Are clouds of vapor counterproductive?

Either the MFLB I used was broken or I am incapable of properly using an MFLB no matter how much reading on how to use one I do. I was visiting my parents and one of my buddies let me use his MFLB and power adapter while I was in town. Sat down for a good two hours one night just trying to get high with it and I couldn't do it. Tried a grind as fine as sand, tried sipping it, breathing through my nose and letting that pull in vapor, etc. Could never get a satisfying hit and always ended up with a roasted bowl and an extremely unsatisfied feeling.

I can't decide, I get buzzed and happy with those little hits from my MFLB and I get buzzed and happy with my LSV. I will have to settle for both, a win, win.

I'm the same way. No vapor or a ton of vapor I'm still getting the best high in years. Wonder what the correct answer is and if a study is soon to come. Cause I am extremely curious. We already know it's better for you. Haha

Here's something else to consider, I think. Cloud production is usually temperature dependent, right?

We know that we get a different cannabinoid profile at higher temps than we do at lower temps. We also know that that cannabinoid profile changes as we vape down the bowl. A fresh bowl will give us one profile, while a bowl that has been hit a few times will give us a different profile. So, when you add the different temperatures or even the same temperatures to the life of a bowl with varying cloud productions, we well get different profiles. Add to those variables, the variable of how our individual minds and bodies react to any given profile and I believe that it becomes pretty apparent that there is more than one answer to the question that was originally posed in this thread, eh?

So...........the moral of the story is..........who gives a fuck. Vape your bowl how you enjoy vaping your bowl. For some, clouds will be wasteful. For others, they won't be wasteful at all.

/thread ;)........or, keep it going just for conversations sake.

hate it when I see people take huge dabs and blow it out within five seconds and all those vapors are poof gone. When youre dealing with concentrates and vaporization it's all good. hold it in. we arent smoking here. youre not going to magically suck in all the goodies and blow out all the bad shit get real if that was true we would have perfect health and lung cancer would not exist. if anything i would say you are blowing out more goodies than baddies when you exhale a vapor hit

I feel for ya Jared...It must be really frustrating. My first vape was the MFLB and within a week I had learned not to underestimate the lack of vapor trails, knew my 'draw requirement' for a decent buzz was 4 to 5 hits and of course, had figured out how to grind to a 'powdery' consistency. Not sure why you're not getting where you need to be with the MFLB. Could it have been the herb? If you turned the trench a nice dark brown and maybe had a few black specks as well at the end you should have gotten happy.

Damn, you guys are going to make me read this shit from the beginning. Oh well. To good not to.

I guess the short version is that it takes 2-5 seconds for the hit to be absorbed and most econonomical and efficient method is to fill the lungs with enough vapor where you are not breathing out dragon clouds but that there is visible vapor and to use rebreathing (Take hit exhale a little vapor, inhale fresh air, exhale a little vapor for a total of 4 phases.

So I am saying with one good hit you will exhale it in 4 separate blows.

Not my experience, but I have swimmers lungs (>7.5L, require 2 xrays due to size). I definitely notice more medication when I hold for as long as possible, and frequently use the rebreathing technique as well. Unfortunately, it's just not a science.

I too will have to read the entire thread.

It definitely is waste. You're exhaling cannabinoids. If you exhale that cloud from your lungs into someone else's, they will feel effects from it. That's proof enough that some of the chemicals are being wasted by being blown into the air.

Is it "counterproductive"...That depends on what's counterproductive in this sense. If you are able to exhale huge clouds of vapor, that means you also had those huge clouds in your lungs, and likely absorbed a lot of the chemicals anyway, so you'll still get stoned.

Yes we have heard about that; to shotgun a hit to your friend and they will get high. But I wonder what percentage of the original hit will be transferred over? 25%? Thats the number that comes up to mind

For me that has always been the "Golden Question".

For maximum efficacy [Getting fucked up] and conservation of weed [Saving money on weed] than

1) What is the optimum amount of vapor to inhale (size of the hit)
2) What is the optimum amount of time to hold it in versus blowing it out and hitting it a second time. We know that as we are holding Hit 1 that at the same time we are losing Hit 2 (because it is burning up in the bowl and evaporating into the atmosphere as we hold Hit 1).

For me this is the Golden Question. I like hyper-miling in my car and squeezing out the maximum mpg in gasoline usage.

Its just fun to find maximum efficiency and I would like to find it when it comes to my vaping as well

Gee, I feel like such a smuck. I hit it, exhale whenever and if I am not there I hit it again. I guess I need a stopwatch.

HAHA

Might I suggest an atomic clock to ensure utmost accuracy. I think if you went with a standard stopwatch you'll quickly observe the inaccuracies of that design leading to premature exhalation, which over time will certainly lead to a compound loss of cannabinoids.

Personally, I'd suggest exhaling your hit into a short path fractional distillation unit so those wasted terpenes and cannabinoids can be simply recovered.

or blow it into a volcano vaporizer bag and let it accumulate on teh insides for reclaim later... not sure how much "waste air toxins" will be collected along with the active compounds.. I'm sure we breathe out quit a bit of toxins each time along with the vapor.. I've seen reports of people breathing vapor exhuast into the bag and then passing the bag= yuk! better to use the reclaim from accumulated vapor probably?

There's emotional value to thick vapor too, not just cannabinoidal value! Subjectively there's no such thing as 'waste' if you get legit satisfaction out of seeing that vapor come out of you. One of the most satisfying things for me is blowing out a big cloud without coughing. That's gotta count for something! I used to mess with party balloons and recycling my hits until I realized it's too big a pain in the ass and not worth it at all. I'm getting lightheaded just thinking about it.

just legalize right?!? and anyone can grow all the cannabis they want and use it as mulch or fertilizer....

My two cents:

1. I'm convinced that the majority of visible vapor is water vapor or steam, not gas-phase cannabinoids and terpenes. The vast majority of plant biomass is water, vaping uses temps well above boiling, just seems like a straightforward conclusion to me.

2. I personally believe that it only takes a few seconds to absorb active ingredients, but aside from that, I'd prefer to "waste" a minute amount of cannabis than rebreathe or hold in oxygen-depleted air, already diluted with vapor. I'm not vaping diamond dust, it's just fucking weed.

I think this hits the nail on the head, stone cold. Only instructions required are "use until happy".
