A very special day yesterday.
On Medicare for the duration as my 65th is in June. This "socialized" medical care still costs me $160/month cash out of pocket but all the top end stuff, if ever necessary, is covered. I will not lose the place if Zaplady or I get sick.
We got totally caught up on all orders(over 650), including shipping, for the first time since the new storefront rolled out July 15th of last year. That was a wonderful feeling. It only lasted for two hours but it was fun. Needless to say, no Zaps out til next week. We're going to be farmin' and playin' for a few days.
Thanks again to all the FC members and lurkers. You keep us at home, in Heaven on Earth.

Hmm, I think it should come out as a plug when all done. If not, there is some goodness left. I've blown out the stem (as a plug), crushed and reloaded only to get minimal vapor if any at all.

And the abv bag is perfect. It fits in my pocket, you can't do that with a bottle or jar (well, not easily). I also have kids so the less "stuff" I have sitting around the better.

yeah, the bag does make it even easier.
but i find that I can blow out the plug into my small abv cannister pretty easily too, and that way I don't need something extra for when I break out the log vapes.

Running super low for the first time in a while, shoulda broken out the logs a day or two ago.

Do the muslin bags give off any smell from the abv? Does anyone store the bag in a separate jar after use?

a muslin bag if thin can let smells through. keep it in a small ziplock of similar size.

Yeah, I did say that, because it was a bit easier to explain, but actually, I empty it out periodically into this:

I figure that if it's already been vaped bud, that there's no need to keep it in an airtight container, and apparently, it's proved out to be true, for me, because even though my ABV is a VERY uniform dark brown, 2gr in a firecracker does me just fine.

This is what I use for my at home abv bag. A buddy of mine made it out of elk leather and sinew. Its nice because it doesn't stink like the muslin bag after being used a lot.
Im currently putting my muslin bag (the one I use when I go out) through the washing machine, obviously emptying it beforehand. Ill report back on if the smell goes away.

That's really weird. My muslin bag hardly smells at all. As a matter of fact, I actually have to put my nose actually on it and even then, the smell is so feint that I really can't be sure if I am smelling anything at all. And this is with ABV in the bag.

I added a borasilicate mouthpiece (to provide tiny mouth opening, for draw differential) and a length of
SSV tubing (which has been gradually decreasing).

I did this to provide coolness through distance, as I perfect my packing technique(repeatedly).
Not recommending it .. just showing a practice/learning tool I'm using.
It does increase the draw audibly, and does give a good hit!

Vito, that looks a lot like the silicone tubing Rick used to supply. I like the addition of the mouthpiece though. Makes a nice whip. :tup:

Is the mouthpiece to a different vape or one you found?

They are the standard borasilicate Glass mouthpiece that comes with the SSV. They sell them in a few places. I think they are 5.95 at 7th floor, and come in all colors.
When you buy the 19.99 (or whatever they charge at your favorite place)SSV wand/whip set that is what comes on it.
They are less money other places, but ask specifically... and I point them to an image of the set, when I ask.
They were not listed individually at Vapeworld, but the image of the mouthpiece was clear, SSV wand/whip set and they had them in stock. They were 1.50 at the time, so I bought a dozen!
The silicone tubing was a cutting from the official SSV tubing sold in 3 ft lengths, but I also use food grade silicone from the plastic company, sold from the roll in any length you ask for.

Do you notice discoloration where you put the stem into the bag? Well, Ive got to say the color of the bag is a much more pure white in color after cleaning, and the smell is gone. The smell is most noticeable when its been in my bag; I open the pocket its in, and instantly it reeks of abv. :2c:

lwien, how often do you have to empty your muslin bag? Im assuming you are using the one that comes with the PD (so we can make a scientific comparison :lol:

). Mine gets full about once a week and I empty it into a big mason jar that is getting a bit full, still havnt tried baking yet. These little bags can hold a lot, the first time I had to empty a full one I put it into the little jar I used to use for my surfer abv. It filled it to the top, so now it just goes directly to the big one.

I really don't see the attraction with the muslim bags for abv. They just seem messy and smelly. I use mason jars of various sizes. When I do vape out, it's with the LB and I have a little 1" dia. tin from specialty glass that works perfectly and fits into the tin or a pocket easily. To have a muslim bag full of smelly abv sitting around the house or warming in my pocket sounds less than appealing to me. :shrug:

and......the whole reason I came on to post.........

the appeal of the muslin bag is that if you use a jar or bowl, you can blow back ABV when you blow out the plug from the stem. I tried to avoid this by blowing the plug into my fist, but that was hit or miss. the bag is porous and air flows, so when you blow out the plug into the bag nothing scatters, and you dont lose a drop.
the abv bag is strictly a log vape stem clearing tool!

Oh vito, I know about the blow back you can get from abv. I call it an abv baptism. :lol:

I just don't like the bag thing. I prefer to just aim at the side of the jar and have not had one problem with that method. No scatter, no waste, no mess. And I can put the cap on the jar and then there's no smell. All a matter of personal preference. There's no "right" way to do this.

I actually use (except for with the Zap stem) a desert dish. I pour that at every days end into a Mason jar (minus what I eat from the dish during day).
I have not gotten my muslin bags in the mail yet, but they will be strictly for use with the Zap stem.

Your assumption is correct and I empty it about once a month.

We did not know that lwein, so glad you clarified.

As often mentioned, we prefer a 4 oz or so bottle with a neck for ABV. The stem tip fits the neck perfectly, especially using a finger to help the seal while letting air escape when blowing out the ABV. It is then in glass for easy pour out into whatever. No stinky either. yuk to bag.
Thanks for the BD wishes. Just another day but I get to be in charge today. We also just had our 45th anniversary.

I've never had any mess nor is there a smell. Like Lwien, I have to put my nose to the bag to smell anything. My wife has never mentioned any smell (and she would tell me).

I use the lid of the tin that came with my MFLB. I use some cheap medical tweezers to circle around the tube, give it a tap, and i'm golden. After a few tubes, I then transfer the ABV to a standard medical-grade plastic pop-top container. When it's packed full, I will transfer to a mason jar and add 91% iso

Mom, did you hear Bootsy is on tour again (I think it's been over a decade, maybe close to two)? He's not coming near me but I did see him back in the mid 90s. Loudest concert I've ever been to.

I did not. However, I am hoping to go see George Clinton and Parlament Funkadelics next Friday here in Detroit. I have to do some serious shuffling of my schedule first. Apparently, Bootsie isn't giving the Motor City any love on this tour.
