Discontinued The Grasshopper

I'm really trying to stay away from this thread until someone gets an IR camera in the same room with a SS unit and a Ti unit. The fact that GHL doesn't back up their claim of the Ti's "better thermal properties" over the SS leads me to believe that the difference is negligible. My quick calcs led to the same conclusion. As did YaFreekin's analysis.

Anecdotes are nice, but I want some numbers!

So I'm curious what's so amazing about this grasshopper
For me, it's the form factor.

It looks like it can pump out the vapor pretty nicely, and because of the form factor, it should be pretty stealthy :D

There's been a hole in the market for quite some time for a proper pen vape for herb - the grasshopper looks like it.

So I got my new hopper one thing I noticed after my first use. The airflow is better than both my first units.

I have already sent the faulty one back so hopefully we hear about that one.

I wonder if a blockage in your previous heaters caused the issue with your last two units. It could explain airflow, longer heat up time and maybe the purple lights (I think that was one of your issues). If the heater manufacturer is rushing through production to meet demand that could be a likely point of failure.

On 4th I sent Trevor (trevor@grasshoppervape.com) an email to change the color of my GH, two days later he replied and did it for me.

I got email confirm on my color change months ago but my order does not reflect the new color on the grasshoppervape.com website. Did yours get changed on your order if you view the order status? I have this fear they will ship mine with the wrong color. I figure I'll wait for my address confirm email to verify but I'm curious if I should see it changed online.

I specifically asked Trevor about this in my email (if the color change would show up in my order status in the website), and it did changed.

Mine was changed immediately, you should email Trevor and bring it to his attention

No, just like most I'm waiting for my GH.

Even if I had tested both, due to negligible differences in the vapor path there won't be a difference. The chamber is wrapped in some type of insulator, which tries to keep the chamber at a consistent temperature. Around this insulator there is the SS chamber, then an air gap, then the threaded mouthpiece(which is SS or Ti depending on the model). The overall thermal conductivity of the SS & Ti will be very close because the insulator will be the dominant factor.[My description of the GH heating chamber is based on what I can see from info gathered online, as I have not see the GH in person]

There will definitely be differences on how the unit overall dissipates heat, but the vapor path are too similar for there to be tangible differences.

Without GH providing the thermal properties of all the materials used, an exact analysis cannot be made.
Ive been a huge fan of the Inhalater.... but have been keeping a very close eye on the GH progress...
I can tell you from experience with the aforementioned who was changing all sorts of thermal properties to their chamber as well as the body materials..... each and every time the vapor production was affected in some way.... vapor path never changed nor did any of the electronic components.... and yet every revision was producing slightly differing results.....
I totally believe the other gentlemen's comments about the flavor.... in fact he seems quite knowledgeable.. a bit flip and funny here and there.... likes to write and talk I'm certain.....
I think I would wait until you can check it out for yourself before being so quick to dismiss something purely based on in not making any sense to you..... just sayin....

Because of his observation... I am leaning towards the TI..... Dark Grey has my eye.....:brow:

So I'm curious what's so amazing about this grasshopper

  • Form factor
  • Heat-up time
  • 3D-printed heater
  • Wait-time for availability since original announcement (not as long as that for the miVape at least!)

You forgot 30-45watts of power!
Plus pure convection,
User replacable batteries,
Usb charging,
Precise temp control

It's the whole package that makes it so incredible, many vapes have one or more of these features, but none have all and in such a sexy package at such a reasonable price...

Trying to upgrade my early bird to a TI using "custom@grasshoppervape.com" but haven't gotten a response. I'm sure Trevor's busy but could someone repost his latest contact info?
TIA
Trevor has a new email address, I similarly emailed him on the 4th and never heard back. The custom@grasshoppervape.com is not longer in use, he now uses trevor@grasshoppervape.com. He emailed me back immediately upon sending in the request this morning.
Edit: didn't see earlier response, can delete.

Yep, everyone switch your orders to Ti, then there will be more SS ones available and maybe I'll get mine sooner!!

And then suddenly people with VAS and deep pockets will shoot for both and you're back in the line farther than ever. Whomp whomp.... Jk

That's actually a great insight, never thought about it myself. While it was just the software and very minor changes, there was certain versions of the Inhalater that outshone the rest (RIP XP v2) while the actual unit stayed the same.

But I like it!
I'm another Inhalater fan, and the GH certainly seems to have a lot of similarities. MiniVAP is also similar in a larger footprint. GH looks like a fast modern update in a stealthy yet high tech footprint.

Is it worth buying? I sure hope so! :)

I have herbalizer, crafty, mighty, many vapes you think grasshopper is worth buying
Absolutley! I also own and love those 3 vapes and they are all great but the Grasshopper is also good, for different reasons. Its by far the most portable and fastest so I think the Grasshopper is the best choice for portability and with how it operates, makes it the most efficient portable unit and the most convenient. It may not have quite the flavor or smoothness as the Crafty or Mighty but it's pretty damn good and it makes up for that in other ways.....

I think it's worth it for sure, especially considering its cheaper. I love the Inhalater and I have owned a MiniVap and they are similar to the GH and they all have certain advantages but I think the GH Is the best choice out of the 3 for portability, ease of use, efficancy, convieniece, fastest heat up and durability. The MiniVap isn't that mini and the Inhalater's capsule needs to be packed more to get the best results but they are both great vapes. They all ultimately do the same thing but they all have something different to offer so if you can afford to have a few, that's the way to go but if i had to choose one vape for all of my portable needs then, I would probably choose the GH.

Finally got to try out one of these last night as one of my long distance friends was an early backer and has had his for a little bit now. I really wish I could say I was impressed with it but I was not. Mouth piece got hot to fast and the vapor quality was good but nothing to write home about and oddly enough we wernt getting very full extraction of the goodies... I was expecting a lot more based on the reactions to the hopper in this thread.
