Discontinued The Grasshopper

Hehehe. I don't just mean as a detection risk in places where it's not permitted. I mean as in does it get stinky? Does the device let a lot of odor out? How good is it at sealing the flavor? Those kinda questions.

Wich powerbank would be nice to own with the grasshopper?
No idea why no one has answered you. My usual rule is to double the mah of whatever i need to charge. So for the hopper 750 is the mah for the batteries. Honestly there are cheap 10000mah chargers on amazon that would fully recharge your hopper several times. And your phone. I can link the one I was consideringbuting actually its an anker that was on sale for 22 usd.

Didn't Trevor recommend one? It's in this thread (or the locked one) somewhere....

Hi Everyone,

This is a quick update to cover a few important things. First, we are working very hard to get everyone their Grasshoppers as soon as possible. For the most part, shipping has gone smoothly. A few backers have experienced an issue but some of that is to be expected with a new product. We've already tracked down the problem, fixed it and replaced the units for those backers.

There's a lot going on around here so we apologize for any slow customer service responses. We'll get to every message, but it might take a few more days than normal. In the meantime, here are some answers to commonly asked questions.

Shipping address confirmations will be sent out 1-5 days before your order is shipped. When you receive the confirmation you'll be given the opportunity to update your address at that time. This is the best way to avoid updating your address multiple times. You may still email an address change to support@grasshoppervape.com but we will not update it on the website immediately to avoid spending unnecessary time changing addresses.

You may add accessories to your order at any time before shipping. The process for this is to create a new order using your same account. If you have an open order you will not be charged any additional shipping and the items will all go out together. This will not cause any delay with your order.

The campaign accessories are in the works. We now have stock of the leather sleeve and the Stainless Case for immediate shipping. The Ti Case, Water Pipe Adapter, and Oils-end are all still in the works. If you contributed for these items, your order will ship without them and they will be delivered at a later date. Our current priority is shipping Grasshoppers and we will be getting many more units out this month.

We hope everyone who has received a unit is enjoying it and we'd love to hear your feedback.

We’ll be back on the 15th with another update.

The Grasshopper Team
So were the oil tip and water pipe adapter available to order as a backer, or do they mean that those will eventually be ready for order/purchase?

Any power bank/pack that has a 2A USB output. Choose the size/shape/mAh that you prefer, as long as it has a 2A output you can take advantage of the full charge speed of the Grasshopper. A lower amperage output can still be used, but it will charge slower accordingly.

Same thing applies to wall adapters, car adapters, and computer USB ports. They must have at least 2A output to take full advantage of the charge speed.
I'm not sure if it's been shared but how smelly does the GH get with an unvaped load? If those with a GH have some experimenting time I propose a comparison of unvaped load vs a vaped load. Quantity could be a variable, the use of the leather sleeve could be another. For the experiment to work one would need someone with a fresh nose, since vapers or smokers aren't great at detecting the smell when smoking/vaping or having smoked/vaped recently.
Every single used vaporizer will smell if it isn't completely sealed. I repeat, every single used vaporizer will smell if it isn't completely sealed.
Does your weed smell? A brand new unit loaded with your weed is going to smell like your weed. A used unit loaded with fresh weed is going to smell like fresh weed and cooked weed.

If smell is a concern to you get the smell proof stainless case they sell. Also you should clean often.
If you're trying to hide it from canines instead of humans, good luck with that.

Edit
I should also point out the fact that odors will permeate through basically anything if given enough time. This means that eventually it will smell no matter what. It's just a matter of will there be enough smell for a human nose to detect.

Thanks for the clarification. I should have added that I have no experience in storing vaporizers but plenty with smoking paraphernalia. I thought in vaporizers the smell would be lesser than on pipes or whatnot. Hiding it from canines is by no means a risk I would take.

So is this the second unit you would have to send in or the first? It's getting hard to keep track of the failures on the backer's units.

It was my second this next will be my third. The first one started heating slower not by much but enough Trevor felt he needed to look at it but it still worked. The replacement worked yesterday but this morning mid way through a sesion it started blinking. I was unable to get it to stop.

Third times the charm i hope.

Fuck fuck fuck fuck.....

Especially in light of that last update, about how a few units had a problem, but they fixed the issue.
Honestly i think it even surprised and worried trevor. I have honestly not gotten an email back as fast. Before i could even respond i had a tracking email. He said there shouldn't have been a reason for it to start flashing.

@TheVapeStation: Did it flash red and blue, or just one color?
Blue and red.
They need to work this stuff out, if they start shipping 1,000 units a week and the failure rate is similar they will run out of money very fast...
Honestly these issues are probably whats keeping mass shipping from taking place. Once they isolate a defect they have to check other units. Honestly this has been nothing like the ascent launch.

Two months ago they said they had "checked and double-checked" and had found "no problems" with the "production run". All along the majority opinion of most people was that all the waiting and delays was worth it so they could be sure to iron out all the bugs before shipping. Dotting their i's crossing their t's kind of thing. How could they possibly have not seen issues in their tests when so many of the few backers have had multiple different issues so soon after receiving theirs?

maybe they would go faulty after a longer period of time if GH didn't test them... hard to say the exact cause of the issue, how long after being assembled it happens etc.

How much run time do you think it had on it before it died? Like actual minutes or seconds it was on and heating before the lights flashed? I imagine having it less than a day means it has only been running and heating for a few minutes at most. The odds of you getting two units with two separate problems have to be staggering considering so few people actually have gotten one. That is bad news.

Sounding more and more like a discreet Beta program than the beginning of shipping.

You've obviously never tried to release a product to the public... Have you looked at the vapman thread lately? End user gets a heating station that tested perfectly before shipping, failed, went back to manufacturer, and they can't replicate the error at all despite having all the shipped stations back in hand. You cannot feasibly reconstruct every situation that a product may be subjected to during a test phase. (Un)fortunately this is what beta testing is for. There will always be problems with products that are just being released... Only difference is most other companies just come out with an end-product instead of keeping people in the know like with this GH situation. Barring leaks, nobody hears about the new phone coming out until to actually going to come out.

No I haven't, but I assume the people who have ordered them are actually receiving them.

So you're saying this is Beta testing? Do the backers know this?

I agree, and they wouldn't take peoples money until it was out and ready as well.
