Advanced E-cig users and oil/wax, how-to "one-hitter-quitter"

Going back and forth on one of these alpha's. I still love the ole faithful dabbler though. This will work on my svd until I choose a temp control option won't it? I assume much stronger hits from this too, when compared to the dabbler?

I ordered one of these, all these outfits are in China anyway. Thirty eight bucks - shipped?

I wouldn't mind paying say 20% more from a US address, but anyway, this here's the best price so far.

Can someone please advise
a good pair of wires to order to be winding my first TempCon coils, maybe one gauge in nickel and another in titanium?

I have been using spider silk 26 gauge to and it seems to work well. I also have 28 gauge ni200 but sadly TC doesn't work with oil on the IPv4 though p4u is supposed to release an update so hopefully it might work after the update.

I have been using the micro coil inside rxw that @2clicker came up with. I really like it!!! I have put 3 grams of oil through it and almost zero splatter/waste.

@2clicker As far as the LED goes, I'm gonna modify it as desired anyway. So what type/gauge Nickel wire would you suggest to start with? 28 gauge Ni200 ? Thinner? Thicker?

That stumpy looks nice ! Where from?

For nic-style e-cig use I still can't find anything much better than a Tobeco SvoeMesto V4 clone atop a simple mechanical mod, like a SIMPL. I'm such a vape hog I buy my VG in gallon bottles. No, VG doesn't make a concentrated stable blend with erl worth a rat's ass. Yes, Virginia, there are people cramming square pegs into round holes ... and proud of it.

Well, I managed to loose my itaste vv 4 already. This seems like a good time to get a TC device. I am thinking about building a sx350j with a single 18650 in a tiny 3d printed case. This could turn into a pricey project though. Other than the evolving chips, are there any other affordable TC boards I should be looking at?

Some of the $40-$80 TC devices look like decent picks. Has anyone found a good one they would be ok with carrying around in their jeans pocket all day? I see some small ones out there, but they are either 200 bucks or I can't find anyone who has used them.

i was also looking into building a custom SX350j until users here reported the dry coil warning being troublesome for use with solid errl. if you using liquid its good to go. shatter and waxes not so much. from what i gather when you load a dab and fire it that you will get the dry coil warning and the devices stops firing.

if you go back a page you will see a post of mine with a list of small TC devices. none over $80 with most around $50-60.

im eyeing up that kamry 60w TC myself, but it only does TC with nickel wire.

plus you can always wait a week or so and a few new options will suface.

One way to go is to buy a cheap Chinese unit containing a pirated chip/board, shred it and rip out the guts, then install the useful parts into a snazzier enclosure (made from endangered species).

That dry coil warning wasn't mentioned in connection with the Kang Xin VF 50W. Their little video clip also shows it operating against a dry cotton wick OK. So which chips perceive an oiled coil as a dry coil? How do they do it? Is it just how the temp behaves, or conductance, or what?

What chip, or clone of a chip is working well for you guys?

Well, I'm VERY strong in the Shred & Rip Out phase, aided by GuangDong soldering techniques, but a little weak in the Install Into Snazzier Enclosure stage. My current shredded chips & boards include eGo-Twists and a HeatVape Defender. My target enclosures so far are little cardboard boxes and plastic bags, but one of these days I'll find out what is "working well for us guys". I mean, the concept IS sound.

yeah i think only the YiHi TC chips have this warning. im not sure exactly but i imagine that a coil submerged in juice will heat up slower than a dry coil. and that the chip can detect that and shut it down. totally guessing.

a postless RDA? nope... this is completely the right thread. checking it out now.

EDIT* i am going to have to try one of these. my only concern is residual errl buildup getting into the holes in the deck. but postless? please share your thoughts on this when you get yours!

im using a joyetech evic vt and its pretty great. the chip is proprietary and im not sure if its avail by itself.

Ego twist eh? Nice to see another one rocking the low power. Those things are really pretty stout and will fire barely sub ohms coils with gusto. I only replaced mine so I'd have a passthrough.

Really, low power and high mass coils is cheap temp control.

@2clicker I been looking for RDA to fit a 12mm ceramic cup then I can get away from using gaskets and pins to hold the -/+ leads. I saw that it included airhole covers and tubes. MY plans are to build Ni200 3mm fc2000 coil in a KISS AC dual coil ceramic cup. Place the cup in the evil monk.

About .05 gram of live resin. EVIC VT setting 580F 30watts. Amazing Sessions for the past month.

I wish w9 would make the AC base similar to their 1701 base with a locking nut connections but larger ID for the dual coil cup! I'm on my 3rd atty now and the connections could be improved to say the least. I got tired of dicking with the wires inside with that rubber insulator trying to make contact. I think this may be the issue with the Evic jumping out of TC mode.

I pulled an AC apart just now and stuck the cup and coils in my RDA. Nice solid connections. My globe fits over the top. Time to test!!

Let us know if that ceramic AC cup fits inside the lid of that evil monk!

BTW, W9's ti2 wire is freaking insane to try and wrap a coil. It just springs back on me and wont hold it's shape, maybe I heat to heat it once first and anneal it?. wtf. lmao,

Titanium will work harden when you bend it, but if you anneal it it can get pretty weak. I would say annealing is worth a try, but you might try to find a way to tie your coil in place.

I am seeing very little mention of the Eleaf iStick around here. I see there is a 40w TC version in stock in the US. I would rather have a removable battery, but this thing is TINY.

The istick 50w has some bad history of auto firing and blowing up. People tend to stay away from eleaf products.
