Nice idea OF, is there anything you haven't uncovered about the AA? I appreciate you sharing... wooden toothpicks, ingeniously simple, my favorite. Problem is, it's working so great now, using so little product, I can't stop vaping... is that a bad thing?

These 2 might not be pretty, but they are working very well. The one on the left is the stem with the plastic threads broken off, and about an inch of EQ tubing. On the right, it's the straight tube with Vapir Rise silicone tube section. Both are leakproof with the Vapir plastic tip, but the silicone tube had to be pushed pretty far.

The key is to use a torch and melt the broken glass. Once its cooled, you can assemble it to look like this. I bought 2 new replacements, so now I have 4 stems in rotation. I got a bent solo stem this time, works great.

By the way, this is my "finishing grinder" for vaporizers: http://www.planetvape.ca/volcano-vaporizer-grinder.html I know, it's plastic, but it works very well.

IMO, you are a lucky guy. Your stem on the right has the break in the exact area mine did.
Therefore, you can do this mod without any cutting. just the brazing that you already did.
The stem on the left (no bevelling in) might require some more enginuity.

I have been using since posting and has been working flawlessly. Also, I have now added a new piece to the mix.
It has the same oil rig atomizer as the water stem and is interchangeable.

At first when I only had the water tool one I never ever thought to try the oil rig part as it was the first thing I took out of the mix because I was interested in ego adapter to mod the Solo/Air stem. Well now that I have two I gave the oil rig a try at 10 watts with my ecig handle. It works very well with my lube made from ABV. Not the best lube for sure but with the water it's tolerable.

So for under $20 you get a water tool, oil rig (with addition atomizer), Solo/Air hybrid stem. Both usable through water or dry. How cool is that...

IMO, a good bang for the ...smash?

And with the rubber cap protecting the bowl end maybe less of those smashes.....hint hint to @ataxian.

Beats me....... Tough question, very Zen like......

I can't stop vaping... is that a bad thing?

Only if you get caught. And only sometimes then......

Glad you're happily on the path to the Palace of True Enlightenment........it's right down the road of excess before you......

In the end, if it is the bud quality, I'm going to mix it in at 10 percent or so over the next few months, or save for emergency bud. Also, smoked (not be me), by a friend of mine, who has been smoking for 30 years and is picky about quality, thinks it's top notch.

I've had this issue. Occasionally I get a strain that doesn't vape well. Generally either letting it dry out slightly or using a much finer grind seems to do the trick. I'm not sure why this is the case as to view/smell/touch the material is just as high quality as anything else.

Guys, and can someone see the first use instuction? I lost mine. Is there something about 2-3 heating cycles in highest temperature to burn off any residue from manufacturing? Or just about inserting the glass stem easier, etc? Can someone say exactly?

Has anybody had any issues with their Air not maintaining temperature very well? Lately the light has started flashing pretty much immediately as soon as I start inhaling.

I've tried a brand new battery and still have the same issue, so I'm hoping it's likely to be my Nitecore charger at fault (wrong voltage?) rather than the unit itself?

Apologies if this has already been discussed!

All of those things, plus blending with another strain, made it PERFECT. It also got me into stirring... I am now obsessed with the perfect stirring tool. Hear me out.
Here's my thoughts on the stir tool situation...

AA and a Stir Tool
The AA is a great functioning vape. For the little experience I've had, and comparisons I've been able to make with much more expensive vapes, when the AA is hitting it right, it's a very sweet tool. But another part of it's charm is it's perfect (I suppose that is relative) shape and size and far as being satisfying in a tactile while. It's great to roll it around in your hands between hit, just the right shape, weight, it feels good to hold. When smoking, I'd love to hold a doob, and even the lighter was part of the "hands on" Pavlov dog, placebo experience. It's one of the reasons the AA pulls away from the pack.

Now it's time to stir. I don't want a small device that feels like shit to hold, and it's so small and light I can't even tell if it's in my hand. I want a small "wand", with a perfect diameter pick/pin at the end (maybe 1.5 inches). I could be wood, glass , crystal, but with a cool feel, maybe six inches long and quarter inch in diameter. Something that feels nice to hold and roll around between your fingers. Now... maybe on the end opposite the pick we have a spoon / fill tool / or a place to pour the stem ABV into, then back into the stem. Like a scoop that fits the AA perfectly.

For me this would add tremendously to the experience of loading, stirring, sipping or ripping, repeat, repeat, repeat. Each load about .05 or so. I've been vaping this way with a hat-pin I picked up, and my Mighty has left it's case in days. Nothing against the Mighty, great vape, but with the right technique, the AA is pulling away.

Somebody, please make a kick as stir tool! I've been searching for the exact piece I'm looking for, maybe a hat-pin, brooch, something with crystals, beads, maybe a cross at the top. Any suggestions AA ppl?

@Superhans Have you tried the AA charger?

Great post. I'm a fan of stirring myself but I just find the whole ordeal a bit clumsy/wasteful in terms of losing material (tried both the standard stirring tool and the flowermate 'puck') so tend not to bother unless outside or its a small bowl.

I really should try the Arizer charger, the problem is I'm using the device pretty much constantly at home so I never have the opportunity. One thing I did notice is that after a 'full' charge in my Nitecore Intellicharger, I can put the battery in the air and it will continue to charge for another 15-20 minutes.

Consider more batteries (at least 4) and a second Air (puff it up has them for $169). I think I need two external chargers (wish they made a 4-pack), and 2 AA's are nice to have (one black one silver). At under $200, it keeps the system up and running, and extends life of everything. So in the end, I don't think you wind up wasting $$$, but you gotta love the Air to justify 2.

@Bravesst I've actually been in the market for a desktop for a couple of months now but I'm having trouble justifying the purchase because of how happy I am with the AA. I may just get a second head (or a Solo maybe) instead. What external charger do you use? The official Arizer model?

I almost did that when i mastered the AA. Im sure you'll lkke it. I like that i can still have my cool feeling AA, and just interchange batts on the fly.

Not good MJ but its get you medicate yet!
It looks very good strain and smells good , i have to say this herb is better to combusting, sorry but is like that!

Something strange happend to my plastic tipped stem(original).

I put it to a jar full of bongwasher mixed with water(like 95%water, 5% bongwasher, like recomended) it wasnt so dirty(i like if its clean, i think i used it 2 times before this wash. When i wanted to wash it with clear water i found that the plastic tip was broken :(

Is it possible that the Plastic tip does not tolerate the water? It was in the water 1 entire day(24 hours).
I will buy some plastic tips later, maybe some more stems too, i'm just curious about what could happen.
The stem was intact when i put it in the jar.
Any ideas/suggestions ?

I use all the Arizer stock stuff. With the replaceable batts, it's like a desktop, but the perfect size...

Don't start me on that
I broke 2 I think
Turns out I was tightening as I was using and the plastic cooled down quicker/slower than the glass, hence broke
Don't know if that's the case with you

If you mean a charger that charges four cell at once they do make them, but you have to go aftermarket.

And on your stirrer hunt I don't know how suitable these are for your needs but thought I would post them anyways, the glass one is an arizer stirrer, and the other is from my SSV, I don't stir with my air but love the feel of the glass stirrer in my hand (to play with) when using my Daisy.

I do remember @Ratchett made a stir tool that had a scoop on one end and multi tip stirrer on the other could be worth a PM.

Also these were posted a while back (can't give credit to who as I can't remember)

As something a little different.

Happy hunting.

I would guess the nitecore is charging correctly, you could check with a DMM something like this
http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-mas830b-digital-multimeter-600v/75337
Cheap and accurate (I have one and when checked against a friends metracal it was spot on)

Maybe the flashing light is down to a colder ambient temp? My sister is in Stirling finishing her PhD and I know it can get cold up there, I know when it's a bit colder here I have to let the air have a rest (10-15 seconds) between hits to keep from overloading the heater.

Something else is when it happens, if it's at the start of your session this could be normal, I find if I turn air on set temp then start loading stem, just after I finish loading the stem the light stays solid, but then when stem is inserted it can start to flash (I would guess down to the cold stem dropping temp a little in the oven)

You're spot on I think. I didn't consider the temperature but it has got a lot colder here the past week! I've had a similar issue when vaping outdoors when its particularly windy and generally got around it by letting it heat to a higher level than I wanted for a couple of extra minutes before inserting the stem and dropping the temperature.

I'm going to pick up a DMM as well though just in case. Probably worthwhile to have around in general.

If outdoors in cold weather this could be the one time I might concider using my silicone sleeve (unaltered) as under normal use it adds heat but in cold/outdoor use it might just keep things a little more normal temp wise.

And IMO a DMM is a handy thing to own (not just for the air, also great for checking if chargers are working correctly amongs many other things) just make sure to use the DC 20 setting for checking cells, personally I like to check mine before and after charging, probably a little over the top but it's a habit I got into using mechanical mods and it just stuck.

Not to beat this stirring thing to death, but I think I learned something, and was throwing away some really potent ABV. I think it's not so much the "mixing" of the herb that occurs with occasional stirring, but I started to use the AA ss stock stir tool. It's kinda makes it easy to stir shit around and not spill, while you crush (grind) herb into fine dust. It's so dry, it just crumbles. I see this as part of the "nugget" technique (correct me if I'm wrong), but even after grinding. I find that if I take the stem out every few sips, I can stir, grind, crush, and get almost endless hits off of .05 grams.

One of the keys has been invert the AA to remove the stem (batt side up). Stem will not spill, so you can stir into powder and not pack at all. Put the AA back over the upright stem, now turn right side up and let that dry herb drop to the oven floor for about 15 seconds. When I dump my ABV, there is almost no volume, and I never get popcorn if I bump up slow. Sometimes I'll make it to red, sometimes green... usually 20 plus hits (albeit some are small sips).

I use a q-tip dry, between bowls, to give the oven a quick swipe. Seems to be staying brand new, not staining at all. This could be 10X more efficient than the joints I use to smoke, and tastes amazing. Problem is, I almost can't stop vapin' if I'm sittin at my computer. I've taken to only filling a bowl every 20 or 30 minutes. This is no too hard to do, when sometimes I can stretch a bowl out for 20 minutes with just a bit of a heavy pack. :hmm::hmm::hmm:

To stretch the furthest, I also have to "pay attention"... hitting relatively often, but not too much. It becomes almost a fine art of mostly sipping, some ripping, stirring, bumping temps, taking a sip of beverage (ice cream is also unreal), but I'm a big coffee guy (tastes great with my starbucks latte).

Okay, I'll shut up about stirring and how great the AA is....

I've started to notice that as well yeah using a Nitecore i2 as my primary charger. I'll switch to only charging in the Air and see if I get different results.

I give it 5 seconds on solid blue before taking the hit and it seems to be stable then.

First of All, if you are in the USA Planetvape's price of $199 Canadian including an extra battery.

With the Currency exchange your price is LOWER than PIU and you get the battery. The code is in the PV thread under sponsors.

With regards to stirring and the tools with which to stir. I like the Glass Arizer stirring tool to tamp down my medicine inside the stem. Perfect fit.

For the broken black tip: http://arizer.com/store/en/arizer-air-parts-accessories/121-air-replacement-mouthpiece-tip.html

Hello,

After having some issues with a pen vape, I decided to get the AIR.
I got in touch with Randy last Wednesday and he sold me the AIR with spare battery for $155 (which incidentally works out to 199 CAD).
I was around to get it the minute it hit my post office Friday morning.
It's all I've been doing since. This vape is everything I read about here and more. It is very very nice.
I have some wood stems on order too.
I wouldn't say fuck combustion, but it's going to be few and far between for me now.
