A heavy hitting vape, and finding the right choice of ecig was instrumental to my quitting- but after you get used to vaping- options open way up.
Of course if they don't really want to quit, they're not likely to..

Yes they are not interested in quitting cigarettes so for them is there any reason to vape the weed?

Vaping is more efficient than smoking. The vast majority of people who vape mj use less than with smoking. Plenty of cig smokers have switched to vapor for mj, but in general I'd say it's a harder conversion. Actually he's already vaping every time he smokes mj. He probably just doesn't realize it.

But I like it!
It depends - the economic reason is probably the strongest - they'll get much more benefit from much less herb by vaping. Plus, when they are done vaping, they can turn their ABV into budder or most anything of interest. They can also vape in more places than they can smoke. In Canada I can vape in airports and other places where smoking isn't allowed with no issues (I'm a legal card-carry person).

It's always advantageous to vape than to smoke .
But I think it's your friend's mindset , that will be the hardest
to change . They're used to lighting up with cigs , smoke/ashes/done .
They just might not want to session a joint like with some vapes .

I don't think the health factor comes into play here , because
they're still smoking cigs . It may come down to rituals ,
smoke/ashes/done .

I still smoke 5-10 cigarettes daily and have Only Vaped my herb for over 5 years. I find the advantage of a "cleaner high", not stinking like an illegal substance, and can't stand the nasty mess from cleaning bowls and bongs after smoking Herb or the nasty ass taste of a roach or dirty bowl.

I myself didn't really see any savings on the quantity I used for a couple years after starting vaping but the quality of herb where I live improved greatly a couple of years ago so even if I was still smoking I may use less then I did 5 years ago.

@Ansel seems you've been around here long enough to know some of the differences between smoking herb and vaping, What are the reasons You chose to vape more often and not smoke? Sharing the reasons you vape should be helpful in your friend making up their mind if they wanna vaporize or smoke.

Erm... i think vaping is better if you have to deal with people and i think it is less addictive therefore less dependency.

+1

If for no other reason than to conserve the herb.

Smoking is vaping at high temperatures
Sorry sir, but I have to strongly disagree with that statement. And the effects to your lungs from combusting tobacco is different from combusting weed or other plant material. Tobacco clogs and fills up the lungs with heavy tar. While MJ opens up the lungs and is somewhat of an expectorant. That's is why blunts are so nasty. Also, things like spearmint and eucalyptus have other "medicinal" effects for breathing. And there is more hard science on that whole subject in the future.

Plus there are some smart FC-ers here who have delved even deeper on the subject. And some of us are pretty passionate on the whole matter. Fortunately, there is plenty of source material to open up to here. So Shop smart...Shop S-MART. Got it?

Vaporizing is more like cooking out the water and producing water droplets (vapor). Smoking is burning the plant material and produces Carbon and a range of carcinogens. This is also why the effects of smoking-combusting is so immediate. Plus cigarettes are DESIGNED to combust with the most immediate impact. That's why you read about tobacco manufacturers adding things like chocolate and other garbage to add to that initial heart racing rush. This is biggest hurdle to overcome when switching from combusting to vaporizing IMHO tobacco or otherwise. But especially tobacco for a host of reasons.

Plain unadulterated Tobacco is harsh. That is why American Spirits cigs are scratchy compared to say Newports. Using a dry herb vaporizer would circumvent the harshness with plain tobacco. Just that first draw won't have that initial impact as say a first drag off a Marlboro Red.

Yes. There is a reason to vape if you are a cigarette smoker. If you understand the what and why, then you have a larger reason to make the full crossover too the real "FLAVOR COUNTRY" of vaporising.

If he is wanting to do a complete switch to vaping, it will depend a LOT on the vape he uses too.

I smoke cigs unfortunately. Around a pack a day. So ill give some of my opinions and experience. For over a year now i have vaped and combusted both, most days combusting more than vaping. Ill explain...

When it comes to herb, I get higher from vaping than combusting (when using a good vape) and i use less herb too, both of those reasons are enough to vape over combust.

I do still enjoy the ritual and taste of combusting too though, this makes it harder to do a complete switch, but for me the hardest part of switching from combusting to vaping was finding the right vape that was as convenient as combusting.

Its real easy and quick to pack a bowl and take a few hits off the bong. When it came to vaping (depending on the vape) there is wait/warm up times, and playing with the amount you load, how you grind, and how you hit it to get the ideal vapor production.

The Arizer EQ and Arizer Air i have both got me higher and used less herb than when i combusted... But both came with warm up times and took more time to extract the full amount of noids from the herb.

For instance with the AA, you load a decent load and you can get 2, 10 minute sessions off one load... 20 minutes of vaping or so for full extraction. The same amount of herb that would be smoked in a bowl in less than a minute.

The EQ was similar but had a longer warm up time, and depending on how i used it could take longer or less for full extraction.

This is a good thing sometimes... Not so much other times when im busy doing something else. Or just being lazy. So a lot of times id just smoke a bowl, or a joint... After 15 years of rolling joints i can roll a couple quick Js in a minute..

But now i have an Underdog log vape.... This is just as convenient as a bong for me!! Gets me higher than combusting, uses less herb than combusting or either of my other vapes for that matter... And i can walk up, take a couple quick hits, and go back to work in a minute or 2. Fully extracting the noids in just a couple quick hits.

Since i got it i have not had the urge to combust at home once... And i wasnt even "trying" to stop combusting....

Granted when im out and about, or in the woods for a couple days ill still do a mix of combust/vape... But thats really just because i wont have the log with me.

So IMO it will depend a lot on the vape when it comes to doing a complete switch. But as mentioned before there are plenty good reasons to still vape over combust.

Yes yes it would be better for them to quit the cigarettes but they won't listen.

Getting used to vaping weed MAY help your friend to be more inclined to consider vaping nicotine in the form of e-juice or even just good quality pipe tobacco - & they MAY then eventually be able to fuck combustion completely & subsequently feel healthier & possibly even live longer

Depending on the person, this MAY be considered a bonus.

But of course, it may not.

I would have your friend consider a dry herb vaporizer. Perhaps starting with a fuss free portable. (Pax2?) A bag of plain fresh tobacco is cheaper then a single pack of cigs. Without the witches brew of chemicals. Just that plain tobacco is normally harsher than the manufactured products. So anything that smooths out that issue would be a huge plus. Can anybody else recommend an off the grid alternative? ? I would keep him away from the e-juice because that would only compound the problem. Getting "more with less" might be a way to make him come around. Maybe find out what he likes about cigarettes over the other options? There is some posts and forums that have been put up by several new users detailing their transition. I even went over this subject in the Arizer EQ discussion recently. Hope this helps.

Hmmm, I think that this needs to be highlighted as only your opinion as it is certainly not necessarily true for everyone.

The fact is that e-juice has helped many (but obviously not all) people move away from combustion & for some, nicotine altogether.

What? I know ten people that stopped smoking
only because of vaping e-juice alone. Three of those ten had no desire to quit at all only wanted to try e-cigs. If I'm seeing that many people turn to vaping from smoking i can only imagine how many others could make the switch.

Everybody I know who has used e-juice has went back to smoking full time. But that is entirely anecdotal and some were possibly uninformed when they got into it. Which may have contributed to them falling back. There has been more articles in the negative column more recently about e-cigs. Not propaganda but actual studies. Plus e-cigs have things like glycerin and are usually made in china. Outside of that, yes that is the opinion I have formed. But if someone eventually quits tobacco and then as the next step quits e-cigs entirely then that is a huge win. But from cigs to e-cigs might be more of a lateral change health wise IMHO. Your point that they are actually making the transition is a positive fact.:) Some haven't even arrived to that conclusion yet. That was what I was taking into consideration with that last post. Someone who is already willing to look for an alternative, will be that much more inclined to curb or quit.:peace:

 Thought the OP was just asking if his friend would benefit from Vaporizing their Bub and some of the reasons we think they should vape weed instead of smoking it even if they still smoked tobacco.

And not how to get them to quit smoking cig's 'cause they don't want to give them up.

:rofl:Yea, but you can't blame us for trying. I'll try to reset the question then and give my uninformed opinion all over again.:bang: Yes it would, I guess be helpful. However, If he smokes shortly before or after he vapes (or especially if he combusts anything else). There is some more direct damage being done. So it would be better at the very least, if he spaces out between doing the two. Pretty much what I said about tobacco clogs & MJ opens up the lungs earlier. Hope I've actually contributed to the OP this time.:haw:

I still smoke cigs, but vape 99% of my herb. The transition from smoking weed to vaping it was very easy for me. Not so much for my failed attempts using e-cigs to replace my analogs. :2c:

Without ecigs, myself and many others I know at work, never would have quit smoking. And man the money I'm saving is $1000's a year. Oh not to mention I am asthmatic and had chronic bronchitic since I was a baby neither of which has reared it's head in about a year...amazing to me!

Vaping herb cuts my use in half as well again $1000's a year.

@Stu Keep trying with the ecigs please. I suggest trying different ratios of VG and PG as well as high nic levels. Perhaps a local vape shop could let you try different stuff. I can't stand VG but most people prefer it.

I wonder how many cigarette smokers realize just how badly they STINK, I didn't until I quit. It's a horrible disgusting smell that stays on you and follows you everywhere you go. I would rather sit next to a fresh and rank steaming pile of dog shit than a smoker that recently put out a cigarette.

That's right... what I'm saying to any smoker reading this is, "YOU STINK!" and I will gladly say it to your face.

I have thought of a way to give smokers a taste of the nastiness that non-smokers experience. Take an ashtray with at least 10 butts in it (they should have just a bit of tobacco left, not burnt all the way to the filter) and get most of them damp with a little water, then have the smoker take a big whiff of that up close. It will not give the full effect that a non-smoker gets from a smoker's clothes, but it's close enough. I'd love to hear some reports from this test.

This is coming from someone that was exposed to second hand smoke for the first 18 years of life and smoked from age 15 to 29. Quitting smoking was the best thing I ever did for my health and I hope some of you smokers will consider it.

@Kief they won't know till the quit. As a smoker your taste and smell is descentized.

I was in the same boat. Been smoke free for almost 2 years. I can smell the guy 3 offices away who came back from a smoke break lol.
