Member, Known Well
the problem pieces have been the fc1000 i think nihil

i have the v2 and it is by far the best piece i have had from dhgate. massive thick base, good thick glass throughout and it gives a smooth massive hit. using it right this second with the solo, had the eq hooked up earlier. whip works great too

hope that helps

It helps and is appreciated, thank you. I saw a lot of busted fc1000's, but also issues with the UFO. My fc-710 is great, so I'm mixed. Think I'll order a UFO once his storefront gets sorted out.

You know, I think I believe you in this. After water filtration it really shouldn't be even NEAR that heat.

Trust me, even I believe me on this one.

I have an entry level FLIR Thermal Imaging unit, but it works nice to see heat loss on vapes (and my 3D printers). Although I think you won't be able to measure the temperature of the water inside the bubbler - the most you can read is the temperature of the glass (make sure you set your emissivity setting low for metal and glass surfaces!)

That is sound advice (I think, I'm not a FLIR expert but have access to one). We have a Fluke Ti105, I'd say a low/mid level commercial use unit. Are you running one of the iPhone ones? The images you posted a while back were great.

Nope, @Stu has an iphone Thermal imager, I've got a FLIR TG165

(Here's my old post for the newbies to the thread)

edit, @nihil - just use low numbers (0.3) for metal and 0.9 for stuff like raw wood - see the pictures below - emissivity set to 0.95 for these shots

Here's some more FLIR porn for everyone! Enjoying a nice session at 6.5.

Seems like the temperature readings are a bit off on small objects, but it's still a very useful device for visualizing heat around the house (and 3D printer!). Hell, I discovered my bedroom alarm clock is running HOT. Hot enough that I'm actually going to replace the device.

5y1vOif.jpg

Need to move the camera around more and see what temperature I discover on my nano (supposedly it can read up to 750F)

(Note the dimmer switch is not hot at all. I'm very happy about that)

Nice and toasty at 143F. But the wood cools off VERY fast - here's what it looks like after I put my hand on the Nano for 5 seconds:

It's here :), time to experiment! The stock stem seems very thick and nice

Oh man dude, what a beautiful cut. I'm going to tell you a few of my settings and give a nice summary, simply because I want to, you don't have to use any. You mentioned a stem so I imagine you don't have a bubbler.
-*The Standard* - Keep Nano running on 6.25 for a solid 10-15 minutes for a nice heatup. Your Nano is perfectly ready when the wood feels warm, (very relaxing if you ask me). The warm wood isn't necessary, this just ensures it has reached temperature and will be consistent. Use your Epic to make sure your screen is Just where the notch is on the E-Pic (The Default). Put the Nano to the Stem and wait about 10 seconds before inhaling, and inhale as if you were sipping hot coffee or tea. Hold. Taste. Taste. Taste. Mmmmm. (Sorry got distracted by the taste)...Where was I?.....
(Cash After 2-3 Hits, stir after each)

-*Deep Glass Slow Chill Sesh*(Someone mentioned this earlier). This is for slower seshes (Bowls last much longer and don't green nearly as fast) Push the screen down with the E-pic until the curve of the E-Pic hits the glass (Yes it's pretty far down there). Pack double the amount you normally would. Set Temp to 5.75-6. (These temps release the most flavor imo). Hold the nano to the glass for 15 seconds and inhale as before. Savor that taste, realize no other vape produces flavor like this. Feel the air around you. (Woops....off onto meditation now, eh, whats the difference, really?)
(Cash after 7-10 hits or so, be the judge. Stir every 1-3 hits, increase temp slightly every few hits)

-*Close Contact Low Temp* This is for people who tend to have more sensitive throats or prefer their bud to be cooked at lower temperatures. Adds more of a Euphoric effect and less of a tired, and wow I'm stoned, kind of sesh. Push the screen closer to the nano than default, but not close enough to where it makes contact with the heating unit. Turn temp to 5.5. Enjoy.
(Stir every hit, cash after a few or so)

-*Far From the Heat Source, Not Far From the Heat*. Push the screen down to the same position as the *Deep Glass*, but turn your temperature up to 7.5. Use this method for late nights when you want higher temperatures closer to combustion. This will add a more sedated, hazy effect. Not so much for the flavor (although, first hit should be scrumptious)
(Stir every hit, cash after 2-3)

Guys. So I've been known by my smoking buddy's to be a bad drooler into the mouths of bongs while I'm taking my hit.:ugh: Figured those days were over. ( along with dry heaving to the point of tears)

And tonight I was taking one last hit from my nano and drooled right the hell into the stem and onto the screen!! Dang drool started bubbling like I was taking the hit out of a bubbler and then just soaked right into the weed. :disgust: Oh well :p

No point to this story except I just like to be on this forum to be completely honest.

It's the heat/irritants I think, happens to me too, with bongs though, not necessarily bubblers.

Ya , I find curved/bent mp are good for relieving that issue .
The straight tubes , will make you crane your neck forward
to hit it , allowing gravity to help your drool . It happens more often
when I'm water vaping thru a bubbler with longer inhales .

But , there is No rule , that says you cannot stop
in Mid-hit . Don't exhale , but swallow back your saliva
and then continue filling up your lungs . Excellent rule
for group sessions . I discover that method using
pen vapes for concentrates . I've been trying to get them
to make a periscope mp for pen vapes to whoever will listen .

Happy July 4th to all!! Hope everyone is having a good one. Just don't get all nano-ed up and hold lit fireworks in your hand. Set that shit down and use a long match so you don't blow anything off you might need to nano with!!

This is a tiny bit off topic, but which strains do you guys prefer for your nano? Top all time favs.

My personal favorite strains are kush and diesels, like sour diesel or Ogre Kush. Can't wait to get back into flowers again, because I have had to switch to vaping wax/oil without my herb vape. Just don't like the taste of all that plant matter anymore.

I've been loving nearly every strain in my nano! Personal favorites have been GSC, DeathStar, OG Kush on the heavier side and Grapefruit and Headband on the headier side. @ataxian 's list looks awesome, too! Brother knows his meds!

What's really cool - tho maybe a bit biased due to my love of the nano - is how well you can taste and feel differences through the nano. My other vapes do this some (IMO VapMan closest to almost as good), but the nano really excels here! I like the indicas a little better at higher heat (not much... 1/4 dial setting or a tad more). But, if I am comparing flavors or trying to get the most of taste from a strain I always go dry stem with lower heat. Usually 5.5 -5.75. Can always re-vape (usually with a bit of fresh added) to get out the actives you leave behind.

Does anyone vape oils on their nano? What is your technique? I am going to try to find some steel mesh I can put in there over the screen to try to hold the wax in place before vaping.

Any tips?

Hope you got a good look @Enchantre 's vid. Hadn't watched it myself in a while. GREAT STUFF!! Thanks again, Enchantre!!! I also have been using a glass screened GonG for best results and don't use them for flower anymore, so not as concerned about pristine cleaning after concentrate mess. I also flip screen and put ss wool in mine. Really need to get some pads for this purpose designed for Volcano, Herbie or Aromed! My surrent SS wool doesn't seem to hold concentrate run off as well as what she is using.

Instead of using two baskets I use one and put 2 or three flat ss screens over glass screen at bottom to catch any drippage. I don't push my basket with ss wool all the way down to the glass screen. I use it as an adjustable screen to get it right below heater. Usually do dry with a J-hook at 8 - 8.5. Great hits! Once I see a good bit of goo coming from bottom of basket screen onto glass, flip it over for a few hits. Then flip back. Hardest part I have found is trying to figure out just how many hits you'll get from any sized dab from nano. Don't have an awful lot to play with, and seems I always get many more than I was expecting. Another benefit of using a GonG you don't need for flower... can set it aside (I always lay it on side to let it cool) and come back to it later or in a day or two.

A couple times the goo dripping inside GonG stem has gotten all the way to flat screens in bottom. Just push top one out and move to other end of basket (in between load and nano) to clean that up and "reclaim" the goodness that tried to get away. I go higher heat - 9 or better - after I pull the basket screen to vape up whatever goo is left in GonG and bottom screens before cleaning. Almost all of it gets vaped up, with just some stickiness left behind.

Be forewarned.... concrntrates go forever in nano! Of course they are not as instantly mind blowing or cough inducing as from a nail or similar, but very tasty and very intense. If you're used to doing dabs, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised just how many hits you get. Learn from my mistake.... you don't have to do it all in one sitting!! It's damned near as good later.

Just odered my D020 and a vapor blunt pinnacle water tool from the DHgate/sunshine store. Thanks to you guys, thank you for the love and this wealth of information!!!

Hopefully these two additions will help me not work my lungs as much. By the way, does anyone draw vapor from a bubbler by using the stomach/diaphram as a vacuum? I want to know your opinions and suggestions, I have done it and I like the mechanics involved, but I was reading somewhere that it is not healthy drawing vapor down there instead of the Lungs.

For people in the U.S.A happy 4th of July weekend, please be responsible with all your toys and most importantly stay safe.

Hmmmmm... don't know about the healthy part. I guess it could be more or less healthy depending on your medical issues. New research being conducted and released frequently now, but could be good for some because it will get some medicinal actives into areas where they could be most beneficial. But, don't know how much will be absorbed into your bloodstream from these "belly hits" as we've always called them around here. I don't think the vapor really makes it all the way into your small intestine where that would take place. And, if not in your bloodstream the medical benefits won't make it to other parts of your body, or more importantly to your brain. I'd stick to keeping it in your lungs unless you're just trying to do impressively sized hits for friends or videos!

I am interested in that whip. Where do you get one of those?

The one that was posted from Amazon should be fine. There is a good thread in the Vapor Related Equipment section that will tell you more about silicone tubing for vaping than you would ever want to know, but basically if you use high temp food grade you'll be fine. And, that is usually in applications where vapor is coming right off the vaporizor before water or your lungs. After going through the bubbler, the vapor will be MUCH cooler. I'd say max of 125 - 150F (50-65C ?), and probably less. So, high temp not even necessary. Maybe someone with a proper thermometer or FLIR could confirm? I'd still go with food grade for taste and possible offgassing.

The biggest issue I've had with silicone whips is how dirty they get and how quickly that can happen. Again, IME always between vape and mouth or bubbler, not post bubbler. Interested to hear how this will go with the UFO and tubing post bubbler. Would think it will be much less and probably easier to clean. Hope someone with one of these, and maybe some whip style vape experience will share their experiences.

I don't understand why EPIC does't make an oil adapter? It really doesn't seem difficult. If someone could make a (I don't know materials well) ceramic (glass, stainless steel?) dome with a hole in the top that could slide into your GonG, I think that would be the easiest method. The oil would be placed on the outter sides of the dome, so when it melts it'll run off into the corners instead of down the GonG through a screen. Vapor obviously gets sucked down the hole in the center of the dome. (Can also imagine it as a mini volcano, but the smoke goes in instead of out ;), hehe)

Nice idea for the future, but honestly not sure how useful or sale-able to many. Concentrates are pretty rare for most of the country. And personally, I'd much rather see solid, reliable, consistent glass that's already available first. Not knocking Andy or Epic on this! I surely don't envy his work in finding a good reliable blower (or blowers) to do this stuff and keep the cost down enough that we can get the finished product so cheaply.

There are also custom blowers out there that may do this if you have the idea ready, time and money. But IMO, better for Epicvape to get what's already available solid before adding new stuff.

The tecs available and @Enchantre 's vid are pretty easy to follow and work well. And, think most concentrate-heads are going to be looking for more effective ways to dab anyway. I know if I could pick them up at a local dispensary, I'd have had an e-nail long ago!

Ah, I was unaware most people have difficulty finding, haha. Figured most people here were in legal states. I am in Florida, but I live on a campus and so it's everywhere. I prefer flower, I just know people were questioning how to do it and that was the idea that I've always had in mind. I was almost considering bending a few screens into that shape and cutting a hole in the middle to try it out, but not sure if the screens will be fine enough to hold the oil in. I'll go watch Enchantre's video and see what I can gather from it :)

I believe anyone who thoroughly enjoys smelling a dog or cats head will also thoroughly enjoy smelling a nicely warmed up nano.

I guarantee it!
I thoroughly enjoy smelling dogs...I enjoy smelling a lot of things (I smell almost everything). I enjoy smelling my Nano. I don't see the relationship though. Maybe it's the philosophy.
Claim 1: People who enjoy smelling dogs, will enjoy the act of smelling in general, because dogs don't always smell that great.
Claim 2: People who enjoy the act of smelling, will enjoy smelling a "nicely warmed up Nano", because a "nicely warmed up Nano" generates smell.
Conclusion: Because people who enjoy smelling dogs enjoy the act of smelling, and because a "nicely warmed up Nano" generates smell, People who enjoy smelling dogs will enjoy smelling a "nicely warmed up Nano."

Well, I smelled my nano and the smell sort of reminded me of a dog or cats (probably more of a nice and clean house cat actually) head.

It was mostly just a silly observation ha.
I like the smell of my cat, but not my dog. Weird.

Smells are interesting. What are you smelling? Do you know?

We smell similarly to how we hear: vibrations! Your nose has a bunch of different types of hairs and things and depending on how a molecule or particle affects those hairs physically is how you sense a smell. Different frequencies vibrations.

Weird as shit, huh?

I love my Nano but never thought of the correlation between a wet dog and my Nano, but you can love your dog and your Nano I see the link there.

Also the little hairs in your nose are there to collect any small particles from entering your nasal canal. It doesn't affect your ability to smell.

I'm enjoying some PermaFrost in my Nano tonight while watching Fireworks on TV and listening to all the fireworks outside. It's a very hot evening for this part of the U.S. It's suppose to be this way all week.

Just got back from a vacation where I brought my Nano right along with me. It is such a nice vaporizer to depend on to medicate.

My custom Nanos are getting a little darker with age from the heat and producing a nice rich color.

Yeah, we used to think there was a sort of key-hole match system for particles, but that is turning out to be less and less plausible. Now they are liking the swipe idea, where those hairs (not the big ones we can see, the micro ones in the back) are there to feel the frequencies of the particles.

But don't take my word for it, I'm not a scientist.

How long does it usually take for a nano to ship?

There is no vibration or micro hair involved in smell. In the back of the nose there is a mucose, a membrane capable of recognizing odors. A strong head shock can make some mess on it, this is one way to loose the sense of smell.
