Has anyone used these style of gauzes with the Lotus? Looking for alternatives to the standard gauzes as they clog up way too quickly for me.

Just for shits and giggles I've been using cheap drugstore ronson butane in one of my cheap "power" brand torches for the last few months and it's still working fine, i notice no difference between that torch and the ones I fill only with newport/iolite butane. YMMV, FYI.

Yeah not my metal Honest Sleek torch that came with my Lotus. Started with Ronson butane - torch worked like shit. Kept sputtering out on me. Stepped up to some "Neon" 4x filtered butane and found the performance was much better

Hi, yes I have a few of those. I use it mainly for the WPA with good results.
In the pipe I've been using them with a regular screen on top of it. Still have to give a try with the gauze only, but I don't want to get grinded herbs in my mouth. Using a c-clip is necessary to maintain the gauze.
Thanks to @Pipes

That is all I use in my WPA w/ D20. Works perfect when held down with a clip. I've actually never had to even take it back out.
I use Powdered Brewery Wash to clean my D20. While the D20 is soaking, I put the WPA in place and add a little extra water to the stem to make the solution come up over the bowl rim. 30 minutes later the D20 and bowl + screen are golden.....
The clip should be made of a non-gassing metal like stainless steel. The one @Bvapst and myself used is surgical stainless which are actually made as cheap nose rings.
I would never go back to the constant cleaning now. Even in the pipe, not a big problem with me. The odd piece of grit doesn't bother me so...no biggy.

EDIT: Found my eariler post about the screens here.

I am interested in this piece of glass by grav labs.

http://aqualabtechnologies.com/scie...rav-labs-glass-8-arm-stemless-tube-green.html

Was wondering if anyone has tried this or would know if the wpa and cap would fit. The stemmed version is angled with more space for the lotus cap, but I really like the stemless version. It also appears to be 14mm.

Also, is aqualabs known to be a reputable seller?

Thanks for any help.

:hmm: Sorry I'm confused, where do you fill the water?

Aqualabtechnologies is a reputable seller. Although they only sell expensive name brand stuff (no knockoffs on that site!).

If you're new to glass and looking to save some money, I suggest you check out the the glass section of this website - we have a LOT of affordable glass to choose from (probably better for a glass newbie).

Personally, I still enjoy the Lotus + WPA + J-Hook configuration. If I want some water filtration I either add an inline ash-catcher or a pinch of water to the j-hook itself (natural perc action).

Thanks Ratchett, I have been a searcher and occasional commenter here. I have appreciated many of your posts.

I have gone the route of searching through the cheap bubbler glass thread and others. I know a guy named Steven is very popular with the cheap chinese glass folks right now. I have been hesitant because I hear that this purchase of glass from China leads to your purchase being "noted" by some authority somewhere. Due to that reason, I have tried to find threads on cheap glass of any nationality that can be bought within the usa and not monitored as closely. I was looking at pipesdaddy but they seemed to close down.

So the next thought was just pony up a bit more cash for a thick piece of glass that will last me. Grav labs seems to be reputable and I thought the price looked good for what you get in 4mm thickness.

"Sorry I'm confused, where do you fill the water?"
Hell if I know. That would be half the fun of buying it.

Whoo! Got my Lotus about 2 hours ago. I've done about 4 half or less bowls, and I think I've got my basic technique down. The second bowl combusted, but the third was fine and on the fourth I managed an even extraction just slightly less than my EQ on 420(threw the last bowl into the EQ and got just a tiny bit of vapor). I am very pleased.

Just keep that torch moving! After the first 3 second preheat, I start moving my torch constantly - circular motion, adjusting distance from plate to control temperature

I did all that from the beginning, but what really seemed to make a difference was something I couldn't remember anyone saying which was I was originally holding my lighter flame entirely vertical to the plate, but it seems to work better holding it at more of an angle

I do that too, but be careful - some torches with a lot of plastic around the nozzle will melt from the heat splashback

Hmm...mine feels like the nozzle is all metal, though cheapish feeling. Edit: I am also using a slightly smaller flame size than the manual suggested.

Thanks to all the good reviews of the lotus and you guys, I bought it with the wpa.
And guess what, I love it! Took a couple of bowls to get it right but by now I get nice milky rips. This thing is perfect for bong smokers who want to make the switch to vaping.

What do you think would the cap fit on this dhgate piece? I like the look of it but I'm afraid there might not be enough space for my new love the lotus :\

@BabyFacedFinster ~ I'd skip that 8arm piece. Lotus is a big hitter, but also delivers every bit of flavor you could hope for. While water cooling is nice and smooth, diffusion is a real flavor killer.

My fave for the last two years, in spite of all my other glass, has been Sheldon Black Travel Bubbler with L-arm mouthpiece for better viewing and separating the torch from my face. Flavor is awesome, not too much diffusion but cools excellently... fully breaks down for easy cleaning too.

Day 2 with the Lotus starting well. This thing is brilliant. It just feels rewarding to use. Haven't accidentally lit a bowl again yet, though there was a bowl that got inordinately brown. My fault entirely, as I apparently do not know when to stop. I've continued testing every bowl in my EQ after I put it through the Lotus, so soon I will hopefully be able to train myself to extract to my desire without a lot of thought.
