Discontinued The Sublimator

Anyone else almost get offended reading through other threads and seeing people talk about how dense the vapor is? I've watched Damn near every milkshot on the thread and seen tons of log vape vids, evo, herbalizer, etc, and the vapor is just not the same.. I'm not saying the sub is better than any of those vapes, but it's annoying to constantly read about "white walling " with a can half full of water and I can completely see every bit of the down stem. I never hit my sub with water and I can never see any bit of my downstem during the height of the hit. My og sub was with @JCat For about a year. And with me almost 9 months. Still going strong! Hardest hitting vape. End of story. Og subs for life!!-

Tired of drawing a white line on your temperature dial? I was too, here is my digital touch screen Sublimator. For those interested, I made a guide on how I did it.

Is that u shape piece so you can use a whip with it? If so how well does that work?
Yes, well, actually it's dual purpose. It's called a "Glass Double Bowl Y Adapter" I got it from plantetvape for under $20. I can put the whip from my Extreme Q in there, then I need to put my hand/stopper on the mouthpiece of my bong so that the airflow just comes from the sub. Using the whip is a little hard on the throat, but it's makes passing around in a group sesh a lot easier. The other use of it, is that I take out the whip, and put a glass stopper in it's place. I can use the stopper as a carb to clear the bong without ever having to lift the sub out of the piece.

If you want to use a whip, I have a better method to recommend for you, I just switched pieces to this, and it is the best partner to the sub I've found yet. It comes with both the whip and a mouthpiece, so you can use whatever you prefer. Unlike what was in my picture, this can be used with water to cool the hit. The base is real thick and stable too I don't worry about it tipping like some other bubblers I've used.

Does anyone have experience with the UFO?

The UFO or "key chain kit" or "campground/campfire" unit is what I own, it rocks. Buddy has the electric unit to compare. When used properly, it is as potent as the electric sublimator. Propane torches sold at hardware stores for plumbing work the best because theyre so hot. Ive modified my atomizer to have a smaller diameter and it is such an efficient flash vape. Such insane clouds.

One note about the sublimator's performance and effect, does anyone else find that the effect is quite headdy even with CBD heavy strains?? I have other great vapes to compare to and the sub is the only one that does this... Oxygen deprivation maybe??? hahahaha

I'll try to answer anything else i've missed that you may have questions about the UFO...

My theory is the cbd/cbn has a tendency to gather more than the thc does in the sublimate, giving one a thc-heavier hit from a given flower than you would get from most other vapes :hmm::shrug::sherlock:

Thats a good way to put it, and in theory it does make sense. Whatever it is, I always found that effect was definitely prominent only with my sub. most of my other vapes is quite the opposite, especially the e-nano and buddha. They are little couchlock machines regardless of strain

Right, and the converse benefit of this uniqueness is the sublimate is great for bedtime:zzz:

Received my SS Apollo Sub XLR 2.0 about 2 weeks ago. I took 2 separate hits and it basically set it aflame. I hooked up a test meter and the controller unit wasn't doing ANYTHING. I mean it didn't even shut off the unit without pulling the cord. Drawing constant 45v, so running full blast.

Sent it right back via express, 15 bux out of pocket. The Subliminator people have been pretty helpful but the quality control for a brand new product costing close to a grand is atrocious.

My warrantied unit is in the mail via REGULAR post.
No rush I guess, they saved themselves 5$ on postal charges.
Almost 3 weeks from spending over 1000$ CAD to get a working product.
I read through most of this post so, I had really LOW expectations.

These guys need a competitor in the market.
The subliminator has great potential but is very pricey for what it is...
machined stainless and a heater with controller.

Unfortunately, :horse:my friend. I'll promise you this, the longer you have it while working, the less and less you'll care about enrico's customer service/business philosophy.. After having my sub nearly a year and swearing to never pay this company for a vape, if mine were dead for good, it'd be EXTREMELY difficult for me too not shell out for a replacement now. This vape is extremely "niche" as someone put it earlier in the thread. It's designed as the biggest hitting vape there is. Not for extreme flavor, not meant to session. For getting the biggest hit possible, sub delivers in spades. Unfortunately for us consumers, they're the only company interested in this type of extraction it seems. Until a company comes up with the glass on glass sub and decent customer service, and general public relations, the sub is what we have. It is what it is. Honestly I'm content. :2c:

The og sublimator had great promise, but too many versions, accessories, and imho the low-voltage "improvements" of the 2.0 version took away from that. Maybe they should have focused on working out the kinks of that og unit instead, like (for example) getting a modular reliable repairable controller, and figuring out what screen to use in the atomizer (they never did either of these things, but I did on mine). But they went in a bunch of other directions, idk how profitable. They seem to run the business like a hobby.

I'm just using my sub again, since the sub room is in disarray it's been a while. One other peeve I've always had is regarding the leaky atomizer. I have never been able to screw it together tight enough to keep it from leaking through the threads which is rather messy. Since there isn't ever a need to unscrew it, I have been thinking of dropping some solder or some kind liquid metal to seal it up permanently. Did they ever fix this issue in later atomizers? This is separate from the teflon bushing (keeping it in place) issue, which doesn't bother me nearly as much even though they are at least tangentially related.

edit: Next time I boil it out I will use some teflon plumber's tape, that should do the trick without affecting my atomizer or anything else permanently. But I'm still open to other ideas...

Mine does the same,i even tried to tighten it with some tools which did not stop the leaks. At least its leaking sublimate though lol.As for using solder i am not sure if thats a good idea as solder does and can give of fumes when heated.

I had to use 2 pair of big vice grip but protected the down stem / and atomizer with rubber to tighten made up when it was new,,, but now with all the sublimate that has gone thru it I doubt it will ever come unscrewed...

How do you bowl it? Does it come clean? I just keep poking mine thru and it keeps dripping but it would be nice to really be clean again.

After you boil yours what about a little sublimate on the threads and tighten with some big pliers...

Sometimes I think sublimate could fix a hole in a boat if it had to

I just simmer it in water with just a touch of pbw, for a couple of hours and it cleans up good. Mine is really screwed together good with vise-grips as well, but I have confidence I can get it apart (back burner tho).

How do you guys clean the black carbon gunk that has stuck onto the nail after lots of dabbing? I tried soaking in iso overnight it didn't seem to work so well. Last night I just took my dab tool and scraped the hell out of it to get it all off but pretty sure that scratches it like crazy so I don't want to do that again and ruin my newer sub already. Thanks for any input, have had my titanium nail for a month now, loving the carb cap. Only problem is its very dirty now and I don't want to scratch it to shit.
