Sun-baked coconut oil infusion

So looks like I'm going to try my first oil infusion today. I have about 8 grams of dark ABV and some quality ev coconut oil.

So far, the stove top espresso maker looks to be one of the best methods, but I don't currently have one so I was going to do a bowel-type double boiler.

But.. It's going to be 99 here with 0% humidity. Could I put the mix in a mason jar and just leave it in the sun for like six hours?

Just throwing it out there as I'm sure someone's already tried this.

I have heard of people doing it in the sun before. Make sure to shake the mixture in the jar every 30 minutes to an hour so the oil absorbs more evenly. If you try this, let us know how the potency turns out.

I went ahead and did the double boiler on low for about 2 hours. Abv was, again, pretty dark going in. Been finishing all my haze loads on 4. To a vaping aficionado, I'm probably overdoing it, but it still tastes SO much better than all but the first hit when combusting.

Final amount going in was 9g of mixed abv and about 9/16th of a cup of oil. All mid to high grade sativas or sativa dominant hybrids, except for the harlequin (very high cbd/lowish THC; not sure what it is). Ran it through a permanent coffee filter and got just shy of 1/2 of a cup of jet black nutty smelling coco oil.

Subbed it in for butter in some Trader Joe's truffle brownies and added just a little home made cold brew Guatemalan coffee, which yielded 21 mini muffins with .4g's worth of abv oil each.

I'm a noob when it comes to making edibles, but there was a 90 minute break between this paragraph and the prior when the bowl licking and one brownie kicked in, if that tells you anything, lol. Very different high than when it was vaped, with pain relief and body high being significantly improved. Granted, I'm a useless pile of shit, but this pile o shit is getting a good night's sleep tonight.

Once I get another quarter or so of ABV, I'll try the sun method. I ran it so low on the stove that a (mostly) sealed mason jar in direct sun would get pretty damn close in temp.

Thanks, I didn't think of that!

Next time, I'm going to either up the ABV or do chocolates. The brownies are great, but it's taking two to get where I was yesterday. I suspect the raw batter at the bottom of the mixing bowl is probably the most potent part. Just too much brownie at once for my taste.
