Discontinued Zion vaporizer

well, had my first issue with the Zion today. Been getting great production from day 1 and even better as I refine my method. Oh, and I got my replacement 18/14 adapter, and the water tower is fantastic with the Zion (will post a vid soon if i can get off my lazy, stoned ass lol).

So today, I take the Zion to town with me for a little vehicle solitudination. Start the tunes, pop in the stem, standard heat soak then back off to my preferred starting temp and draw the tasty goodness....and nothing. Bump the temp a bit, preheat, draw...nothing. What the fuck? Pop out the stem, no herbs in the bowl. Loaded the bowl and started over, worked perfectly again. So apparently, the Zion is not effective unless you actually load some herbs in it before use.

@RastaBuddhaTao, think you can look into this?

:p

TheZionNextDoor really ties the room together. Especially when loaded with some tasty :leaf:.

So since the GB-187 has a sinking 18mm connection in the center of the can, the top "control" portion of Zion can't clear it properly with the short male to male adapter I have.

So got me looking into alternative adapters that I thought I'd share here as well:

Right angle
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141715367275
http://www.ebay.com/itm/151615529247

Bent
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181701247981

45 degree angle
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261872398860

Some short direct ones
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261843321047
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261952790903

And this cool looking one thats kinda pricey
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301679037405

There are some 14-18s too that I should probably try, so I can connect to my straight tube icepinch bong...

There's also this for a bent stem option
http://aqualabtechnologies.com/glas...apters/alt-18-mm-male-mouthpiece-adapter.html

Now just need to decide which ones to order...
Would a y-adapter/claisen work on your 187??

That is a major drawback and I call for a redesign from RBT and TKW!!!:mad::mad:

Hahaha dude you goof!

Sometimes I do get blank hits, but its usually bc of being short breathed, or not inhaling properly, occasionally need a stir or just break up load for airflow, or as it seems with a new batch of herbs just a higher voltage. Different herbs, like strains and consistencies, plus grind, can really make a difference bc of how pure the Zion extraction is. When its set up right (which is easy and mostly is) you really taste the herbs and feel full effects based on your voltage. It's just so extremely accurate and thorough with our dear leafy friend...

@ctxgooner I'm sure it would, but then it'd be like super high on top and blocking my face even more no? What's the cheapest one of those go for? Bc in the end, that's what I care most about, especially if I'm buying a few adapters either way (if only for 14-18 and the bent stem from auqalab)

Ha ha ha. Did something similar the other day. Was doing the UFO with my claisen and I couldn't get ANYTHING. NOTHING. Not even flavor. Fresh batteries. Damn.
Then I noticed the plug wasn't in the claisen. Oops...

Haha nice @ctxgooner! Double trouble...

Well it actually looks like I may have a solution after all, my buddy's 18-14mm adapter from a now busted sunshine bong is long enough for the 187 with a reducer!
prGF3Tj.jpg

Although a classen would help with the blow back that now happens if pulled without Zion on top... Oh well free is free lol now ice got more money for those curved stems from aqualab

Pulls super smooth but huge tank so takes a lot of lung power to fully cloud it but I'll be there with practice...

Now this one is another story, my friends new one from Kathy on dhgate
I09SOkE.jpg

Chamber doesn't really full bc you inhale it as you go pretty much, and so smooth you don't even know what your doing, huge exhales that you feel only right after haha

Finally gonna try this one with ice next, and for size comparison:

Ha ha. Is the Zion really that free flowing @cybrguy. lol
Yes, for the most part it is. But if I hadn't been so stoned I might have noticed that the air flow WAS a little better. Just not enough better to get past my buzz.

I really am finding I like this device more the more I use it. And that open airflow is a big part of that. I mentioned that it resurrected my 187. It also allows greater temp modulation with breath force than my other vapes, tho that is also important with the Lotus. With Venus the advantage is greater because you can more accurately set the input heat than with a torch. No plate to heat.

If you've been reading this thread and like what you're hearing about the Zion, heed RBT's words and get your order in. I've been using TheZionNextDoor daily for about two weeks now, most recently with a water tower, and I can attest that the Zion IS exactly what you've been hearing it is.

Agreed Dude, its the real deal here.

All American made, handcraft feel with top notch features and design, its got the power in spades get it can be tamed for low temps, pure materials and battery life phenomenal, its just so versatile, sessioned, on demand, with water or dry (I actually really like it dry, got the bent mouthpiece from auqalab today to try with mine. Standard glass sizing!) its just a fantastic all around vape. Personally makes me extremely glad I sold my Solo and didn't invest in a Mighty...

I'll get to my beach posts eventually too, which was semi-stealth even (not out and about, but in car and at beach house with whole family) quick powerful hits on demand and zonking sessions, and my stars the taste!

Ah hearing that really feels good. Glad you guys are enjoying the experience as we do really appreciate your candid feedback. Pretty killer FC Beta test team hah?

Let's say we throw FC some love with a lifetime warranty as well as right of first refusal on the single battery manual unit now in test...

@pakalolo, I'll drop your alpha unit in the mail tomorrow. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. We really love the technology in the 14 mm glass. 10 mm is next... How low can you go?

Looking forward to this one ... sorry just to clarify, will these be available to purchase in the eu? I know there's more hoops to jump through for you guys.

Just to clarify, what type of adapter is everyone using to hook their Zion to glass? How does this work as it appears the bowl is built into the Zion glass tubes. Thanks

I think I posted this earlier in the thread, but to answer your question:

eNlOHCc.jpg

Notice that I'm using screens in the adapters just as I would in a stem. In fact, I use the 15 cm connector on the right as my regular stem.

Already been explained but yeah, anything 18mm is fine bc basically theyre like UD basket screens (but overall better imo!). You can pop em in and out with a pen or other thing long ramrod tool (I've already suggested a paint brush type thing be included, to double as ramrod and cleaning brush, but we'll see if/when that's doable)

My little pinky just won't fit inside the Zion stems to allow me to tamp down my precious goods after I've vacuumed up a load . . . . . . . . . . . . . but Vapmans stock mouthpiece is a near perfect fit.

Happy daze! No more finger pokey!

Vapman & Zion!

Sounds like some sorta superhero team-up to me! :D

Let the testing continue . . . .

Hmmm, I always fill it to the rim to keep it as close to the heater screen as I can.

Someone asked me why I am so high on the Zion (punny) and my answer was mostly it's ease of use. It is nearly effort free. I love my Lotus, but the torch and its flame are a pain in the ass. Venus allows a one and done or as many hits as I like without waste, waiting or hassle. It really is a joy to use. I can't recommend it enough.

I'd add flexibility to that. You can easily use it to cash out a load with 10-15 small low temperature maintenance hits or 3-4 lung-busting high temperature clouds, and the 18 mm female heater bowl lets you connect to all sorts of water tools.

Yes yes I love temp stepping with Zion too, but on demand temp stepping. So I can take hits sporadically but still temp stepping, so a bowl is spread out instead of sessioned but each hit at any temp is so full bodied, even if the effects are isolated low temp headies. Sessioning can get you way too high... So better at home or before movie/activities, or on demand hits in those situations are stellar too (haven't brought Ziggy to a movie get, but might). Many times my hits are small when dry bc of my weak lungs, but even a small puff has very nice cloudage and effects, you don't need much at all here to get gone

Joy to use is right @cybrguy! I too can't stop comparing it to Daisy/Lily without a torch, the feel of the vape and the feel of the hits just have that kind of Triihouse convection signature in a way, but of course the Zion vapor signature is its own lovely beast.

I also usually pack to the top of my glass rim, but fluctuate, using all different amounts and strains. Since it vapes so thoroughly after the first few hits a full bowl will become smaller and leave more air gap, just turn up the temp and no problem (sometimes i even add some green for the last few hits of a bowl. You can take it dark chocolate or golden, and everywhere in between (and combustion is possible at upper voltage, but hasn't happened to me yet, only some slight scorching if I really push it with draw and trigger through bubbler).

And flexibility is beyond right! Easily the most versatile vape I have ever used or seen, I can never stress that enough. If you only had one vaporizer (who even does that?!) this could certainly be it and you'd never feel like you were missing a single thing from other vapes or (gasp) those who smoke pipes...

Ahhh, I see now. Nevermind then... ;)

This being my first stem based vape I'm really enjoying the suck it in method of filling the stem or the M2M adapter. Much easier than dealing with a spoon or other filling tool. It usually overfills a little leaving a convex pile that I either lightly push in or scrape off. I have tended to leave it kinda loose rather than firmly packed. So, now you have raised my interest in packing it a little tighter, and I will try that tonight. :)
