all. The lip is a little bit steeper as well, and so far has kept very clean. It also seems like the two coils are a tad bit higher off the ground than they used to be, but I'm not sure if this is a result of the interior of the atomizer being made from reflective quartz.

I like it so far. Will have to see how it performs over the long haul.

cool ,
didn't know they had quartz coils or even ceramic coils .
I'm only familiar with their Ti coils .

Glad you're liking it tho , I'm trying to move away from
heated coils from actually touching my concentrates .
I've owned several pen vapes of that ilk . That is why
I'm really loving their terras .

Dabs are vapor too!
Haven't looked the Divine Tribe page for a while, just noticed the "Version 2.5 Ceramic Donut atomizer" With the "invader mini" DNA style battery. Man, that thing looks cool! Have any of you tried it? I don't like the fact that Source makes you order several attys just to get the ceramic one.
But this setup lets you get just what you want.

By ceramic , do you mean their terras ?
I can order a 5 pack of terras alone from PV .
Posted pics on the PV thread recently .

Can you tell me if there are heated coils touching the concentrates
with the Divine tribe attys ?

Yes they do , as with most attys , YMMV tho .
I see you meant on your 1st purchase of the Orb .
You have to get the assortment of coils , and then the terra .
The coils function good , and with their stock battery .

I'm just loving the pure flavor taste of my concentrates
like never before , using the terras . But you'll def. need
a stronger battery like @NorVape discovered .

Maybe someone could chime in about the Devine tribe atty ...
