TV Shows - General Discussion

I put the kibosh on Orange is the New Black after I didn't like season 2 and season 3 has not shown any evidence of improving. Sadly gave up on Orphan Black because I've stopped caring for the characters and plot (excellent acting and design though).

Gonna rewatch The Wire with my girlfriend (hasn't seen it) and supplement that with Transparent, Daily Show and John Oliver, and I have a whole season of Sunny in Philly to catch up, can't wait!

I go where the thrills are
@mitchgo61 Have you been watching BB17? Feeds are great this year, and I've gotten a beevy of OT at work, which is awesome as my job allows me to listen/watch the feeds as I do work....2 birds, 1 stone!

Haven't seen the feeds, we tape After Dark but have only watched the CBS shows so far. I wish they wouldn't do the dual HOH thing again this year, that bit can lead to collusion. But it's early....I go through the love/hate cycle a million times every summer.

Black Mirror was a trip! I saw those a little while back
I watched the Waldo episode (s2e3 I believe) recently with a mate.

I'd heard really good things about it but never got around to watching...

After we watched it my mate turns to me and says
"Dude, that was really good, and really interesting, but what the fuck did we just watch?"

John Oliver has gotta be one of my favourite shows on TV ATM :D

I just can't seem to get into always sunny...
I've seen a few episodes here and there, but for me, it just doesn't feel funny...
Absurd, ridiculous, sure, but it doesn't "feel" right to me...

I thought they were all well done and worth a watch, but The National Anthem, and White Bear were probably my favorites.. Crazy shit!

EDIT: I can't wait for season 2 of Rick And Morty!! I almost forgot about that one!

Hoooly shit am I pumped for Rick and morty!
Did you see the Simpsons intro they guest animated?

I got a Rick and morty jigsaw puzzle from loot crate last month so I'm panning on finishing it and framing it

I listen to Dan harmons podcast (harmontown), and in one of the episodes he was talking about Rick and morty, and some of the plans they have for the show going forward.

I thought it was interesting, they basically want to take it anywhere their universe could take it, but they've ruled out time travel, because it's too easy to have a cheap reset or whatnot...

It's hilarious, but it also deals with some pretty deep stuff in it's absurd ways.

Morty having an alien demon child and going through the stages of parenting was a crazy trip

That Rick and morty are technically "aliens" in a parallel universe, with their original universe never to be returned to.

The interesting dilemma of the existence of the meseeks - they only exist to want to die by completing their task, and it is actually cruel to try to keep them alive.

IM MR MESEEKS, LOOOOK AT MEEEEEEE!!!

I don't think I've seen that one, I'll have to look it up  but I saw probably the trippiest episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force recently and it seems like the Rick And Morty team had something to do w/ it being so crazy.. It was a claymation episode, and it had a Rick And Morty vibe to it, and I'm pretty sure the person who does Morty's voice was in that one.. I'm really not a big fan of ATHF, but that episode was a trip

I've never watched ATHF, but it's been on my list of shows to check for a while.
Thanks for that clip  It turns out I never did see that one

TBH ATHF is definitely not my favorite show, by a long shot  I think that new claymation episode is no doubt my favorite one I've ever seen  but it was probably a little funnier since I've seen other past episodes over the years.. It was the first episode of what will be the last season.. and it turns out Justin Roiland was a guest star on that episode after all  I knew it when I heard the voice  it sounds just like Morty..

I wanted to post the episode, but I couldn't find it on youtube/google yet.. It'll probably be available some time soon though.. I found it on a video streaming site though, and I checked that it works.. It's Season 11 Episode 1 - "Mouth Quest" Check it out some time.. You're gonna wanna get fully baked for this one :spliff: This shit is stupid!

Hah, Yeah.. That's one fucked up episode! Crazy way to kick off the series....

I just found out there was a more recent episode that wasn't on Netflix, so I'm gonna try to watch it later on.. It's called White Christmas..

@Buildozer Rick and Morty is epic. I loved how the intro of The Simpsons had them flying their ship in.

Adult Swim has great cartoons for the older crowd and if you are high. I hope they create a bunch of seasons. Started watching that show before I took up weed again.

It's refreshing to see something that creative and off the wall.. :spliff:

Court on the other hand doesn't really work like that. The shit they get away with lol. If I ever pulled that I would be in jail for contempt haha. The bluffs with the false document or non existent documents is a little off too. Can't be going around doing that. Haha. I saw them filming once before. Half the show is filmed in toronto. Their "office" is at King and Bay in Toronto. If you look closely you'll see Toronto stuff in the background. Filmed minutes away from the big court house in Toronto which you see occasionally.
Just as an aside, I ADORE series/movies that are shot in Canada... especially these more recent ones done in Toronto. The architecture is wonderful (the stuff that is "real" vs CGI), and I always get a sense of very earnest, fresh out of acting school, eager production & acting staff. Cheesy. Often VERY cheesy. In particular, the disaster scenarios & SciFi.

My absolute favorites are the old TV drama/comedies... Adderly (I loved that one), Forever Night, newer stuff like Sanctuary, Fringe, pick any recent "the world is ending!" movies shot in the PNW (ROFLMAO!), just watched a couple of episodes of Dark Angel...oh, and Grimm, Leverage ( I loved how they actually wrapped it up!)...

Lousy CGI, obvious Green Screen gaffes, lip-sync mis-timings.. these are all my favorites. Godzilla, anyone? :D

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
Mr. Robot on USA is really good. Highly recommended.

Mr Robot is cool and has huge potential, watched the first episode last night.

'Follows a mysterious anarchist who recruits a young computer programmer who suffers from social anxiety disorder and forms connections through hacking them.

Elliot, a cyber-security engineer by day and vigilante hacker by night, is recruited by a mysterious underground group to destroy the firm he's paid to protect. Elliot must decide how far he'll go to expose the forces he believes are running (and ruining) the world.'

This show is slick with real world problems and they got all the technology correct and on point.

Roll on episode two.

Also will be starting Rick and Morty tonight thanks to @polvoman :)

I just realized the first episode of the 2nd season of The Strain. This TV show is really scary IMO. But I like it. It's on FX.

I thank I think @lwien turned me on to this one, anyway someone from FC did. A really bizarre storyline, especially the way it starts out with this big mystery of how all these folks on an major airliner died except for like 2 then they die also. Then some really weird things starts happening. I think it sets in NY city if not NY some huge city anyway.

I am 2 months behind on DVR. Just saw the Person of Interest finale. Great episode. Hero's all. This show flies under the radar. While I do enjoy comic books I prefer that my heroes have the same abilities (if exaggerated) than me.

Still really liking Halt and Catch Fire. Has me really sucked into it. Such an easy show to watch and so real and relatable.

Are you old enough to have lived through that point in time and remember it?
Oh yes, definitely old enough but maybe not geeky enough. The second season is getting great reviews but I don't think I'll make it that far :hmm:

My short-term memory is definitely impaired. I love watching good movies and quality TV. I also love vaping. Oftentimes, my mind wanders and I have to rewind and watch the same scene again. Sometimes I do it by choice when there's a particularly good scene like the ******** in this week's True Detective. The hardest part is keeping up with the story-lines of half a dozen TV shows I watch. I know a lot of people prefer the box sets but I'm old-school and like the week to week suspense. Thank god for "Previously on..."
