So i've bought the Alfa and i'm not convinced, i'm starting to thinki got a faulty device. If i put like 0.1 in the Alfa bowl i get a couple of hits but almost no clouds, i've tried finely grinded and loose grinded herbs. Packed it tight, packed it loose. Changed herbs, packed it full etc.

After a session i can feel i'm a little high but when i put the AVB in my Crafty i still get 5 decent hits. The strange thing is that the Alfa runs on the max temperature and my Crafty just on 195c. I tought this was a cloudmaker but i think i'm spoiled by the Crafty. Does someone know if i'm doing anything wrong?

Yeah you must have a faulty unit. I put in 0.05g, and on medium temp I get huge clouds. Maybe its just your weed, but maybe its a faulty unit. Is it getting hot? Is it turning brown? Try drawing slower, not as fast as you do on your crafty.

I feel like the motto of this thread should be "If your alfa isn't blowing you away with no effort, you probably have a bad one".

Vapoz, you have a bad one. There is no voodoo to getting great results from the alfa.

hello, new to the forum :)

just got my first vape 5mins ago, goboof alfa.

but, i got a problem, manual says battery comes pre loaded.
mine was not pre-loaded, just started to charge the thing.

i read that you can use while charging, seems my unit isnt cappable
of doing so.

when i put it in any position high/med/low/af/ap no lights at
all come on.

the only visible feedback i get is while charging in "off" position,
just the red light.

any ideas ?

I would let it charge for about 5 hours before using it for the first time. Also, to use it while charging, I think it needs to be about 25 percent charged first.

josemembreno,
thanks for your reply, i was kinda panicking :) .
so, it`s waiting time for now , argh.

Modnote: back to back posts merged

couldn`t resist to try it out :)
wow, thats way way different than the "oldskool" ways of intake.
draw is kinda hard on that unit me thinks ?!

Grasshopper looks good but they are having some tech issues plus it consumes the bud very quickly.

What is the heating chamber of this vape made from?

I have seen a post saying that the manufacturers say that it is stainless steel. I have seen another post saying that it is anodized aluminium. Their website only says that it is anodized (as far as I can see).

You pack it halfway full at least? I have a mighty, my two alfas are in full rotation since I love em almost as much a my mighty so you may have a faulty unit. I produce the largest clouds with fully packed Alfa, although it has much more air resistance than mighty which you can pull on till your lungs blow out hahahah

Yes i've packed it halfway, full everything, i've send the unit back to the store i got it from but they say the unit works and i cannot expect clouds like the Crafty. The problem is i don't get any clouds but still get a little bit high. I've contacted Goboof one day ago but no response yet.

I had the same issue but mine was from the first batch. How old is yours? Maybe a first gen. It took goboof a few days to reply to me but it's under warranty so they will fix or replace it.

I'm interested in buying the goboof but concerned after hearing about some of problems. Anyone know how to tell which generation it is by looking at it? Don't want to buy the first generation and have to go through the hassle of dealing with customer service....

It may work for 3-4 people with low to moderate tolerance levels. And the chamber could probably had up to 0.3 grams easy, but I haven't packed it to the max yet. Great for out and about though!

Snorcan,

I was perusing this thread when I noticed you mentioning you're from TO, Canada...so am I! Hope you don't mind me asking where you got your alfa. Did you buy it online? I prefer buying it at a real store rather than online but I can't find any place that carries it.

frank grimes,

Stay charged, my friends
Edit: vaped.ca is out of stock, the retailer on queen West mentioned below might be your only option right now (though others might have it)

Edit 2: looks like they have it on sale! Go for it man! Come join club Alfa!! And let me know if they have extra screens there, or the usb cord, I asked then to order it many weeks ago!

Hi there! So the friendly stranger on queen street has the alfa...If you want to check out its exceptional feel and quality in person. But, if you want to buy and not feel gouged, I suggest vaped.ca and find the FC discount code from the retailers thread...alrhough they're local, you can't pick up in person, but you will receive in a day or two (if in stock at the time). And you'll get a recent version, no last year stock!

So I called up friendly stranger and they have it in stock but they only have it with the ac adapter but no usb connector. They said it was a new shipment that came in recently. I'm so confused. Is it the first generation vape or is the updated version?

Snorcan, how's your unit holding up? How many times have you used it? I want to buy one but don't wanna get a dud.

My Alfa is holding up great and working fantastic. I use it every other day at least. In the off chance that you get a faulty unit, I'm sure you'll be taken care of. Never actually bought anything from friendly stranger, but you might want to ask them what their policies are in case of defective units.

snorcan,
Hey giving serious consideration to this as my first vaporiser but I have serious issues with my throat after repeated viral infections, it has recently got to the point were I can't even toke on a small rollie without getting really sick, hence why i'm looking at vapes. [inflamed tonsils and a chest or sinus infection.]

What i'm wondering is how this compares to other vaporisers when it comes to your throat, does it dry the throat or mouth at all? I had someone recommend the flight box but I would have thought a smaller unit means less distance for the vapour to travel so it's not as cool or smooth as bigger vapes?

Is that the case? I don't need portability beyond going to a friend's house but this ticks all my boxes on upkeep, ease of use etc.

I'm just worried it's to small and will irritate my throat as a result, a friends e-liquid thing wrecked my throat and that was small too, I didn't feel any heat off it or anything. Are those things even vaporisers that work in the same way?

Sorry for the long post I don't want to get something i can't use. For the record i've done a ton of research on my options and on how to reduce throat irritation. Cheers.

If this is the case i would not get the Alfa , it can run a bit hot even at its lowest setting imo and if a ecig hurt your throat , chances are this will as well. My personal advice would be to grab a vape and run it through a water tool. The Alfa will work with 14mm glass pieces and another good option imo that is light on the throat would be a solo or arizer air and run it through a bubbler. Running through water will def help allot.

Damn this vaporiser looked perfect, thanks for your honesty though.
Vapecritics review site said the arizer air was harsher then the gaboof and also recommended running the goboof on low to medium and i've been told a lower setting is one of the keys to avoiding irritation so i had to ask, oh well.
I'm hoping to avoid a bubbler, I don't want to lug it to a mates house but i might have to bite.
Is what i said about the distance the vapour travels correct? Maybe a mighty or plenty is my best bet after all.

if anyones got any other thought i'd appreciate it, cheers.

The inhalator is sold out on vape fiend might look into that. D:

If you really want the Alfa you can run it on low but you prob won't get the most out of your material. I would pick up a hydro tube or small bubbler 14mm and run it with that. I feel when the airs glass mouth piece is clean it is very smooth vapor .

Looks like a bubbler or hydro tube is the way to go.
I just wonder how it compares to my other options when it comes to harshness on the throat.

air - vape critic said the vapour is harsh and cleaning is a bit more of a hassle then the goboof.
plenty - Apparently too efficient with the herb so it's not very money saving. Again i'm not a heavy smoker, not looking to get smashed but as a handheld it is probably hands down the least harsh compared to portables. Apparently the metal coil does its job.
mighty- would rather avoid the price tag as a first timer and casual smoker. Vapefiend review said it dried his throat.

Everything about the Alfa vaporiser seems superior - price point, the even burning, above average vapour, easy cleaning, low chance of burning [or so i've heard]. But then I don't have any practical experience with vaporisers.

I feel like if the difference between the alfa and my other options are minimal this is probably it, unless anyone knows of one i'm not considering. I'm just a bit intimidated by desktops and i'd like to be able to take it to a mates house occasionally [not smoke outside though i'm in the UK].

I might look at the smaller desktops again.

I just smoke to chill i'm not in it to get smashed or wrecked, I prefer a longer, more even high. Also my CFS means I'm a lightweight and to heavy leaves me feeling like hell but enough helps with my pain. Sorry to keep going on I just don't want to make a mistake.

Cheers again.
